Splayed out and relaxed on a tree trunk in the Countrywood neighborhood of Walnut Creek, on a warm, smoky afternoon.
This was taken at Buachaille Etive Mor at the head of Glen Etive in the Scottish Highlands. It has been so dry there in the last few weeks that the little waterfalls were not there. It was a very still day though so there was a reflection.

An intermediate, or yellow-billed, egret (ardea intermedia) taking off from a lily covered pond in Khao Lak, Phang Nga, Thailand. As its name suggests, this egret is somewhere in size between a little egret and a great egret.
This adult displayed its great wing span and significant talons as it winged to a perch on Mallard Lake at Big Lake Wildlife Refuge. Allhart and I each took hundreds of images of eagles and other birds in just a half day visit to the lake. This shot is a favorite of mine,
Taking Flight - A Long-tailed Weasel takes flight while hunting for pocket gophers. Recently, I took a trip up North to photograph these guys. I hadn't been to the North Bay in 4 years. It's one of my favorite places but being in the South Bay the 2 hour drive is long for me. However, these weasels got me out of bed at 3 AM and out the door at 4 AM and I completed the 225 mile round trip and got to see 13 of them and meet some awesome North Bay photographers as well.
It's just amazing how quickly and erratically this species moves. It is impossible to reliably track them with the DSLR. I had to stop down one f-stop and set the sensitivity to the highest setting and only 3 out of my nearly 500 images of them jumping came in focus. That being said these 3 are all I needed and I was most happy with this one.

My best Egret in flight photo. I believe it is a Great Egret based on its leg color. From my archives in 2006, wetlands near the Chesapeake Bay. Thank you for taking time from your busy day to view, fave and comment on my images. It is always appreciated.
