This was an art installation which I designed with my teammate Suk Kyoung Choi for our Bio Affect & Computational Poetics Courses at the School of Interactive Arts & Technology @ Simon Fraser University.
The project consisted of 10.1 interactive surround sound audio controlled by GSR sensors and interactive visuals controlled by force sensors.

Corner Monster, an immersive space that exposes the undefined boundaries of our mental space and the physical social space. It explores the interaction between the senses which is comprised of our biological and physical structure and its relationship to an ever-changing environment altered by technologies, social practices, and multiplicity of perspective on time and place. Participants will be exposed to a narrative through the use of visual and auditory cues that immerses them into a multi-linear story that shifts perspective from Panoptic to Holoptic. Subconscious and proprioceptive sensory stimulus of participants are collected through biofeedback sensors that dynamically modify the context of the visual and auditory components, assembling the conversations occurring in the narrative by continually repositioning themselves between perspectives and revealing their role, the Corner Monster.

our pioneer receiver has a cool automated calibration thing, you put a microphone on the couch in the listening position and the receiver blasts a series of pink-noise tones out to each speaker, then adjusts the volume and equalization of each speaker based on the sound received by the microphone.

I want this new DVD recorder to play in 5.1 surround sound through these - somewhat older - surround sound speakers. Something tells me I can't - the DVD player has a *digital* audio out, but this old sub seems to have an *analogue* in (and possibly a Philips proprietary one at that). Am I right?
