”Por muito tempo achei que a ausência é falta. E lastimava, ignorante, a falta.

When I was going to Tech in the late 50's, there were three large houses and the old Central Pumping Station on this site. Around 1961, the area was cleared. the retaining wall erected and several basketball courts were set up. The school closed as a high school many years ago and the playing field has fallen into disrepair. The wall has become a favourite surface for the great local graffiti artists to display their talent. At least 4-5 layers are visible in this set of photos as well as some talentless vandalism.

We set up the new MIDI keyboard controller today and Snowpea had fun playing with it. I'm hoping that he will enjoy music production as part of our Tech Tuesday homeschooling lessons.
While in midtown Atlanta, Civy visited Georgia Tech! He learned that at one time our Administration Building- Tech Tower was the tallest building in the city. On his campus tour, Civy learned about Tech’s rich history and numerous official and unofficial mascots. He met Buzz, our lovable yellow jacket and 4 time winner of the NCAA Mascot of the Year. He was able to make a stop at the grave of Sideways the Dog, a dog who was adopted by campus during the 1940’s. She was a terrier who spent her time on campus, visiting classes and even spending the night in dorm rooms. He was able to see the Ramblin’ Wreck, the 1930 Ford Model A that leads our team onto the field for football games. He ended his day with a search for George P. Burdell a mysterious imaginary figure who enrolled at Tech in 1927. He now holds nearly every degree Tech offers, got a Master’s degree, and during WWII, went to Harvard and joined the Army Air Forces. Upon hearing the campus steam Whistle blow, he decided to end his day and head on to his next campus!
