One of a batch of fifteen Volvo B10M-60 Van Hool Alizees supplied new to Tellings Golden Miller in 1989 is seen crossing Parliament Square on 3rd August, 1994.

Fame at last! I remember telling a few people this week that I required to get new Volvo B5TL / Wright Gemini3 number 454 (SJ66 LPU), including a couple of LB Staff too, but I had difficulty concentrating on the job I was here to do at Ocean Terminal due to the wide smile across my face - which felt like the length of the bus!

Some of the new Volvo's are losing their promotional adverts for Service 22 and our new Fleet of the Future will soon have proper revenue raising ads, but I doubt very much they'll look like this one!

See the whole story of Lothian's Fleet of the Future here in this special album for buses 441 to 465:

Looking carefully into the center of The Bean, one might see their future!

Then again, that future might be a massive black cloud that is going to rain on you in 5 minutes!

This man was telling stories to the young man kneeling beside him (seen in the reflection) about one of his buddies he served with and lost during the war.

During my last trip to the Nairobi National Park, I saw these two Oxpeckers sitting on a Buffalo marking their territories. It was dull day, drizzling at times with grey clouds all day long.

The Yellow-billed Oxpecker on the right seems to be telling the the Red-billed Oxpecker not to come onto her side.

Oxpeckers are a welcome to most grazers as they feed off the ticks and insects which are found abundantly on their bodies.

A confusing period in the Tellings Golden Miller story. The associated fleets of V&M Coaches/Hills of Grendon, Warwickshire, were taken over by Midland Fox at the start of 1991 and a new O licence was obtained in the Tellings Golden Miller name. The TGM colours were also adopted as shown on Leyland Tiger TRCTL11/3R Plaxton Supreme IV DJI 2517 in Brighton on 15th August, 1992. This coach had been new to Harris of Bromsgrove as GNP 111X.

Wow! I am surprised at the response! For those curious, the image was made up of shots I took in June of 2006. So the elements that make this up are sort of like my own stock photos. Zun "modeled" :-) for me last year and this shot of him was taken on my kitchen counter. (hope you don't mind me telling)

The sky is real. It's was an attempt to get a sharp shot of the full moon that failed bad.. but I kept several versions of this with the blurred moon. In Photoshop I flipped this horizontal and merged both halves on one layer. I did manage to get a clear shot of the moon during that same weekend. That is the moon you see here.. I made a selection of the moon and pasted it on to it's own layer and put it on top of the blurred moon in the original photo. I then took Zun's image and masked out the wall and counter. The picture of the orchid was taken on my bathroom vanity. I got a lot of use out of that single flower. It was the last one left on the plant. It fell off when I bumped the plant.

I masked out the flower and put it on it's own layer and then created many more layers with it. I rotated some, changed the color balance and sharpness on others and did a lot of resizing and masking to achieve the color and lighting effects.

I softened up Zun's picture using multiple methods and used color samples of his skin to paint and emphasize his eyes and lips and facial structure. Lastly I created the abstract swirl near his head by using lens flare and then distorting it with wave and ripple filters. Believe me! This an overview. I did a more things than I can recall here.

Still I can see spots that need more work. :-) It took about six hours over the course of the week and many versions to get this.

Zun... Thanks for the inspiration!

My third installment of favourite photos and images from around Flickr, taking it up to 300 gorgeous and inspiring images in total now. VIEW LARGE

Thank you to everyone included here and in the previous two, and everyone whose works I have admired but maybe not favourited here.

This version includes a lot of images which I may not have marked as a favourite on first sight, but when viewed along with their story, became that bit more special to me (for example those below). Also ones that meant something to the personal story of my life.

Notice regarding "Lot No.402_”.

From now on I will host "Lot No.402_".

The work of Leonardo da Vinci who was sleeping.

That is the number when it was put up for auction.

No sign was written on the work.

So this work couldn't conclude that it was his work.

However # as a result of various appraisals # it was exposed to the sun.

A work that no one notices. A work that speaks quietly without a title.

