Another image I took earlier this year at Repulse Bay in Hong Kong. There is nothing particularly outstanding about it but I really like it as a monochrome.

Joshua swam in his first summer swim meet recently. He finally feels confident enough in his breaststroke to swim the IM. This shot shows him in the starting leg, swimming butterfly. There was not much competition in this meet. He easily won all his races, often by more than a pool's length. Helps when he's swimming in the 13-14 year old division. The summer of Joshua.

He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross.

(55/365) Welly wonders why Candy doesn't fancy joining him to swim a few lengths of our pond, after all she does have her flotation device fitted correctly.

HWWHDT! Thanks to all my wonderful Flickr friends who have commented & sent their good wishes for Candy's recovery. It's 7 days since her operation. She's much better in herself & is managing to potter about the house but the wound is taking it's time to heal properly & she has to wear the collar at all times otherwise she chews the bandages off. She finishes the antibiotics in 3 days so hopefully the wound will be healed & the stitches can come out.

UPDATE: Sadly Candy's cancer returned & we had to have her put to sleep just after Christmas 2015. Peace after pain.

I'm starting a new personal project about people who have a special connection with water. I still need to do a lot of testing before I start the actual project. That's why I went for a swim with my buddy Pieter who's training for his first triathlon

I realize that in this project I won't always be able to work with big strobes and assistants so I did a practice session with very limited gear: Olympus E-PL1 + 14-42 kitlens in an onderwater housing with an Inon S2000 underwaterflash on an arm attached to the housing. I shot this on manual with the flash on 1/2 power to get some fill light on Pieter. The flash is positioned almost on axis (slightly to camera left) about 40cm above the lens

My boys have no Water Polo practice this week as it's the week between "Winter" (a misnomer in SoCal!) and Spring sessions.

I took Travus to the largest *outdoor* lap-swim pool yesterday in our neighbourhood (with Lifeguards on-duty), and Austin today in order to get some swim time in during the week-long Water Polo hiatus; so as to keep them in swimming shape.

Pic of Austin during a 1km (approx 1100 yards) swim this afternoon...it was quite warm not only in the air, but warmer in the pool...
