After touring the country in over 20 different cities, Tech Cocktail was excited to host its inaugural Celebrate event. featuring the hottest startups from all around the nation and some of the tech industry's finest and most inspiring speakers and judges. On the second day of Tech Cocktail's National Startup Competition, Maxwell Health (www.maxwellhealth.com) was officially named the 2014 Hottest Startup in the nation!
The University Libraries were well-represented at Tech Fest. The exhibitors promoted various technologies and services, including the new digitization unit, GIS mapping, RSS feeds, interlibrary loan services, a new web portal for mobile devices, gaming, and text messaging through the library catalog. What a crew!
Tech Wars was held October 22, 2014 at Valley City State University in Valley City, ND. It was a competition between 40 university students from VCSU. Topics included Raspberry Pi, GPS Treasure Hunt, and software programming with MIT's Scratch environment. Teams were rewarded points based on software requirements criteria and speed. Winners received tablet computers, Best Buy gift card, or an iPod Shuffle for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.
