FEC DTN-22 with GP38-2 #508 is handling corn syrup tanks at Savage Services (formerly Florida Bulk Transfer) on CIS Lead 3. The 508 is an oddball GP38-2 with RCO functions possible and a modified Going Places livery with the nose touched up in the glossy blue, albeit with the modernized GPIF logo. The boxcar to the left of frame is part of the train's consist for Dependable Warehouse, but they didn't get the load in time due to Hours of Service.

I can't get enough of these! Pecans baked with maple syrup. Chuck a bag of pecans on a baking tray. Liberally drizzle with maple syrup (actually douse them in the stuff) . Bake at 170C fan for 10 mins. Cool. Try not to eat them all at once!* Topping up my treat jar this evening has raised my mood :-)

*Those with nut allergies can ignore and look on with jealous eyes!

Explored; highest position #226, 2-7-2012. Taken in sunlight coming through basement window. The "Ball" jar contains maple syrup from my brother-in-law's property in northern Wisconsin. He makes it every year and we are the grateful recipients of his work. The "Kerr" jar contains wild plum jam that I make from local (central Nebraska) wild plums. Delicious! IMVHO, this is the best photo I've ever taken.

I borrowed this from my husband's collection of antique medicine bottles. I found an article in the St. John Daily Sun dated Jan. 25, 1905 recommending this product (see comments).

Late Breakfast...made a short stack of pancakes. Usually like to add bacon, but didn't want to cook it. Can only eat two of these.

In the basement of Gl. Estrup castle, stands among other things Apple Syrup from October 2015. You use 1 liter of apple juice, 750 g of cane sugar and 1 rod of vanilla. 1. Pour 1 liter of apple juice into the pan and bring to a boil. 2. Boil it in until 7.5 dl remains. 3. Pour sugar and vanilla grains and rod into the pan. 4. Dissolve the sugar and cook the mass for about 1/2 hour - until the juice becomes thick as syrup. 5. Taste your apple syrup. 6. Pour your apple syrup onto scaled bottles - and give it a nice label.

Weather not being great coupled with lockdown time to have some fun

The past week marked a classic start to the beginning of maple syrup season in southwest Michigan, with daytime temps warming to the mid-40s F and nighttime temps dropping to the mid-20s F.

Clearing up from the pancake breakfast and I noticed this perfect 'drop' of syrup on the table mat. Instead of wiping it down I, of course, grabbed the camera, tripod, lenses etc and set about getting the right location and POV to do the globule justice.

The tree sap isn't running just yet, but this man in Ottawa's Byward Market saw an opportunity to set up his inventory of maple syrup and honey products with the weather being mild'ish at 6°C (42°F).
