CSXT 5327 leads UP train ZDUNP west thru Pacific, MO. I pulled up to the crossing with about 10 seconds to throw the car in park and get out and get the shot. I didn't expect to have to cut it that close, but it happens. The train is seen here flying down main track 2 of the Jeff City Sub, coming into downtown Pacific.

She stood alone in the gazebo as the sun began to sink into the earth. Water lapped at the fringes of her dress, but she didn't seem to mind.
From the outskirts I watched her for a moment, the fading light hitting her cheeks and bouncing off the dress. Why was she standing in the water? Was it to deter people from getting closer, or maybe it was something else?
A few moments had passed and I knew that if I stood there any longer I would regret it for the rest of my life. Water was not going to keep me from destiny . . .

this started out in a chinatown alley as a section of orange wall with a rectangular piece of purplish poster affixed. i changed the colors and did an overlay to produce a smaller companion rectangle. HSS

Magnolia manor was built by the Cairo businessman Charles A. Galigher in 1869. It is a 14-room red brick house which features double walls intended to keep out the city's famous dampness with their ten-inch airspaces. Inside the home are many original, 19th-century furnishings. Galigher became a friend of Ulysses S. Grant during the time Grant had command in Cairo. When Grant retired after two terms as president he was subject of a lavish celebration at Magnolia Manor.

Voor rangeerwerkzaamheden op emplacement Kijfhoek zijn vier locomotieven serie 6400 toebedeeld. De 6476 tot en met 6479 zijn hier standaard gestationeerd, onder andere ten behoeve van het 'heuvelproces', waarbij goederenwagens over een heuvel gedrukt worden en op die manier gesorteerd worden. Bij afwezigheid van een van de vier valt soms een loc van 'buitenaf' in, zoals in dit geval de geel/grijze 6461. Rechts op de foto is de huidige VL-post Kijfhoek zichtbaar, die binnenkort samengevoegd wordt met die van Rotterdam en dan naast station Barendrecht een plekje krijgt.

Ten years ago today was not unlike the weather of today in 2017. There was some sun and scattered thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon of May 26, 2007, just like today over the Northland. The storms made for a good backdrop as BNSF sent a couple of coal empties west on the Brainerd Sub. powered by EMD DCs. I was living in McGregor in 2007 and caught these westbounds on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.
Here BNSF 8222 West heads under the Highway 210 bridge in McGregor as storms fire up 60+ miles away in northwest Wisconsin. Three SD75Ms and a green SD60M were the power for this coal empty charging west down the jointed rail of the Brainerd.

Two old, possibly forgotten, certainly unloved, boats sit in the River Orwell, they are in good company with other, perhaps even less fortunate and more decrepid sunken, sinking hulks situated closeby.
A simple shot made tricky as I wanted to simplify the image to focus attention on the wrecks and provide them some much needed care and attention.
