The b&w version of a former capture. The thunderstorm hunting during rain and wind took some hours before this stunning shot happened. In the center of the picture a huge lightning evolved accompanied by a loud thunder next to the Rieden monument, a Chapel of Maria.
I have been wanting to photograph a thunderstorm above a tulip field for years, and this year (2021) I finally succeeded.
Thunder boats heading out to Lake Michigan.
With the support of dedicated volunteers, our Boyne Thunder mission is three fold:
Provide an exciting and unique boating event for all to enjoy with cool boats and a great atmosphere
To raise money for children with cancer and people with disabilities
Promote the Boyne City area and northwest Michigan
What makes Boyne Thunder special is its relationship with Camp Quality and Challenge Mountain, two extraordinary non-profit organizations that provide unforgettable experiences for their kids. Camp Quality is a free, year-round support program, including a summer camping experience, for children with cancer. Challenge Mountain is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching and improving lives for the mentally and physically challenged through outdoor recreation.
Since it began, Boyne Thunder has raised over $623,000 for the beneficiaries and is an integral part of their success. Thousands of volunteer hours are devoted to bringing this event to life and speaks to the dedication and passion our community has for Boyne City Main Street, Camp Quality, Challenge Mountain, and the Boyne Thunder event.

On a night when I've never seen so many tripods and cameras on the beach, finally most people made their way back to their cars, but I just couldn't leave as the sky kept shouting for one last photo. This is for Anthony, who was just along the coast at Rhossili, I know he loves Bruce Springsteen, even though my version on my playlist is sung by Badly Drawn Boy.
Thunder and lightning: It is impossible for Juliana and Max to fall asleep when there are bad storms at night.
We just had one at bedtime last night. Short lived though. Wish we got more rain!

Monsoon season will come to and end soon. A concerto grosso
undefinable, unimaginable. Surrounded by the light, the calm, rolling thunder, and then the explosion.
Lee Street Sulfur Valley, Arizona
There's a reason they call it, "Arctic Thunder!"
But two of the F-15s that participated in the 2008 Arctic Thunder open house-air show at Elmendorf Air Force base this past summer.
The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways
Like a vision she dances across the porch, as the radio plays
Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey that's me and I want you only
Don't turn me home again, I just can't face myself alone again
Don't run back inside, darling you know just what I'm here for
So you're scared and you're thinking
That maybe we ain't that young anymore
Show a little faith, there's magic in the night
You ain't a beauty, but hey you're alright
Oh and that's alright with me
You can hide `neath your covers and study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers, throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain
For a saviour to rise from these streets
Well now I'm no hero, that's understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now?
Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night's busting open
This two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back, heaven's waiting on down the tracks
Oh-oh come take my hand
We're riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh-oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road,
Lying out there like a killer in the sun
Hey I know it's late we can make it if we run
Oh Thunder Road, sit tight take hold, Thunder Road
Well I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk
And my car's out back if you're ready to take that long walk
From your front porch to my front seat
The door's open but the ride it ain't free
And I know you're lonely and there's words that I ain't spoken
But tonight we'll be free, all the promises'll be broken
There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets
They scream your name at night in the street
Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet
And in the lonely cool before dawn
You hear their engines roaring on
But when you get to the porch they're gone
On the wind, so Mary climb in
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win.
An another great days chasing in Kansas, This is one of the more dramatic storms of the day, but the sunset last night was something else!

Leaving the Birmingham skyline behind 50008 Thunderer heads for the suburbs running as 5Z43 Loughborough Brush to Princes Risborough conveying the DATS power cars 43054 & 43066 and former restaurant car 40728 rebranded Test Coach 3. The ensemble will be appearing at the upcoming Chinor & Princes Risborough diesel gala. Thunderer is the third 50 we've been treated to in the West Midlands in two days.
Here is another capture from last evening as the cold front made its way through Maryland. Here I turned the camera south along Middle River to the lone patch of sky that had a hole through to the clouds that were still shining some of the remaining sunset light. A bright spot in the looming darkness of the thunderstorm clouds rolling into the scene.
Turned the camera skyward in this vertical comp to focus on those glorious clouds and a nice focal point on the bright spot, aligning with the old pilings sticking out of the river.