I will continue to strive to provide it to many people in various ways.

I published a book a long time ago.

At that time # I uploaded my interview as a PDF on the internet.

Its Japanese and English.

I will publish it for free.

How to write a novel.

How to take a picture.

A sense of distance to the work.

All of these have something in common.

I wrote down what I felt and left it.

Main story

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.

The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine

quietly.

Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.

I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.

That is the meaning of a rebirth.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

Ever since I got back from Spring break, I’ve been uber busy with schoolwork and my ‘Road To Infinity War’ re-reviews that I’ve missed out on telling you guys about all the new movies that I’ve seen in theaters! Now I have a little bit of free time today, so instead of spending an hour or more on five movie reviews as I usually do, I’m just going to give you guys my overall thoughts on five films that I’ve seen recently. I’ve done this before but with video games, but for those of you who don’t remember, I’ll title the movie, give my thoughts, then give a score. So let’s check it out!

Isle of Dogs -

Another classic Wes Anderson film. The stop-motion animation is so impressive in this film and the story so heartfelt, I’m a sucker for a “boy and his dog” film. The voice cast is spectacular with standouts like Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, and Bryan Cranston. Ever since Fantastic Mr. Fox, Wes Anderson has really been diving deep into world building and this movie is no exception. Teaming up one of my favorite directors with one of my favorite settings makes for a fantastic film based in quirky futuristic Japan. I really feel My one complaint is that there was a subplot with a American exchange student in Japan that I wasn’t quite a fan of, but that’s probably because I was so invested with the other plot with the boy named Atari and the group of dogs. Overall, Isle of Dogs isn’t my favorite Wes Anderson film, but it’s up there as one of his best.

Score: 8.5/10

Pacific Rim: Uprising -

I was massively disappointed this sequel of my favorite Del Toro film. While there are a few good moments from the always likable John Boyega and some action sequences. There’s not enough material to save this film from being just a bunch of visual noise on screen. The action in the original Pacific Rim was so stylized and beautiful, but this in this film, it’s just so over the top and hard to track, it’s like a Transformers film. The CGI in this film is absolute garbage as well, the action looks like cutscenes from a PS3 game. The film also ruins certain characters who I loved in the first film with these dumbs twists and gives us these completely unlikeable and amateur Jaeger pilots. Overall, Pacific Rim: Uprising just made me sad and confused. Hopefully Steven S. DeKnight can stay away from films and just go back to TV after this because his work on Daredevil is incredible!

Score: 3.5/10

Ready Player One -

A solid Steven Spielberg film that feels so reminiscent of his filmmaking in the 80s, but stylistically and what was actually shown on screen. Ready Player One is a buffet of references and easter eggs to almost all pop culture, you will definitely find something or someone in this movie that you will recognize and make you a least a little giddy. There were a few of those for me, the characters go to a certain movie world and they fight a certain character that gave me a huge smile on my face the entire time. This film also does a great job of world building without making it seem like boring exposition. This film wouldn’t be as good if it weren’t for how likeable the characters were. My favorite character of the film was Aech, they have some great comedy and plays a big part into my favorite sequence of the film which I won’t spoil. My biggest problem with the film is I don’t think Spielberg stuck the landing and the ending was a little cliched. Ready Player One is one of those films where I know everything that’s going to happen before I even saw it. The sound mixing of this film was absolutely terrible as well, songs were played too quietly and some other things were too loud, the film was very messy in terms of sound. But the characters, references, and world building were so great that in the end gave me a great time at the theater.

Score: 8/10

The Death of Stalin -

A fantastic dark comedy that felt like a modern Monty Python film, and that’s not purely because Michael Palin stars in the film. The cast of this film was absolutely fantastic, we got some all-stars such as Steve Buscemi and Jeffrey Tambor who play great caricatures of Soviet leaders dealing with Stalin’s death. The movie doesn’t really pay attention to being historically accurate, but more of the writing and the dialogue between the characters. It’s hilarious to watch Buscemi play Khrushchev, but with that classic Buscemi accent. There also some great non-slapstick visual comedy and improv in the film, one improv line that sticks out to me is “Who would put a lamp on a chair?” The Death of Stalin is a super dark comedy that over time, may go up as one of the classics as more people watch it. I can’t wait for others to discover this hidden gem in a pretty packed year of film.

