Per Wiki... Temperance River State Park is a state park of Minnesota, USA, located between the communities of Schroeder and Tofte on Highway 61 on the North Shore of Lake Superior. It has campsites, picnic areas, and hiking trails on both sides of the Temperance River.
This little cove off the walking path made for a nice place to wait for the sun to rise. Another tricky place to find with only the light from a headlamp. It was so dark when I got here I thought about shooting the stars before the sun came up.
Temperance River state park is one of the most popular parks in northern Minnesota. It has several waterfalls within it's 39 mile flow.
Per Wiki...The Temperance River flows 39 miles (63 km) between its source, Brule Lake, and its mouth. Brule Lake is unusual in that it has two outlets. The Temperance flows from its western outlet, and carries approximately half of the flow leaving the lake, while the South Brule River carries the other half from its eastern outlet. After leaving Brule Lake, the Temperance flows through a chain of smaller lakes for the upper half of its length. It shares this feature with its neighbors, the Cross, Poplar, and Cascade rivers, which gives it a warmer water temperature and more steady flow than streams further to the south. After this, it proceeds to flow directly over the bedrock which is entirely igneous, formed during the formation of the Keweenawan Rift. Near Lake Superior, the river has dug deep potholes into the bedrock, some of which connected to form a narrow gorge and a system of waterfalls. The depth of the water where the river enters the lake prevents the river from developing a sand bar at its mouth. The Temperance has a drainage basin of 198 square miles (510 km2), which is the fourth largest catchment for a Minnesota river entering into Superior, after the Saint Louis River, Pigeon River, and Brule River.
I caught these two enjoying the day fishing at Temperance state park. I thought they added a nice human element. I generally try and remove all people but thought this one worked.
Per Wiki...The Temperance River is a 39.2-mile-long (63.1 km) river in northern Minnesota, the United States. It drains into Lake Superior along its north shore just south of Tofte. It flows out of Brule Lake in Cook County generally south towards its mouth within Temperance River State Park. Its name is supposedly a pun on its lack of a sand bar.

A little photo archiving from "Up North" this morning, obviously missing my beloved paradise! The weather didn't always cooperate while traveling along the North Shore, but that's the challenge . . . right?
There was very little snow, some ice on the river and it was quite peaceful on this morning. The weather was cool, cloudy and breezy. Yeah, I love it! :)

'deep hollow river'....which it is with all the cauldrons formed from the rushing water. It flows from Brule Lake in northern Minnesota for 39+ miles until it reaches Lake Superior. Along the way it cascades into many waterfalls (the beginning of one shown here)...one of the most magical is called Hidden Falls, deep within a cauldron; unfortunately, it looked better in its natural setting than in a photo....oh, I was disappointed!

*******Tuesday, November 8th...finally.
Such a long election season; everyone is wrung out from it! Much polarization in this country....divisions within families, losing friendships....I do not seen any presidential signs on lawns in my area of the city....none.
....and then there are still some 'undecideds'......maybe they'll flip a coin on Tuesday if they are still inclined to vote.
Recently went to the North Shore and did some hiking at the Temperance River State Park. With all the rain lately, all the rivers are much higher than normal.
We stayed at the park for two nights and really enjoyed this site (#25). It was more private than the others and had a great view of Lake Superior.

The rivers were all very high and raging along the north shore of Minnesota. They were pretty amazing!
