I attended a farm auction and they were selling the house also with all the stuff inside. I was really drawn to these jeans and clothing that have probably been hanging there for quite a few years. I didn't venture further into the house though..

we all have to rethink things ...

Experiencing Things Physical

While capturing things with my eye

Walking forward, backward, and spinning around

I have the gift of time spent

And a wondering mind

It's magical and explainable

A story told in words and photos by me.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon in northern New Mexico with the southern Rocky Mountains. The view is looking to the northwest to the ridges and peaks with the Brazos Cliffs in the Tusas Mountains. This was at a roadside pullout along U.S. Route 64. With this image, I zoomed in a little with the focal length to center the cliffs off in the distance, while still including some foreground interest with the nearby grassy meadow and forest of evergreen trees.

with Coke...or a Bud

“Good morning, Sky, Bertie; a lovely bright one too.” Said Posh Bear as he sat down beside his friends.

“It is indeed Posh, but it is a worrying one too, well for some of us.” Replied Sky.

“Why would that be, Sky?” Asked Posh.

“I have been having an enormous thunk, and I can tell you both that I am a tad concerned.”

“Poor Sky, I’m sorry to hear that Sky. What have you been thinking about? What, is wrong?” Asked Bertie.

“It’s the buzzy things Bertie. I’m so worried about the buzzy things.”

“I don’t see why Sky, they don’t hurt you and they make our honey, so what is to worry about?” Asked Posh.

“I worry about how clever they are? I mean, how good are their memories. Suppose they had all forgotten that they are supposed to flit around the flowers and then make us honey, what then?”

“I can’t see that happening Sky, they have always made sure we have enough honey.” Argued Bertie.

“I don’t know Bertie; they might forget and the we would have no honey. I was wondering if we should help them, what do you chaps think?”

“I think you are bonkers Sky. How can we help the buzzy things remember what they are supposed to do?” Asked Posh.

“I was thinking that maybe we need to begin writing notices that we can place by the flowers to tell the buzzy things to visit them and start making honey.”

“No, that would never work Sky. We can’t write in bee and they can’t understand bear, so no point in notices.” Said Bertie.

“Ah, I see your thinking Bertie, I hadn’t thought about that. So, what can we do?”

“A difficult one Sky. How about we begin keeping all our empty jars and place them by the flowers so the bees can just drop the honey straight in the jars and that’ll save us ordering on the man’s thingy machine?”

“Brilliant Bertie, you are a genius. Why didn’t I think of that? Simply brilliant, that is what we have to do from now on. We’ll even leave the labels on the jars so if the buzzy things can read, they will know why the jars have been put there.”

“It won’t work fellas, for one thing the man won’t want empty glass jars strewn all over the flower beds. Even if he didn’t mind that or notice, the buzzy things will do what they have always done and that is take the honey to their nest which is called a hive. Only there can it be turned into real honey and then placed in jars for us bears and a little bit we allow hoomans to have too.” Said Posh Bear.

Posh looked at his two friends and could see their concern and so decided to try and help them forget all this nonsense and let the buzzy things do what they are best at on their own.

“Look, how about we go to my store and I give you both a full jar of my honey and the we all go out for a long walk in the garden?”

“What a good idea Posh.” Said Sky as he winked at Bertie. “I knew you would come up with a brilliant idea eventually, Posh.”

“Yes, I agree Sky, our friend Posh is quite brilliant at times.” Agreed Bertie.

“Just not quite often enough.” Whispered Sky as he and Bertie gave a soft chuckle as Posh stood up and they followed him to where he stored his honey.

Spectacular view during a Hurtigruten Cruise along the Norwegian Coastline. There was Rain throughout the Day, but around 21:30 the Clouds began to disappear and an awesome "lightshow" began.....

This little thing has kept me sane during this extended lockdown... no doubt speaking to like minded people here.

A set up shot for Studio 26 assignment 'exploring the colour red'. I have just read the book; a strange tale, I think aimed mainly at young teenagers but I still enjoyed it.

Having said I had nothing red, I then thought of Clive's red pot and 'grumpy old man' mug, put together with my book.

"There is a loveliness to life that does not fade. Even in the terrors of the night, there is a tendency toward grace that does not fail us. "

Happy Fence Friday, my friends! May you know a Grace that does not fail you.

When we recall the past, we usually find that it is the simplest things - not the great occasions - that in retrospect give off the greatest glow of happiness.

It's the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary; only wise men are able to understand them

~ Paulo Coelho

Life seems to be running at about half speed for me these days. Before the pandemic, my work never seemed to be completed. I'd accomplish whatever I could, whatever was necessary each day, but never really got caught up. Tasks inevitably got pushed into the next day or days. A steady flow of new work ensured that there was never more than a momentary lull. All that's in the past now. Lately I'm adjusting to the new slower pace. What little work comes in is easily knocked out the same day. I just don't feel comfortable with the increasing down time. I'm losing my focus and sense of purpose. Good or bad, our work life tends to define us and our worlds revolve around it. The disruption on work life has brought a fundamental disruption of routine. This on top of the social upheaval of distancing. It's that layering effect where multiple facets of normal life ripped apart, compounded by the open-ended nature of the pandemic...not knowing hot it will play out and what form of conclusion is in store. Lots to consider here. and none of it really good. For the moment I'm grabbing at any straw of normalcy I can still reach. Photography is one outlet. I still find myself reacting to light and shadow. Dramatic end of day lighting in particular as it descends over a cemetery. Things like this seem even more meaningful now than ever. In this dreary old cemetery, I still have a sense of purpose.
