Today I took a really close look at the Prius logo. Here is a macro of part of it.

The photo is straight out of the camera ... (SOOC)

I like the reflections...

A pine tree struck by lightning falls and crushes a nearby neighbor's car. I guess the lightning wanted to give the Prius it's best, and final "charge!"

Bethnal Green Road

So what beat off the Volvo V50, Mazda 6 & BMW 320D to become the new crayzy ray mobile. Well here it is. Looks pretty ordinary you might say, but it's a petrol/electric hybrid. Some technical stuff to be found here: www.hybridcars.com/prius.html

For the money it comes fully loaded, sat nav (essential) rear parking tv assist thingy. The only real drawback is the CVT gearbox... I'd really prefer a manual.

Oh and it's name as provided by Louise & Emily is "Connie the big green mean machine". I may have got one or two of those adjectives in the wrong order, I'm not really sure.

I dread to think what turboman2002 is going to say.

The monitor displays a history of fuel consumption for the last half hour, averaged over five-minute intervals. The "Current" MPG reading at the right is zero when the car is not moving, is off the top of the scale when the car is moving but the gasoline engine is off, and otherwise shows the fuel economy you're achieving moment by moment. Then it's averaged over five minutes, and displayed on the chart at the left; the little car symbols show how much energy you've put back into the battery pack using regenerative braking.

I am surprised that this was the only vehicle I saw bogged down in the soft sand. I had cycled the length of the Absheron Peninsula and struggled on my bike. Given that I was cycling to a timescale I let everyone else extricate this car.

The wild and wonderful world of Wenatchee Forest's one and only A-Frame rental cabin and the wilderness that surrounds it.

Unfortunately, my '97 Subaru broke down on the way to the cabin but I was able to get home and use our second car which is a Toyota Prius, not the best vehicle for the steep and snowy roads of Table Mountain. It was kind of like arguing with logic but the gas mileage was unbelievable.

A typical residential street in Takadanobaba, Tokyo, Japan, characterized by a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle path. The street is lined with a mix of modern and older residential buildings, and overhead power lines are prominent. Parked cars, including a Nissan NV350 Caravan and a Toyota Prius, occupy a small parking area. Streetlights display banners for the Kami-Takada Shopping Street's 70th anniversary, and a traffic sign indicates 'No Entry Except Bicycles'.

I'm ready to go out, or am I?

I have to bet that Toyota did NOT do the paint job on this Prius!

Day 135 of my 366 Project

One thing about having ADD is that I have so many projects I want to create, but don't stay focused on them for long. For example, I came up with the idea this morning to make a photo book of my 2008 trip to Europe. But that's daunting because I took over 2000 photos on that trip, and while I know where the photos are, the stories (in the description, like this) are just as important (meaning I would need to copy-paste those into the book as well). But more significantly, it's a matter of "Who is going to care about this photo book? Just me and my infant daughter, when she's grown up. That's it." And these pics are already on Flickr, so it's kind of like "Is it really necessary to make a book?" Ultimately I think the answer is yes, because Flickr won't be around forever, but the printed word has stood the test of time. If my parents had made photo books or albums of their travels before I was born, I would find it interesting to look through them.

Anyway, here is the story that goes along with this picture:

I took the Circle Line subway from Bayswater to Edgware Road, where I transferred to the Hammersmith & City Line and took that to King's Cross St Pancras station. I went outside and walked 3/4 of the way around St Pancras station to take pictures of it, then I went back in and went through security, which I wasn't expecting since it's a train. But I guess since it's an international train, it's a bit different. I hadn't been on an international train since 2008, and that was within the Schengen Area.

July 27, 2014, the light after the storm. I took this while returning home from the St. John's Concours after having dinner in Ypsilanti with Marsha and her mom. Amazing good fortune to be passing through Depot Town right at this time, about 8 pm.

This historic block often takes on nice evening light during the weekly Depot Town cruise nights on Thursday evenings, but I have never seen it this dramatic.

Much to do about nothing, no editorial intent intended

I couldn't go an entire trip without at least taking one creative shot of my rental car. It's a 2007 Toyota Prius. I've never driven a hybrid car, and it is different. I've been getting close to 50mpg and it has all the bells and whistles.

Got lucky with this location. Perfect timing.

I'm getting our 2012 Toyota Prius Hybrid ready to sell. Anyone interested? ;-)

Toyota is the world's market leader in sales of hybrid electric vehicles, and one of the largest companies to encourage the mass-market adoption of hybrid vehicles across the globe. Cumulative global sales of Toyota and Lexus hybrid passenger car models achieved the 10 million milestone in January 2017. Its Prius family is the world's top selling hybrid nameplate with over 6 million units sold worldwide as of January 2017.

Toyota was the world's first automobile manufacturer to produce more than 10 million vehicles per year which it has done since 2012, when it also reported the production of its 200-millionth vehicle. Source: Wikipedia
