Mon ami Pifou (gérard Beaulieu) died, after a long and painful illness and treatment, on July 3, 2016. I shall miss him terribly, as will so many people on Flickr. Reguiescat in pace.

Large is best.

Hello!! You were really surprised, weren’t you, when you saw me sitting on your dock in the harbor! You were so curious and stood up tall in the water to get a better look. It’s so terribly cute how you do that – I just had to start giggling! And don’t think I don’t catch you peeking sometimes when Blanca and I are walking on the beach. You follow us along and like to keep a watchful eye on us.

Your round head is just the same size as a human’s. In fact, it can be hard to tell the difference between swimmers and seals. That’s why I think you’re the real mermaid of the ocean!

You have so many different spots all over, just like Blanca. When you lie on the sand or on the dock and the sun comes out, you glisten like gold – it is so beautiful! I never know where or when you're going to pop up out of the water, but when you do, it makes me happy and I love you!

Be my watery curious cousin!

A common companion at Rocky Mountain National Park - the Least or Uinta Chipmunk is ferociously cute!

Accident or impact - many people visiting a Christmas market lost their lives or are injured.

Shocked - so terribly!!

Unfall oder Anschlag - viele Menschen verloren ihr Leben oder wurden verletzt bei dem Besuch eines Weihnachtsmarktes in Berlin.

Fassungslos, entsetzlich!

Hopefully Flickr works better today than yesterday!

couldn't respond, nothing worked or was terribly slow.

couldn't open pages, only got to see the Bad Panda.

Hopelijk werkt Flickr vandaag beter dan gisteren!

kon niet reageren, niets werkte of was ontzettend traag.

kon geen pagna's openen, en kreeg alleen de Bad Panda te zien.

Wish you all a very nice weekend

I want to get applause for taking this photo - I suffer terribly from vertigo so while taking this photo my knees were like jelly and I was holding on to the roof behind me for dear life (no matter the safety railing). The things you put yourself through for the possibility of a good shot...

Fort-la-Latte (originally known as Roche-Goyon) was built in the 14th century. The work was begun in 1340 on orders from Étienne III Goyon, seigneur de Matignon, with the donjon (keep) built in 1365-1370. The castle was besieged in 1379 and saw action during the French Wars of Religion (fought 1562-1598). It was viewed as a strategic point as late as the 19th century.

The place went through some heavy restoration work in the first half of the 20th century, when the castle had lost its military significance and was more interesting for its medieval charm. The exterior has even been used as a backdrop for a movie: The Vikings from 1958 starring Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis (though a historian would point out that a 14th century castle most likely never saw any Vikings at all).

I never have any mealworm, when they kindly ask for some!

Makes me feel terribly guilty.

We lost here nearly 4 years ago and still miss her so much. Stil crying our eyes out from time to time.

We made a trip up to South Haven, Michigan for dinner and to see the lighthouse on ice. This is a different lighhouse than what I have been posting recently. On this trip, we were blessed with a wonderful day - no wind, not too terribly cold, and a nice winter sky! This was taken in the golden hour shortly before sunset.

The horses around here are disappearing, which is terribly distressing to me. So many horses end up in kill pens and are shipped overseas via Canada, to slaughter for the meat market. These two are just gorgeous. In Grand Forks, ND.

Cam-Your life was cut short.. We don't know why. I'm not ready to say goodbye, to live without you.. I was complete now a big piece is missing you took that with you... I miss you terribly. You will always be here with me.. my soul mate my guardian angel...

It was terribly hard to photograph the polar bears children. One was only allowed to stand at a distance of 1.5 meters at the exhibit. The good places were of course ricky tick away and so you had to see how you could get photos either through the windowpane or across the windowpane. Not easy if you're not particularly tall *laugh*

However, anyone who stayed in one place for too long was asked by very nice scouts to go further.

