My first visit to this much photographed location. The weather was awful but, in the absence of any decent light, the clouds provided some drama.

The sycamore tree is probably the most photographed tree in the country. The tree grows in a dramatic dip, with Hadrian’s Wall rising either side. The 1991 film ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves', starring Kevin Costner, was filmed here. The tree has been known as The Robin Hood Tree ever since.

A well known sight but one that's so appealing to photograph!

A great snowy day out in Northumberland, the snow was almost knee deep in places! Fresh snow and fresh air cannot be beaten!

Sycamore Gap was crowned England's 'Tree of the Year' in conservation charity the Woodland Trust's annual contest. Now, with your help it came fifth in the 'European Tree of the Year'. Thank you to everyone who voted for this special tree.

This sycamore leaf at Big Sur is about 10 inches across. Since winter comes late to the Central California coast, we saw many leaves on trees and fluttering gently to the ground, in addition to deep piles of those already fallen. I especially liked the light and shadow on the leaves and rocks by the trail to the Big Sur River Gorge.

Happy Wednesday! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all. Take care and stay safe!

I went for a walk along Hadrian's Wall the other day, and passed by England's most photographed tree. I couldn't do a long exposure as the wind was moving the branches too much but went for a different angle to the usual at this location.

Although late in the season, this Sycamore tree was sprouting some new leaves and the backlighting caught my eye.

Along the Arkansas River

Every year Oneida Creek washes away more of the creek bank exposing the tangled roots.

Had a trip to Hadrian's Wall yesterday, wanted to get a different angle of the Gap, so went for this shot as opposed to the classic front view, to be fair the cloud this was was far better than the other but still not ideal

Sycamore trees are flowering trees in the plant genus Platanus and the family Platanaceae. Sycamore trees are often known as plane trees. These massive broad-leafed trees grow to between 100 and 130 ft. (30 – 40 m) tall. Sycamore trees are generally easy to identify due to their bark that peels away, revealing whitish or orangey patches.

This tree is featured in the movie Robin Hood prince of thieves.

Thanks for looking.

You barely notice these trees when they are in full leaf, but come winter, they really do stand out. Not to be confused with the Birch Tree which is also very white. Everytime I see one like this I think of the song " Dream a little dream of me" by Mama Cass Elliot : www.youtube.com › watch

Stars shining bright above you

Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"

Birds singing in the sycamore tree

Dream a little dream of me....

This location was famously used in a scene from Kevin Costner's "Robin Hood Prince of thieves", The Roman wall is around 180 miles north of Nottingham.

This is the Sycamore tree by us. I tried to make it look like a tapestry with Adobe Photoshop & Topaz software. Hope you like!

This is one of my One and Only pieces, there was only 12 cast into bronze but the hand painted lady bugs makes it a one and only from the dots on the lady bugs differ one to another. A fallen Sycamore Leaf has a party of a bat that has landed on it with all the lady bugs scampering away.

Fallen sycamore leaves collect along the shoreline of the DuPage River.