Score: 8.5/10

A Quiet Place -

This film is by far one of the scariest films I’ve seen yet. I had a fantastic time at the theater watching this painfully scary film with a large crowd. John Krasinski completely surprised me with this directorial debut. The film consists of a tight and excellent cast, incredible cinematography and set design, and incredible sound mixing as well. Since this film is called “A Quiet Place”, sound really acts as a character of its own in this film. Krasinski makes completely mundane sounds utterly terrifying because of their implications, and let me tell you, those implications are horrifying. The monsters in this film are so cleverly designed and thought out that they are truly some of the most terrifying movie monsters! I have no idea what I’d do if I saw these fuckers in real life! This film is packed with scares but it also has a lot of heart. The family dynamic may be a little cliched in the film with a defiant teenager that creates trouble, but there are such heartfelt moments throughout the film that it makes up for some pretty basic horror cliches in terms of characters and their relationship to their family, which probably my biggest complaint with the film. My other complaint with the film is that it starts with a bang, but then slows down for a large percentage of the first act, but then it kicks back up again and has one of the best ending is any horror film. Overall, A Quiet Place is probably my favorite modern horror film so far. It’s got some slow parts and some cliched family dynamics, but it doesn’t overshadow how fucking scary this film can get and how fun it was to watch with my friends in a full theater. I saw this film yesterday and it’s all I’ve been thinking about since!

Score: 8.5/10

Anyways, those are my mini reviews! I’ll make sure to get back to my normal reviews for new movies soon, but in the meantime, make sure to leave your thoughts on any of these films that I spoke about in the comments below!

In this collection of fortune telling objects we have two antique Ouija boards, sheet music titled "Weegee, Weegee Tell me Do", a crystal ball, several repro palmistry hands, and old book of palm reading and fortune telling.

Like many of our collections this one started by chance. Jack wanted to do a photo shoot with the palmistry hands so he bought several reproductions. This, of course let to an interest in the subject and another collection was started.

Around 1984/85 Golden Miller of Feltham sold out to nearby Tellings of Weybridge. The combined fleets ran under their own identities for a while but then in 1987 became Tellings-Golden Miller, a well known name that has recently been revived by Falcon Coaches of Byfleet.

Here, an October 1986 line up taken at the Byfleet depot sees Golden Miller Volvo B10M-61 / Van Hool Alizees C335FSU, C336FSU and B998CUS parked alongside Tellings of Weybridge Volvo B10M-61 / Jonckheere Jubilee B510CBD.

If I am honest I have to admit that often I look in the mirror and want to change what I see. I am affected by what the world says is beautiful. Tonight I watched this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=321Kb8pBu5s&NR=1 I am reminded that I need to believe the truth and not the lies...if I don't believe that I am beautiful the way God made me, she will not believe it either...I look at her and I think she is the most beautiful girl ever! I guess I shouldn't forget that she is minnie me :)

My visit home to Iowa was far too short. I've only seen my niece Alaina a handful of times since she's been born, so it's like meeting a new person each time. This time, though, she had no trouble remembering my that my name was "Aunt Danielle" (after the initial introduction). We did have to work on the basics, though... after she protested because I had the camera pointed at her, I had to explain that holding cameras and pointing them at people was just something her Aunt Danielle did and that I couldn't stop. She seemed more accepting after that... as though she respected it as a personal problem. I even let her take an image using the Hasselblad (don't worry, it was on a tripod).

And the sweetest moment was my last night there. I had fallen asleep on the couch, which is right beside her bedroom downstairs. She woke up screaming and crying, and I was able to make it to her room first. She didn't question my role, just wrapped her arms around me and said she had had a bad dream and then in another minute she was falling back into the covers, already asleep again.

She probably won't remember that when she's older, but I always will.
