37704 t&t (802) - Empty MDVs from Cwm Bargeod Opencast Disposal Point - Taff Marthyr & Trelewis Colliery - 09/04/87.
A lovely sunny morning today & due to the NUR strike, there only freights to photograph at Bayford (none at Broxbourne) are GBRF container trains & the same locomotives as Wednesday (66752, 713, 756, 775 & 763), none of which are of interest to me!!
37704 t&t 802 - Nelson & Llancaiach Jn - morning - 09/04/87 (Un-identifed [headcode / departure time] empty coal train from Cwm Bargoed Opencast Disposal Point to Taff Merthyr & Trelewis Colliery, which was formed of c30 empty MDVs [had taken deep mined coal for blending with the opencast "Black Gold"] & was "top & tailed" due to the reverse move from the line on the right to the line on the left at this point).
You know things are desperate when you start looking at "Shed" workings to photograph, but sunshine has been in short supply so far today & 66729 was on 3S81 the last time it was worked by a Stowmarket set instead of the usual one at Broxbourne!
RIP Terry Griffiths (you were my Muns favourite) & I wonder [probably not] if you ever visited these scenic locations in South Wales??
UPDATE - last night's 1Q90 finally arrived Broxbourne at 1721 (11 late on new schedule or 19 hours & 18 minutes on the original schedule. I wonder what company thought it would depart at 1722, 2 minutes after the Stansted Express had passed & not delay the 1724 arrival??? 2O47 the 1709 Hertford East - Liverpool Street departed Rye House 3 minutes late, arrived Broxbourne 6 minutes late & Cheshunt 9 minutes late!!!!!!!!!!

37704 t&t 802 - Taff Merthyr & Trelewis Colliery - morning - 09/04/87 (Un-identifed [headcode / departure time] empty coal train from Cwm Bargoed Opencast Disposal Point, which was formed of c30 empty MDVs & after being loaded with deep mined "Black Gold", the wagons formed the 7B54 return to Cwm Bargoed, where the deep mined coal was blended with the opencast coal, before being taken to Aberthaw Power Station for burning & the generation of electricity).

After leaving it too late to get 50% of the semaphores at Whittlesey (I wonder why I dodn't do it in the 80's with "Whistlers" on Speedlink trains, so I will have to make do March Whitemoor Jn & March West Jn) & having to miss the only local working of interest today (69009 on 5Q95) due to having the gas boiler serviced, it's back to the relatively pain & problem free year of 2008.
Even if the furniture arrives nearer 8am than 11, I've found out the partial exclipse of the sun (if it's out) starts minutes before 1Q86 is due to pass Welwyn North.
