Description(Physical Details): Surgical Pocket Set, including 14 instruments for general surgery. The case is black calfskin leather with a latch closure, divided into four separate compartments, and is lined with red velvet and satin with insewn pockets for holding the instruments in place. The included instruments are a tenaculum, forceps, probe, scalpels, all composed of nickel plated steel and with the folding instruments having tortoise shell handles with retractable blades. A total of 14 instruments are included in this set, out of 20 slots provided for instruments. There is a decorative gold leaf embossing on the outer cover. Set does not appear to be strictly organic.

Description(Physical Details): Tumor seizing forceps with a hardened rubber handle. Forceps have six curved tenaculum blades connected to a two ringed handle. Blades are spring loaded. Two rings slide along slots in the brown hard rubber handle. Brown handle has diamond pattern etched on both sides and also has the following written on it: "TIEMANN & CO." Instrument devised by Dr. A. Spiers George (MCV 1876) of Richmond, VA.

Description(Physical Details): Pair of scissors with grasping needles. Proximal end has two fenestrated handles, extending to a wing screw hooked into a locking element at the curve. Each blade has three needles which overlap when the scissors are closed.

Description(Physical Details): Stainless steel general operating retractor with a hook and balancer. Apparatus is forged from a single piece of stainless steel, with two ends equidistant from the center of a curved handle with an indentation for a grip. One end has three inward-curved prongs with sharp points, to be placed at the edge of the wound, and the other is a flat balancing counterweight which intersects the handle at a 90 degree angle.
