Actually, it's back to glowy-ish light on wall, weird cell phone photos, sort of odd theme. Maybe some inner mystery. But just a dollop.

Usually between my Birds of New Mexico book and google, especially The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, I can figure out what bird I've photographed.
But not this time.
It was smaller than a robin, between a sparrow and a finch. It's got a mix of markings. The back is almost all grey with a hint of blue just like the top of the head, and the wings are almost black with whitish stripes. The beak is small with a hint of yellow. The eyes have a white circle.
I'm stumped. The closest I've found at Cornell Lab is Townsend's Solitaire but it's supposed to be a lot bigger, about the size of a robin and juveniles are heavily spotted.
None of the jays I've seen have the white circle around the eye.
Clark's Nutcracker doesn't have the white stripes on the wings.
The Northern Mockingbird comes close but again, it's supposed to be about the size of a robin, and the juvenile is spotted.
If anyone has any idea, I'd appreciate hearing it!
Thanks to bill chauvin the leading candidate is now the Plumbeous Vireo!
