It's December.
My friend from Boston comes next week. She does it each year to go with me to pick out a Christmas tree.
She's Jewish.
We bring it home, stand it up overnight and decorate it the next day while listening to Christmas carols.
Then we make a nice dinner and lift our glasses in a toast to goodwill toward men.
Goodwill to all of you, too.
Most often you need lots of lens to capture good wildlife images, trying to get close without disturbing the subject. But occasionally the bird surprises you and comes too close. We were trying to photograph this secretive Least Bittern at some distance, while it hid in the tall grass. It suddenly flew towards us and landed in a nearby tree. As a hardened photographer I should have removed my teleconverter, but alas I panicked and only got a head shot. I'll take it though.

& Yes he was extremely close
But also 'yes' we've uploaded countless 'fly-by' Short Eared Owl shots recently
So an unconventionally close crop to create something
different
Good idea?
