Ants are generally helpful around the garden, but they are also sweettooths very fond of aphid poo. So much so that they farm them, taking the baby aphids and placing them on tree leaves to feed. That's not so good for your garden.
The chemical industry will have you believe that you have to buy some disgusting chemical from them that will exterminate ant-kind or else. Actually, you don't want to exterminate anyone (regardless of whether you consider them “good” or “bad” for your garden), and anybody who has used ant poison knows it's next to useless.
Here's a more natural alternative that works exactly like that pink ant poison dust they will sell you, except it isn't poison: it's garlic powder!
Sprinkle lots of garlic powder around an ant hole and soon the ants will disappear. I don't know if they carry it into their nest and then have to leave because the place stinks of garlic or what, but it works!
"Gentle" AND "Dentist" in the same sentence?
Yes, the 'doctor' will see you now all you fellow sweet tooths!!! (or is that Sweet Teeth? hmmmmmm....)

It's Louie's first day at Ritual, some I'm coming in to show some support. It's always hard letting them go on the first day. I just want to sit in the parking lot and remember what it was like when I had him all to myself.
But he's a big boy now, and he needs to learn how to read.
He did help with this though. How many times have I found myself at the rediculously dark back bar of Ritual, a shot af spro in one hand, my camera in the other, and absolutely nothing to shoot? Lots. Thankfully someone had set some jars up to dry, so I made the most of the droplets in what light I had available. Louie just engineered how to get the shot into the bottom of the jar. Now if only the photo would have been nice enough to make all this effort worth while. Waa-Waa!
I do have a sweet tooth. But I'm told anything with sugar in it is bad for you. So no more cakes, biscuits Mars bars etc. You get the idea ! It seem just about everything with sugar in it would be banned. But hey the list doesn't mention 1kg bags of sugar. So here goes to feed my addiction. I may have to wriggle and contort my face to swallow it though ! For those dieters out there a 1kg bag of sugar contains 4,000 kilocalories.
