The clouds were ever-changing as the storm closed in on the last bit of sunlight.

Lott, Texas used to have two banks. This looks like it could have been one of the two. The First National Bank was built in 1903. The Lott State Bank was built in 1909. Pure guess work on my part. Lott, Texas 2010.
While visiting my sister in Victoria, Texas April 2021 we did some touring of wineries that were close by. Along the way we stopped on the roadside when we saw a potential photo shoot. The wineries of course had their own scenic landscapes with the grape vines and the river close by. 1951 Oaks Motel on Texas State Highway 290 and the 1920s Old Spanish Trail (OST) auto trail. The OST auto trail linked San Augustine, Florida and San Diego, California. What a drive that must have been! When I-10 was constructed in the 1960s, it bypassed Sheffield, and hurt the small town's economy. Thanks to oil and gas operations in the area and local ranching the town still supported 15 businesses in 2000. Most of those businesses are now gone.
The Tin Cup Cafe sits directly behind the tattered U.S. Flag, and is open 5 days a week for lunch and dinner. Check out their Pancho Burger.
The Kay Johnson Public Library opened in 2009 in this 1930s-40s modest flagstone bungalow on U.S. 90. It is Valentine's first public library. Kay Johnson, who lived in Austin, owned and operated a ranch near Valentine and spent a lot of time in the community, where she was held in high regard for her kindness and generosity. She also loved to read and was an advocate for literacy. Two years after her death in 2007, her daughter opened the library in her honor. Western swing band Asleep at the Wheel performed for the opening ceremonies.
West Central Texas is brown and rough much of the year. But if we get some rain in the springtime, the wildflowers provide a lovely show--as they did this year. The red-yellow blossoms here are called Indian Blanket, and the yellow blooms are Cutleaf Daisies. This spring, these were mixed in with Bluebonnets, Phlox, Showy Evening Primrose, and many other types of wildflowers.
Eustoma exaltatum, in a low part of the field. Tends to be a little swampy, just like they like it...
"One reason Texas Bluebells are not as common now as they once were is due to their beauty. People have literally picked them from the wild in such numbers that the wild populations have been unable to reseed in their native habitat."

Second shot near Caldwell Texas on February 1, 1980. I was waiting for a westbound to leave the siding after meeting the first EB when this second EB showed up. It had a similar lashup as the westbound. Again I waited for the westbound to leave to chase it into Temple but it never did and there wasn't another EB. By the time I realized what was going to happen it was too late to catch back up to this one.
