There is a stairway right outside of Milsons Point train station which is the first stop after crossing Harbour Bridge (from the city side).

Not a stairway to heaven but a stairway onto Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Not heavenly but there is a very nice view. Probably one of the easiest accesses to the great view spot.

I'll show you the way 😊

   very end of winter

we were fortunate to have a lovely sunny, warm day to visit the Opera House. Its such a fantastic piece of architecture you just have to take hundreds of photos of it when your there. I would have liked some more cloud though to add to the image.

I've realised sometimes if you can't beat it you have to join it...without a tripod I wasn't going to get crisp clear images so I focused on bringing out the bokehs. HBW!

After almost six years on Flickr I finally reached my 1000th upload (YAY) milestone and over 120,000 views, not big numbers by any means but they are massive to me...I just wanted thank everyone for being part of my learning journey...I've enjoyed every minute (upload) of it.

I just had to do it - I had to use this title...there was no escaping it really - I had no choice !! ;).

Time to inject a bit colour in to my stream after being struck with the silver efex virus.

There you have it - Sydney in all its iconic glory - we all love it here and I hope you do too. Hope you are all having a wonderful week - have not seen or commented on many of your shots - please bear with me, been super busy at work

in 1973 I was a young Architectural student working in a studio that was part of the consortium formed after Utzon and the NSW Govt parted ways. In 1973 before the official opening a " live sound test" was required - so all the construction workers consultants etc were invited to the first live performance in the Concert Hall. At the time I never appreciated the importance of that moment. There was much going on the end of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War (American War if you are Vietnamese) a change of government - free University Education !! .. So far I have done over 100 ( 112 to be approximately precise) sketches of this building and i will continue to sketch it.

Happy 50th !!

On the 20th October, 2023, the Sydney Opera House celebrated its 50th birthday since the formal opening in 1973 by QEII. This Kodachrome image is one I made in late 1968, if I recall correctly. I didn’t comprehend at that time what a symbol it would become in, and for, Australia, and architecturally how significant it was to be, worldwide, becoming a 20th Century ‘Wonder’.
