Morning mood on Lake Neuchâtel. It's 4 o'clock in the morning. The alarm clock rattles next to my sleeping bag. Get out of the warmth and out into the freshness of the new morning. It's wonderful (ok, ok - it would be nice in my sleeping bag too - after the shoot I have to go there again...). The tree for the photo had already been found yesterday. So let's go. The sky is already slightly colored. Quickly set up the tripod, mount the camera, extend the bellows - set all screws to "normal". I look at the scene through the ground glass. It's getting more and more red! Wonderful! Measure the light, set the aperture to 8, set shutter speed, then: safety shot - everything ok. Remove ground glass, mount film back, get ready for the shot. It's very quiet. I'm all alone. It's what i love.

A week of camping at Lake Neuchâtel was fun. Nature showed itself from its most beautiful side - with magnificent sunrises and sunsets.

I've been to Lucerne several times lately to take large format pictures. A special highlight was the KKL, which is right next to the train station. The KKL is one of the top cultural centers in Switzerland. There are wonderful classical concerts. But there are also concerts with film music... and more. Some time ago I was able to experience "Beauty and the Beast" here. The film was shown on a giant screen and the orchestra played live - an extremely impressive experience!!

I had my Shen Hao 4x5 with the Schneider 150mm with me. It was fun to shoot there!

The sun shone brightly into the darkness around the Etang de la Gruère. The snow-covered trees began to glow – wonderful! But what astonished me were the colors of the reflection. The small moorland lake shimmered in shades of brown and violet. I had never noticed it like that before.

I just had to come back and take this view of the plant with its massive cooling towers...

The Intrepid Camera 8x10, Schneider Kreuznach Symmar 5.6/300, red filter, Fomapan 100 sheet film, tray developed in HC-110 1+31, scanned on an Epson V800. Sadly, my film holder has a light leak on the left of the picture, I partly corrected this after scanning. I will have to see if the neg can be retouched for contact printing...

Sometimes the best opportunities arise completely by chance. I photographed winter landscapes in panoramic format: a wide plain with a farmhouse, a black road in the glittering snow, a weeping birch with frost - so 3 photos - but there is room for 4 photos on the film. It is always the same situation: everything is shot - but the film is not full. I wandered around and looked for subjects. Nothing seemed to fit. I went back to the car, which I had parked on a forest path. That's exactly where I discovered the opportunity for my last picture... Of the four, it turned out to be the best, I think.

This pic made the award: "Grandmaster of Photography" of the groop "DSLR". I am happy and a little proud!

The weather forecast predicted a sea of fog in the morning, with a ceiling of 600 meters. I set off for the Belchen – a Jura hill offering views into the Swiss Plateau. However, I had bad luck with the weather. The wind was incredibly strong. Blurs of clouds raced past me as I reached the summit at 5 a.m. I unpacked my Shen Hao 6x17 cm camera. I had to hold the tripod steady to keep it from toppling over in the wind. To make matters worse, the light meter refused to work. But luckily, I had an app on my phone. You can see the result here.

For weeks there were only grey clouds - and when the sun shone, I was at work - but the whole of last week was bright and sunny. I really longed to go to Lake Sempach again... It was simply wonderful. Not a soul in sight. A wonderful sunrise all to myself.

It's a beautiful area – full of beauty and subtlety. With one step, you go from darkness into a magical land. The light conjures contours and points in the image that I hadn't even noticed while taking the photograph.

If you get up early in Switzerland, you can experience the alpenglow when the sun rises...The sun began to rise, the sky turned pink, and I took the first photo. I waited and took four pictures in total. This is the third one—unfortunately, the rocks didn't get any redder—but I'm quite satisfied.

Not far from where I live is my dog Leeza's favorite forest. It is a sparse forest through which the sun shines because it is on a ridge. Leeza loves walking there. We only walk a few hundred meters because she has arthritis - but she is as happy as a little child when we get there.

This view of the western side of the Torlesse Range was taken late in the evening from Hogs Back, a low hill in the centre of the Craigieburn basin in the mountains west of Christchurch. Two images taken with +/- 12.5mm of left-right shift and flat stitched in Lightroom.

The fog quickly rose from the valley up to the castle. A short time later, you could hardly see your hand in front of your face...

Hazy, fragrant, beautiful...

I had been planning for a long time to go on a photo tour to Lake Lucerne again. This time we should go to Flüelen. Fog was forecast - but the southern part of the lake should be clear. And really: a beautiful, ice-cold morning awaited me.

I went to the harbor. There wasn't a soul to be seen anywhere. It was wonderful!

The sun shines on the heights of the Swiss midlands, while the valleys are covered in thick fog. That's fun - but most of the time in winter there is a thick blanket of high fog that blocks the sun.
