What luck that the days are gone when even cockroaches could be spies in unusual disguises.
But then, how different is it really today?
To this day I still have dreams of rooms like this. Always looking for a lighted, lockable, clean cabin with a clean toilet.
What a waste of precious dream time!

I love old fashioned ornaments!
Update: We are making progress! We have found my mother in law a wonderful care home only minutes away from our house. She can move in anytime after Christmas!
Still a lot to do but the part that was worrying us the most is done!
Thank you each and everyone one of you for your kind words of support! You are all awesome!
Well maybe it's just this mishmash of images that makes no sense but I like it and it's made up of a few shots I took this morning. I started with a visit from my deer family, progressed through some dew covered spiders and webs in the sunlight and ended up with a 4 inch long Imperial Moth caterpillar. Interesting morning. I've been working on my vacation shots to the exclusion of a good slide so I thought I'd craft up something from this morning with the caterpillar and the other images composited together.
If you have forgotten or this is your first time viewing my photostream: Things That Make No Sense are just that, assorted bits of amusement for nothing more than visual curiosity and my idea of what I call art or abstract art. Now a series of sorts, the series is interrupted with photographs that do make sense, or at least make sense to me. You can like them or not but they make me smile.
Happy Slider Sunday - HSS!
This beauty has been hanging around for a few days. I believe it is a Barred Owl.
Thanks to Pexels for the textures.

What is That is the theme for Macro Mondays February 25th.
It is a part of something and it is less than 3 inches
It is well known that the lakes in the Upper Engadine freeze at an altitude around 1800 metres in winter, and I wanted to experience this for myself. I travelled there in mid-February in the most beautiful weather - and it was far too warm for the time of year! But the Lake Sils was frozen and I - like many others - hiked across it to the mouth of the Aua da Fedoz. There, however, the lake was open and formed gorgeous ice sculptures. I just had to make sure that the ice under my feet was stable enough, a cold bath would have been a bit unpleasant...

Sometimes those that lurk in the background... are the biggest support one can find.... or are they... bloody gnomes broke my shoe and there ~~Matthew~~ is standing in the background... LURKING... not helping...

My local hotspot for evening photography, Beachley Point, near Chepstow.
This was a random visit, which luckily enough presented the moon in a reasonably useful position.
I've done many similar pictures before, but it's something I won't tire of!
Surprised that no one has posted a shot of skin - the most easily accessible and very flexible object that can be photographed. This is a shot of a section of my palm. The logistics involved in getting this shot was quite tricky!
For Macro Mondays task of ‘Flexible’.
Another Friendship Valley Music Festival in the books. Few places or moments encapsulate the word Friendship any where on the grid. It's been a crazy last year and half and yet through the ups and downs we celebrated, laughed and sung together. It's what we do and it's who we are. I think I have a beer left and I raise it to you all. CHEERS till next time!

No idea why this lone pole stands here - it's pretty much an eyesore 99% of the time. At sunset, the sun hit this just right to illuminate it against the background clouds.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.
it seems very likely that St Anthony's Chapel was closely associated with Holyrood Abbey, which stood just a few hundred yards away to the north-west. The two were linked by a well-made stone track (now heavily worn) with prominent kerbstones that can in places still be seen, and about three quarters of the way along this track up to the chapel is the spring and carved stone bowl known as St Anthony's Well.
It's tempting to think of St Anthony's Chapel as an outlying chapel for Holyrood Abbey, perhaps constructed as a means of getting pilgrims out from under the feet of the monks in the abbey. It has also been suggested that the chapel served as a sort of religious beacon, designed to be clearly visible to sea-borne pilgrims coming to Holyrood Abbey as they sailed up the River Forth.
As for dating, there are references to a grant paid for repairs to St Anthony's Chapel by the Pope in 1426, suggesting the building could date back into the 1300s or beyond. Details of its demise are equally unclear, but presumably, like Holyrood Abbey itself, St Anthony's Chapel fell into disuse and disrepair after the Reformation in 1560.
Today, all that remains of the chapel are parts of the north wall plus remnants of another building a little to the south-west, which has sometimes been called a hermitage but was probably just a store room. The remaining chapel wall shows signs of vaulting, and it is thought that when complete the building would have comprised a small three-bay chapel, with a three-storey tower at its west end. This odd shape, almost as tall as it was long, supports the idea that the chapel was designed as much to ensure distant visibility as to accommodate worshippers.
For all that have been touched by this health crisis, for all that have survived it, for the ones that are battling it, for the ones that are in the front line facing this reality, trying to save lives.
For all the families that had and have to grieve and endure loss.
For all of you out there, my most heartfelt prayers .
“Never say that you can't do something, or that something seems impossible, or that something can't be done, no matter how discouraging or harrowing it may be; human beings are limited only by what we allow ourselves to be limited by: our own minds. We are each the masters of our own reality; when we become self-aware to this: absolutely anything in the world is possible.
Master yourself, and become king of the world around you. Let no odds, chastisement, exile, doubt, fear, or ANY mental virii prevent you from accomplishing your dreams. Never be a victim of life; be it's conqueror.”

Sitting in the waiting room of my dentist, I wanted to take a picture, but everything was so clean and white that I ended up taking a picture of the wall and mixed it with a picture I took earlier 😜
That face......I love it.
This little bird could fit right in the palm of my hand. I believe this is a Common Redpoll.
I spotted this beauty on a trip to KC, but it was on the wrong side of the road...of course! I watched for it on the return trip, but could not find it. I settled back for a short nap when my partner in crime shouted, “Blue barn!” We had to turn around again, but it was so worth it!

So very sorry to hear of those harmed in Nova Scotia. So very sad.
What better to do on a cold wintry rainy day ... have some fun with this week's Monday Macro theme of abstract "What Is That"
The last of the fun macros taken today ... I think this last one will be my post for the group.

Sandcastles
We built sand castles that washed away
I made you cry when I walked away
Oh, and although I promised that I couldn't stay, baby
Every promise don't work out that way, oh, babe
Every promise don't work out that way
Dishes smashed on my counter from our last encounter
Pictures snatched out the frame
Bitch, I scratched out your name and your face
What is it about you that I can't erase, baby?
Well every promise don't work out that way, no no, babe
Well every promise don't work out that way
And your heart is broken 'cause I walked away
Show me your scars and I won't walk away
Oh, and I know I promised that I couldn't stay, baby
Every promise don't work out that way, no no no no no
Every promise don't work out that way