This beauty has been terribly injured and lost one of his wings, so he will never ever fly again. After healing he found a place in a bird park to live. The first year, he has been sitting on his branch like a statue, I felt so sad for him. Then, another white tailed eagle - this time a lady - has been injured, rescued and in the end found her way to the little bird park and the lonely eagle. You won't believe the change in the face and behaviour of him since then...

Watching these two made me have a little secret tear in my eyes..

It won't be long before something snaps this up from below. Not terribly sure what it is, possibly some sort of Ephemeropteran (Mayfly)

If you are anything like me, and a terribly bad sleeper, then you will have experienced that infuriating phenomena of looking forward to a beautiful, revitalising, weekend sleep, only to wake up 4 and a half hours later and are fully awake for no reason as well as having nothing to do, as if one's brain has decided to envelope, without purpose or cause, the emotional paradigm of an existential crisis that doesn't exist, but by god you feel it! Great isn't it? Urgh!

So now I got that off my chest and having now gone full David Brent, the photo, this I took last Summer at Grunewald just outside Berlin, the location was teaming with Entomological life, including the Dor Beetle I captured here...

and here...

This Wasp Beetle was snuck down on a partially rotted tree branch, don't let the Bokeh confuse you, the antennae were right in front of its eyes, and I remember thinking how does this little guy see anything, but of course, insect sight is many times poorer than that of a human, so thus they of course predominantly, feel their way around. Still, the insect world is an interesting.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

PS: Zoom in ;)

Linus felt terribly neglected yesterday. I had to spend several hours at the vet with Cleo and Fynn and he stayed at home alone. When we finally returned I had a migraine and just wanted to hide in a dark room. Cleo and Fynn were both tired and not in the best mood and didn't pay any attention to him either. I took this photo in the late afternoon when he was still sulking and refused to look at me.

Sometimes Vas'ka is terribly naughty boy...He knows we don't allow him to sit on the dinner table, but he could do it on the sly and and looks at us with its huge innocent eyes...

Thank you all for visits, faves and comments - greatly appreciated!

Not a terribly interesting image, just pale blue sky and fields. Still, I was so pleased to have a nice day for biking and there weren't many people about which is always a good thing. Maybe I'll go back there when flowers are out and leaves on the trees. Taken two days ago.

Now I've got "Rollin on the river" in my head. Oy vey.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE?

A terribly disturbing and depressing sight. This is lake Ontario, one of the Great fresh water lakes that millions of people rely on for their daily drinking water.

This took place 2 years ago. She was the backbone of our family and we all miss her terribly. It has taken this long to build enough emotional distance to show this photo. Thank you to everyone who understands.

I've been wondering where to get some antlers to make a big deer antler chandelier for the high hallway in out B&B, I'm prepared to go to some length to get the right light fitting, but having a tussle with one of these would have been frowned upon, I suspect. You can get very convincing ones made of resin, but it's not quite the same thing.

It was a terribly cloudy morning and we had little hopes of seeing anything interesting when we spotted 3 of these Grey Wolves.

This is an endangered species of the grasslands which are fast disappearing across the country. It is active at night and best seen early morning or late evenings. The Wolves hunt the animals and birds of the grasslands which include Blackbucks, Hares, sometimes cattle like Goats or sheep.

We weren't expecting this at all, and then they crossed the road right in front of us. There were a pack of 3 that were trying to hunt - and we could sight them all. They were howling and interacting with each other.

The area it frequents is dotted with poultry farms, fields, plots for sale and even some constructions - sadly! The grasslands are not even protected which is quite bad!

Thanks in advance for your wonderful feedback and likes.

This is a terribly chaotic design, but I couldn't think of a better way to fit such a bunch of poses into one photo)

I just can't get enough of the bald eagles! This one flew from the nest to this snag tree. He had been relieved of nest duty by his mate. The sky was terribly overcast but he stayed in the snag for a while. As luck would have it, the sky cleared and became a beautiful blue and, soon after, he decided to get airborne. I can sometimes be so lucky/blessed.
