St. Sylvester was the village church of Schwabing when that district of Munich was still a village (well, some say all of Munich is still just a village with millions of residents).

This here is the actual old church part dating from around 1200 (with many changes since - especially the change to the visible Baroque interior dating to 1654 - 1664). The church building was extended with an octagonal nave on the north side in 1925 - 1926.

The actual old village church part dates from around 1200 (steeple base) and is still present as a side nave on the south side of the extension.
