An eventful day at Inle Lake.

Floating villages, markets, pagodas… and as you can see bad weather.

What do you think? Did we make it back without getting soaked with rain?

Towards Brotherswater and the Helvellyn Group from the path to Angle Tarn.

The weather forecast suggested there might have been mist in the valleys. It was not to be but I was lucky to time my walk just as the mist cleared from the moors. An ever changing scene for around twenty minutes and then the mist was all gone.

A view towards Cerro de Trevenque, a peak in the Cumbres Verdes area of the Sierra Nevada in the south of Spain. The Arenales del Trevenque as well as the rest of the Sierra Nevada form a hotspot of plant endemicity. These sandy areas caught the attention of 19th century naturalists and botanists like Edmond Boissier who revealed to the world some endemic Sierra Nevada species.

in a quite fluctuating weather here in Finland: showers, hard wind and cool temperature but luckily every now and then some sun shine too.

... and before anyone asks about Afro Uncle's hand: yes, he got tenosynovitis from all that paper doll cutting :-(

Humpback whale fluke, captured during a whale watch trip out of Provincetown, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The whale swimming towards the setting sun made a wonderful closing scene after plenty of whale sightings, just before the boeat headed back to Provincetown. It was an unforgettable experience I would not want to miss.

Looking towards Glen Sligachan from a little way up the Allt Dearg Beag path, with the Red Hills at left, Marsco just right of centre and Nead na h-Iolaire ("the eagle's nest") just further right.

Semmering Railway, Lower Austria: Kalte-Rinne-viaduct, Pollereswand with Polleres-tunnel, the Krausel-Klause-viaduct and the small Krausel tunnel (left to right), in the background the Rax Alp. This scenery was shown on the 20-Schilling-banknote released 1968, and is therefore called 20-Schilling-view. Wikipedia also provides the following information: The Semmering railway (German: Semmeringbahn) in Austria, which starts at Gloggnitz and leads over the Semmering to Mürzzuschlag, was the first mountain railway in Europe built with a standard gauge track. It is commonly referred to as the world's first true mountain railway, given the very difficult terrain and the considerable altitude difference that was mastered during its construction.

"All the fear has left me now

I'm not frightened anymore

It's my heart that pounds beneath my flesh

It's my mouth that pushes out this breath

And if I shed a tear I won't cage it

I won't fear love

And if I feel a rage I won't deny it

I won't fear love

Companion to our demons

They will dance, and we will play

With chairs, candles, and cloth

Making darkness in the day

It will be easy to look in or out

Upstream or down without a thought..."

Released 30 years ago, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, the third studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, it was produced by Pierre Marchand in Montreal; McLachlan wrote most of the album while living in a small house near Marchand's studio. In 2022, Pitchfork ranked it number 119 on its list of the "150 Best Albums of the 1990s". (from Wikipedia)

An absolute masterpiece from one of the best voices in alternative-pop music. I love this album.

Clarke Quay is a unique, conserved historical landmark located along the Singapore River. It offers various attractions, and is a popular spot for locals and tourists to catch the water-taxis that traverse up and down the river. This is a long exposure photograph taken from the opposite bank of Singapore River towards Clarke Quay. The different lights on board of the vessels criss-crossing, to move in or out of the station, led to interesting colour streams and reflections.
