A Ring-billed gull takes off from the water to hunt for more fish.
It would circle around the shallows of the river, dive down. Surface and then repeat.
"The surface of no image / can beat the depth / below the reality. // The raw nucleus of nature / does not reveal."

There are many "eternal flames" around the world, but the one in Chestnut Ridge Park here in NY is special for a few reasons. Typically, eternal flames are fueled by extremely hot, ancient rocks buried beneath the earth's surface. In Chestnut Ridge, these rocks aren't hot enough to create our beloved flame. Instead, there is a natural seep of ethane and propane gases--the highest concentration of these gases in any seep in the world, it seems. More interesting yet is the juxtaposition of Chestnut Ridge's eternal flame against a beautiful cascade of water. It is said that Native Americans were the first to light this waterfall aflame thousands of years ago!

A huge slice of luck with this one; An inflatable space was being erected within the confines of Frobisher Crescent and as they battled the wind to position the inflatable structure I shot away at the shapes and forms within. I liked this one as it has enough to make it legible, yet leaves just a little something for the imagination- Surface Tension felt right for this one
The Eurasian Coot is a black water bird with a white beak. The bird can be seen in the water, with its body floating on the surface and its head erect high.
The water in which the Eurasian Coot floats is calm, with a slight ripple that creates faint reflections of the bird and the reeds. The water color is a light, bright blue, which contrasts well with the black plumage of the bird.

We have a second storm move into Northern California and drenching the entire place with much needed rains.
Used a very brief break in the rains to get this shot in the backyard. I was trying to focus on that one drop that was hanging on with all the surface tension it could muster :-)
The USS Finback surfaces in the rolling hills of Central Texas, near Roundtop, hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean. Actually this a Drop Tank from a McDonnell F4 Phantom made to look like the US Submarine, USS Finback. It is yours for $3200.00.
With dust on the surface!
I decided that it gave a little relief to the photo so didn'r remove it in post-processing.
The 'flask' is 22mm high!
I know the depth of field is narrow so either there is something wrong with the left hand side of the lens or I didn't get the box quite parallel with the plane of the camera. Could be either, could be both.

If you really wanna get my presence, all right
No sugarcoat, can't be low, I need all facts
Cause baby you gotta know where my head's at
The edges of ponds and small lakes provide vegetation that interacts seasonally with the water and its reflections...always a fun subject to meditate on.
