From March 7-9, 2016, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, together with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Ocean Sanctuary Alliance (OSA), hosted an international conference on "Marine Protected Areas: An Urgent Imperative

A Dialogue Between Scientists and Policymakers."

The conference's main target was to find practical ways to implement Target 5 of Sustainable Development Goal 14 on the conservation and sustainable use of the world's oceans.

The event the New York Times described as “One of the top ten holiday happenings in the nation” was held for its 110th year in Newport Harbour on Wednesday, December 14th through the 18th, 2022.

The 114th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade took place over five spectacular nights from December 14 to 18, 2022, in Newport Beach, California, USA. For over a century, more than 150 beautifully decorated yachts and boats of various sizes have participated in the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade and lit up Newport Beach nightly. For five nights, we have enjoyed the parade in a variety of exciting ways, including a family-friendly event on the sand, by boat, or from the shore.

RING OF LIGHTS:

Homes along the Christmas Boat Parade route competed in a ‘Ring of Lights’ decorating contest, with each home displaying its own extravagantly themed decorations. The Ring of Lights has become as popular as the boat parade itself, with lights on every façade, roof-top animated scenes, and dancing Christmas trees. Visitors could view the homes by walking around Newport Beach waterfront neighbourhoods like Balboa Island and Balboa Village or by boat charter or boat rental.

FIREWORKS:

On opening night, the parade featured an exhilarating firework display from the Newport Pier, and on closing night, it featured an exhilarating firework display from the Balboa Pier.

During a 3-day symposium, ESCP Europe Master in Management students had the chance to work on their individual career plans.

50 professionals from business and civil society helped the students to discover their strengths and motivation, to reflect on personal, entrepreneurial and societal goals, and to work on concrete next steps for successful life planning.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations were the core of this year's event. In workshops, the students came up with ideas on how to reach the 17 Global Goals by 2030 and reflect on their personal impact.

The overall objective of the demonstration project is to develop and implement an IWRM plan for the Mutsamudu River basin and significantly improve the management of the river catchment. One of the ideas behind the project is that improved water quality would result in increased consumer satisfaction and this would, in turn, lead to increased water revenues for the municipality. If these revenues could be channeled into systematic water resources management practices, improved water quality could be sustained, with tangible benefits for people and the environment.
