🎼Listening Wind - Talking Heads - Remain in Light (1980)
Picture taken in my multi-scene rental apartment using the Firestorm viewer. (Happy Leap Day!)
I did this one awhile ago...In going through my archives, I found it and thought I'd post it just for fun.
I made the little paper houses, and took them outside and put tea candles in each one. I wasn't surprised when one started burning, so took advantage of it. The rest of them stayed intact and are waiting for new occupants :)
This was taken on a recent holiday in Norway. There was a small marina behind our cottage and we had some beautiful light during the long sunny evenings (EM120430_AP)
Taling Heads... I didn't fall in love with a Highway. .......
(Nothing But) Flowers Lyrics
Here we stand
Like an Adam and an Eve
Waterfalls
The Garden of Eden
Two fools in love
So beautiful and strong
The birds in the trees
Are smiling upon them
From the age of the dinosaurs
Cars have run on gasoline
Where, where have they gone?
Now, it's nothing but flowers
There was a factory
Now there are mountains and rivers
you got it, you got it
We caught a rattlesnake
Now we got something for dinner
we got it, we got it
There was a shopping mall
Now it's all covered with flowers
you've got it, you've got it
If this is paradise
I wish I had a lawnmower
you've got it, you've got it
Years ago
I was an angry young man
I'd pretend
That I was a billboard
Standing tall
By the side of the road
I fell in love
With a beautiful highway
This used to be real estate
Now it's only fields and trees
Where, where is the town
Now, it's nothing but flowers
The highways and cars
Were sacrificed for agriculture
I thought that we'd start over
But I guess I was wrong
Once there were parking lots
Now it's a peaceful oasis
you got it, you got it
This was a Pizza Hut
Now it's all covered with daisies
you got it, you got it
I miss the honky tonks,
Dairy Queens, and 7-Elevens
you got it, you got it
And as things fell apart
Nobody paid much attention
you got it, you got it
I dream of cherry pies,
Candy bars, and chocolate chip cookies
you got it, you got it
We used to microwave
Now we just eat nuts and berries
you got it, you got it
This was a discount store,
Now it's turned into a cornfield
you got it, you got it
Don't leave me stranded here
I can't get used to this lifestyle
"Well...how did I get here?" and some more, maybe not for the kitty to ask, but for some other cats among us,
"
You may ask yourself, "What is that beautiful house?"
You may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"
And you may ask yourself, "Am I right? Am I wrong?"
And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?"
"
Juxaposition or People and Posters
This is a collection of Graffiti or Posters, some with, some without ‘The Human Being’. I have photographed over a long period of time. There is also some awesome graffiti out there and all I have done is to record it. To the artists I take my hat off to you and have much regret when your work is vandalised. To the poster makers and poster stickers, keep up the good work. To the people, all I say is, just keep on moving around.
The Talking Heads
2nd Man: Can you smell the chocolate?
1st Man: No, I can’t even smell my own name.
This is an old song by the fantastic Talking Heads
It looks a little bit better on black
Criticism is welcome and appreciated!

Tontine Street, Folkestone. I thought I'd be able to resist a photo of this but after five years, I gave in. I am weak.
We're on a road to nowhere
Come on inside
Taking that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride
I'm feeling okay this morning
And you know
We're on the road to paradise
Here we go, here we go

Thank you so much for your visits, faves and invitations.
The view from Rainbow Bridge in the University Parks. The water looks a rather unappealing colour unfortunately. In summer it is quite a magical spot.
Life during Wartime.
A sad reality, I can’t get used too, but maybe good music can help.
Happy Furry Friday, by the way.

Another view of a local mansion, also "tumbled" and colour enhanced. Taking a standard camera function and deliberately sabotaging its purpose to create these fragmented, cubist images digitally.
"Houses in Motion" ... a literal suggestion? Not with David Byrne I'm willing to bet. A metaphor? Perhaps. Aren't we all, as embodied beings, houses in motion?
The "TumbleWorld" series has the quantum proposition at its heart - many planes or dimensions, potentialities, all present simultaneously. When we 'chose' one, the others fall back into potentia and the one chosen becomes the view. In this way consciousness begets the world we see.
At the very least there's the fun of a hybrid Surrealist / Cubist view.

Music Link: "Houses in Motion" - David Byrne, from his live tour "The Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno" ( 2009 ). Great sound and video, with the video just slightly out of sync with the audio, but who cares? And what's with all those industry people standing at the side of the stage absolutely motion-LESS while this incredible piece of pure funk is going on in front of them? I know MY particular 'house' would definitely be in motion !!!

Never got to see this film on the big screen back in the day. I thought it couldn’t get any better than the home theater tech they have now. Boy, was I wrong! Picture, soundtrack! …I’m showing my age.
A nearby former mansion, tumbled and splintered into multiple, simultaneous planes. A millennial Cubist view, a quantum view of many possibilities or potentials co-existenting all at once.
Note the life size bronze of a deer toward the upper right. The James Cooper mansion ( this house ) was bought from the Knights of Columbus by a condo developer who was respectful of the heritage of the house so they picked it up and moved it to be almost flush to the street. Veritably, a 'house in motion'. In the space vacated by the mansion, they put up a 32 storey condo tower. Not all developers are as respectful of heritage buildings or the neighbourhoods they build in. We got lucky. The deer was added as a sculpture along with two wolves and a couple of fawns around the front of the property. Indeed, the deer IS upside down, face down, tail up, mounted on a slab of polished metal. It's a great touch.
The title is inspired by a Talking Heads' song, "Houses in Motion". Here the house, indeed, seems to be 'in motion'. A state of transition? Transmutation? Transubstantiation? With David Bryne's multi-dimensional lyrics it's anyone's guess what the song might mean, but that might just be his point ... it can be many things at the same time. As he once said, "Stop Making Sense".

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
wife
And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here?
.......
And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right?...Am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
MY GOD!...WHAT HAVE I DONE?
trapped inside,
nothing but rain rain rain,
so I dream and fall into surreal thoughts
same as it ever was
