I hope you have a great 2009! Here is a nice little one to get the new year started in fit and proper form!
I took this when I unexpectedly ended up spending a sunset alone. I was supposed to take an ATV over to another bluff to meet a bunch of paleontologists with whom I had spent the day unearthing a Hadrosaur from some Cretaceous mudstone formation. My forearms had never been so tired in my life after holding that hammer and pick for what seemed like endless hours of nerve-wracking excavation! After getting hopelessly lost on my ATV and having some mechanical troubles, I ended up near the border of Canada. Luckily, I had my camera equipment, so I slipped on my iPod and set up for the right moment.
Yesterday I updated my HDR Tutorial, and you might have noticed a shot from Lightroom with the five originals from this below the New York Times Square photo (which is a good one for the New Year!). Anyway, I thought I would share it because sometimes the other photographers that come here like to see the originals before they have been run through my algorithms...
[edit: actually, looking at it closer, it is a "slightly" different perspective...taken about 20 seconds earlier... but, well, you get the idea... just picture it shifted over about 3 feet!]

I was playing with Monkey Kid goggles and it slowly turned into a drone/bot ... and one thing lead to another and basically decided to make a homage to IMHO, one of the most Amazing Builders: Jayfa.

A pair of Class 73s in Caledonian sleeper livery heads north on the HML towards Inverness 44L. This was the first day off passenger service for the MK5s so will go down in the pages off history as the MK2s and MK3s are now all withdrawn.
Some kids hanging out on the Bund in Shanghai, China. The lights are wonderfully overwhelming here.
I'm writing up something fun on my experience in Shanghai shooting only with Sigma lenses. Love the Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART lens. Will share soon!
Happy Dolly Shelf Sunday and Happy Memorial Day from the Forty Winks Crew!
Some new friends have come and others have gone recently. I have decided to take a Kenner break so no more Kenners for now. But I have discovered that I actually totally adore the matte BLs stock! Woah! That's a big deal for me! I bought HW to customize and still will since the glare is blinding me! Then I found a TLC Goldie... she will also most likely get a makeover. And I had plans for Kozy but she's perfect so I don't know if I can do it! lol.
I also recently revamped my dolly shelf space and I am loving how it looks. Roz inspired me to steal Ava's Princess and the Pea bed and also to try the lights in a jar idea. So cute! Thanks Roz! xoxo
A Hymn of God's words "Results of God's Work in the Last Days Are Achieved Through the Word"
www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/hymn-results-of-god-work/
Introduction
The results of God's work in the last days are achieved through the word, through the word. The word helps man understand mysteries and God's work throughout history. It brings man enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, and knowledge of mysteries sealed for centuries. It explains the work of prophets and apostles and the rules when they carried it out. The word makes man know God's disposition, as well as his own rebelliousness and substance. Through these steps of work and all words spoken, man comes to know the work of the Spirit, and know the work of God's incarnate flesh, moreover the entirety of His disposition. Your knowledge of God's 6,000-year work was also attained through the word. Know your old notions and put them aside— was not it too attained through the word? In the previous stage Jesus displayed miracles, but it's not so in this last stage. Wasn't it through the word that you finally understood why you don't see any signs now? The words spoken in this stage surpass work done by apostles and the prophets of the past. Even for prophecies made by the prophets, such results could not have come to pass. The prophets only prophesied what would happen in the future, but not of the work God was to do at the time. They didn't speak to lead man, bestow truth, reveal mysteries, and much less did they speak, and much less did they speak to bestow life. Words spoken in this stage contain prophecy and truth, but mainly serve to bestow life upon man. Unlike the prophecies of the prophets, the words at present are a stage of work for man's life, to change his disposition.

Times when you regret the things you have done in the past have to come and go. It is time for everyone who had doubts and worries to let go of their regrets and past, and focus on the future.
When things were simple. When we didn’t have to worry about so much. When we didn’t have so much fear. Before. History. In the past. We shouldn’t look to the past. We should look ahead. But maybe looking to the past will help us with the future. We can’t dwell on the past though. Nor can we dwell on the future. Somewhere in between. We have to live… It’s a part of life.
To me, this makes sense. Does it make sense to you?
Do you agree? Disagree?
Tell me. Maybe we can make sense of it.
I think I may start writing things like these with my photos. Does it seem like rambles to you? Or does this truly make sense?
Thank you Vanessa for the sweet testimonial! You should all go check out her stream! It is so beautiful.

NBC sponsored this building, broadcasting updates to listeners, from groundbreaking in May to the open house on October 1. I found this info in Modern Architecture In Montgomery County, Maryland by Clare Lise Kelly.
Grimsby - 2017
The Dock Tower in the background, and Tennyson House in the foreground. Both are local landmarks; one unique and loved, the other is one of six tower blocks destined for demolition. High-rise living was once the future, they were homes to many, eyesores to others, and in 2018 they will be levelled to make way for the next future.
Today we got to go up to the top floor of Thesiger House, and see Grimsby from above. A once-in-a-lifetime chance for me, but to some families this was their daily view - the future wasn't all bad.
Im so glad the rain has let up just a bit, its really getting so tiresome with the rain rain rain rain every single day :(

I tip my hat to the great Kevin Kelly, who always seems to be surfing on the same wave, giving me hang-ten signs via his polemics. In case you don't know who Kelly is, watch one of his great speeches at TED right here.
The One is already extending itself with me. I am totally comfortable with the fact that I was a human that used technology to extend myself, which I still do to ever increasing degrees. All the while, I have felt this unexpected coalition would flip and The One would start using me to feed The Machine compelling content... I just didn't know when it would happen.
But you know that feeling when you have food poisoning, and you just KNOW you're going to vomit later, so you might as well be tough and make it happen now? I'm certainly at that point with this daily blog at www.stuckincustoms.com, where I feel wonderfully compelled to go gather meaningful content to be added to The Machine.
I push the theory forward a bit more and separate The One and The Machine into sort of a "soul" and a "body". The One is an imperfect symphony of the thoughts and desires of everyone on the net, and The Machine is the guts that keep track of all the goodies. The One is right brained and The Machine is left brained, but I am out there, working for both, as a willing agent.
I have written pages more about this, and in the very likely case that this is hopelessly confusing to you, I'll spare you the details! No worries... just keep coming back every day for another photo, served up fresh to give you a new view of the world!

"Everything around here is so beautiful.
Everything is part of the dreams we will paint
That will never look the way
We thought that they would look
When we began to step into the future
From the place that we are standing.
It don't look too good right now
But I know you're a wonderful painter
You're a master with your colors
And as mine get fainter in your pallet
There will always be an afterglow
Of our beautiful dream
That will never be the way
We dreamed it to be –
But hey, come on and wake up with me.
Hey come on and wake up with me
Hey come on and wake up with me
From our beautiful dream."

I liked the contrast of the red lipstick, and how they all look the same even though the colors are different.
I'm gonna build me a killer robot.
With all of the AI stuff goin' 'round, it cain't be too durned hard.
Can you show me how to use this complicated thing?? And can someone find an arm extension for me, because I can't reach the shutter!!
