NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center hosted participants attending The Travel Blog Exchange conference for a tour of the center May 4, 2017. TBEX is the largest conference and networking event for travel bloggers, online travel journalists and social media enthusiasts. The group toured facilities that are building hardware for the Space Launch System, NASA’s new rocket, and also got visit the Payload Operations Integration Center which monitors science experiments for the International Space Station 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year. Groups also learned about cutting edge technologies like friction stir welding and 3-D printing, and visited with Marshall scientists that are gathering information about our sun, Earth and planets in our solar system.

TBEx will address a scientific challenge in the 2012 NRC Decadal Survey: Understand how forcing from lower atmosphere acts through plasma-neutral coupling processes to give rise to local, regional, and global-scale structures and dynamics.

Headed by associate professor, James Cutler, in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, the team is in the process of assembling the Tandem Beacon Experiment (TBEx), consisting of a tandem pair of CubeSats, seen here being inspected by Research Assistant, Emanuela Della Bosca.

#TBEX and #InCostaBrava had an opening party celebration, which took us to this lovely cove at the Hotel Santa Marta Lloret de Mar. The travel bloggers and partners are absolutely the best. We've met so many new friends!
Unusual things to do in Stockholm - a rooftop tour, food tour, eco tour and pictures from little-known corners of the Swedish capital.
We flew into Barcelona and wandered a bit then headed to Lloret de Mar. TBEX had a dinner for speakers and VIPs we attended at Sant Pere del Bosc Hotel & Spa which was originally a Monastery. Thursday morning we took a boat ride around the area. This is seriously a beautiful place!
