Another Labour Day weekend canoeing and camping trip to Algonquin Park found in the Canadian province of Ontario. The 2018 edition of our yearly trip into Canadian's wilderness involved exploring Tom Thompson Lake. To me the best time for photography in this wilderness jewel is right at sunrise.
🌸I really appreciate all of your lovely comments and favs, Thank you sooooo much! :))))
Please No group awards for me, and also no glitter graphics or flashing images! I'd prefer a comment if you have the time, thank you again :)))🌸
Florida is home to two of the five wild turkey subspecies in the United States, with the Osceola turkey named after the famed Seminole chief (also known as the Florida wild Turkey species) found in peninsular Florida, being the smallest of the five. While similar in appearance to the eastern subspecies that inhabits the rest of the eastern seaboard and northern Florida, the Osceola turkeys are usually smaller and darker in color.
The flight feathers of the wings have less white barring, with the white bars being narrower and irregular and black bars dominating their wing feathers. Osceola turkeys also have more iridescent green and red hints in the feathers than the eastern subspecies found in northern Florida and the east coast of the U.S. Those darker colors and longer legs of the Osceola turkey make them better adapted to survive in Florida’s varied habitats. While the differences between the Osceola Turkey and Eastern Turkey are subtle, the Osceola is one more animal that makes Florida a special place.
I found this "Tom" (Adult Male), along with a juvenile turkey, and about 20 others, in the pasture just off of Joe Overstreet Road in Osceola County, Florida.

One Tom turkey that is part of my backyard gang! I have 20 hens and 5 toms that are hooked on my "corn kitchen".
People who hate cats will come back as mice in their next lives. 🐀 🐁
Have a great Caturday, my friends !!
This is a never-posted shot from a series of photos I took in 2008 of Wild Turkeys near Little River. I pulled over and shot them from across a road - so this is as good as I could get zooming with my old S3. I've posted other shots over the years - have never gotten that close to Tom Turkeys again! Cherokee County, North Georgia
Have a good Thanksgiving week!

Helping form Lake Austin on the Colorado river in Austin, Tx. The dam is downstream from Mansfield Dam.
This is a view of a Gorge in Cobelskill, New York minus some wires and power lines in Photoshop. The turkey is included with the permission of William Stark on Unsplash.com. I thank him for his generosity..
Mr. Tom and his buddy along with two hens came strolling and scratching through my yard yesterday evening at dusk. I thought the group dynamics were pretty interesting! It's good to see my own personal lawn aerators back again as they have been missing all winter long.
I have the Grandbaby with me and she and I are heading to Roanoke to church this morning. It will be an adventure and the first time going without Anita who has other things to attend to this morning. It's going to be an Adventure for sure! Happy Sabbath everyone!

Wildlife photographer Tom Murphy is well known for documenting the beauty and wildlife of Yellowstone National Park. He spent many years capturing the beauty of the Yellowstone wilderness. In my trip to Yellowstone NP last February, my friends and I had the pleasure of meeting him. The next day, with Murphy's guidance, we were able to find this stunning lone tree. Local people call it the Tom's tree.
I took this on my second walk of the morning up in the Lakes. I walked from Torver up to Banishead Quarry first thing and then made my way to Yew Tree Tan and walked up Tom Ghyll to Tarn How's. There are a number of waterfalls on this stretch of the Ghyll and I wanted to play with my new gear, so I took a number of different compositions experimenting with shutter speeds and ISO. The texture in the water was nice at these settings and made a nice contrast with the ferns on the side of the rocks.
It did take a few shots to try and get the ferns as still as possible as there was a breeze coming up the valley. I will post another soon of the big falls a little higher up with a longer shutter speed providing a completely different feel! Again I was happy with the Z7ii with the 14-30 lens and the NISI V7 filter kit was certainly much more easy to handle after the huge filters I had to use on my D850 DSLR with the 14-24 lens.
Coronavirus hero Captain Tom Moore has been promoted to Colonel on his 100th birthday. The veteran has raised over 30 million pounds for the NHS. His big day will also be marked with a flypast by a Spitfire and a Hurricane over his Bedfordshire home.
Happy 100th birthday Colonel Tom. You are an inspiration and epitomise everything that is, a British soldier 🇬🇧

A floating ball, named after David Bowie's song (1969) about a lonely astronaut who has lost contact with Earth.
The ball is filled - every morning - with just enough helium and air to let it hover in its place. Heat, cold, and people moving around can cause it to drift away. A minuscule thread secures it to the floor.
