The event the New York Times described as “One of the top ten holiday happenings in the nation” was held for its 110th year in Newport Harbour on Wednesday, December 14th through the 18th, 2022.
The 114th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade took place over five spectacular nights from December 14 to 18, 2022, in Newport Beach, California, USA. For over a century, more than 150 beautifully decorated yachts and boats of various sizes have participated in the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade and lit up Newport Beach nightly. For five nights, we have enjoyed the parade in a variety of exciting ways, including a family-friendly event on the sand, by boat, or from the shore.
RING OF LIGHTS:
Homes along the Christmas Boat Parade route competed in a ‘Ring of Lights’ decorating contest, with each home displaying its own extravagantly themed decorations. The Ring of Lights has become as popular as the boat parade itself, with lights on every façade, roof-top animated scenes, and dancing Christmas trees. Visitors could view the homes by walking around Newport Beach waterfront neighbourhoods like Balboa Island and Balboa Village or by boat charter or boat rental.
FIREWORKS:
On opening night, the parade featured an exhilarating firework display from the Newport Pier, and on closing night, it featured an exhilarating firework display from the Balboa Pier.

Students from the Hölderlin Gymnasium in Cologne participated in the first workshop at the Global Campaign Center of UN SDG Action Campaign in Bonn, to learn about the SDGs, visual storytelling and photo-journalism. This series of Young Programs across Europe will empower young people to use visual storytelling to express their views on the need for change in society, help raise awareness and accelerate the delivery of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were created to eliminate poverty, protect the planet and achieve prosperity for all.
