Recipe:
Ingredients: fresh mushroom picked from local soccer fields. iPad or laptop to make the green light. One darkened room.
Preparation: make neon green background and set as wallpaper on iPad. Setup tripod and remote shutter release.
Cooking: Secure mushroom with an old reading glass case. Sit on top of iPad lying flat. Set low ISO, high aperture & adjust speed according to light/dark taste. Set ipad screen brightness to high.
Optional: For that extra zing, focus bracket & stack.
Enjoy with a glass of nice Pinot Noir.

Got close and personal to a very vintage movie projector. It was the first time I've ever seen one of these devices and I loved the look of it! It would be cool to have one of these on display and even luckier if I used it for its purpose. It's a purchase I'll definitely revisit in the future.

False Creek is a short inlet in the heart of Vancouver. It separates downtown from the rest of the city. It was named by George Henry Richards during his Hydrographic survey of 1856-63. George Richards named False Creek during his survey of the coast in the mid-19th century. While traveling along the south side of the Burrard Inlet, he thought he was traversing a creek; upon discovering his error, he gave the waterway its modern name. Wikipedia
Burrard Bridge (Background) Vancouver, BC CA
Opened: July 1st, 1932
The Burrard Bridge (also referred to as the Burrard Street Bridge) is a five-lane, Art Deco style, steel truss bridge constructed in 1930-1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The high, five part bridge on four piers spans False Creek, connecting downtown Vancouver with Kitsilano via connections to Burrard Street on both ends. It is one of three bridges crossing False Creek.
The architect of the Burrard Bridge was George Lister Thornton Sharp, the engineer John R. Grant. The bridge's two close approach spans are Warren trusses placed below deck level, while its central span is a Pratt truss placed above deck level to allow greater clearance height for ships passing underneath. The central truss is hidden when crossing the bridge in either direction by vertical extensions of the bridge's masonry piers into imposing concrete towers, connected by overhead galleries, which are embellished with architectural and sculptural details that create a torch-like entrance of pylons. Busts of Captain George Vancouver and Sir Harry Burrard-Neale in ship prows jut from the bridge’s superstructure (a V under Vancouver’s bust, a B under Burrard’s).

This stump supporting the large pot was an elder tree deposited as a seed forty years ago by a passing bird no doubt. It grew and grew and as we aged together I became weaker and it became stronger, pushing down my fences and scattering dye filled berries everywhere. When my friend who made red wine from the berries and white wine from the flowers passed away and I became less able to control its growth I had it reduced it to a stump. I felt guilty but it did make a good stand for the pot.
I was kind of excited about this one so I had to share with you guys. I really like the black and white conversion. I visited the downtown area with a friend a couple of days ago and took some shots of the surrounding buildings. I think I like this one the most. Thanks everyone for your continued support!
I like that you can see the clouds reflecting in the windows too :-)

I was challenged by Sally (Just Me) to find and photograph some purple socks. After walking for 4 hours around a very large boot sale I eventually found these. They actually say "Kiss My Bunny" whatever that means. LOL

I had thought this old cypress stump on Armand Bayou was a nest site but it turns out it is currently just a waterfront diner, as both a male and this female Pileated Woodpecker stopped in for breakfast as I floated nearby.
... that French snails are remarkably strong.
This picture has lots of lovely notes. If they are not where they should be when you open the page, going to lightbox and back again should do the trick. It's simply a Flickr quirk. No comment!
They are slimy customers, but they work hard! At the moment this one, Hercules, is getting a bit of shut-eye after a hard day's work!.
But French snails can cause quite a lot of damage and, as you may have noticed, they have a penchant for concrete! I know it's hard to believe that but you can take it as gospel, you have my word for it! And after all, seeing is believing, is it not?
According to a Pillbox Study Group report, over 18,000 pillboxes were built for the defence of Britain in 1940. But, despite the herculean nature of the task, not a single snail, French or otherwise, was mentioned in the report. Classified information is my guess.
Interestingly enough, the first thing the Germans did when they marched into Paris, was to round up all the snails! There was work to be done!
In France, snails grow on trees (see below). At first the trees didn't like snails very much but, in the fullness of time, the snails grew on them. Also, they are said to be edible - that's snails not trees - which means they are fit to eat. Yuck! You may not like them either at first but, given time, they may even come round to growing on you! (ツ)
The French are eating snails (see below) not only as a delicacy but also as a convenient form of pest control. The downside is that the snail is fast becoming an endangered species which, in turn, could mean the end of the pillbox manufacturing industry as we know it?

No trick photography, no special effects, no added sweeteners; He’s a real, live French snail asleep on the job! The extent of his capabilities is undeniable. So, where’s the problem?

In einer doppelten Symbolik schlagen Regierungsbauten und die Gebäude für die demokratisch gewählten Abgeordneten eine Verbindung und symbolische Brücke zwischen Ost und West. Die Demokratie ist Bauherr. Dem 1995 begonnenen Bau geht die größte bis dahin dagewesene weltweite Projektausschreibung für öffentliche Bauten voran: 835 Architekten bewerben sich um die Aufträge. Es geht darum Deutschlands neue Regierungszentrale wie auch die Büros für die Abgeordneten des Parlaments zu entwerfen.
Den Zuschlag für die Neugestaltung des Spreebogens erhalten die Architekten Axel Schultes und Charlotte Frank. Paul-Löbe-Haus und Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus konzipiert der Architekt Stefan Braunfels. Verworfen werden die ursprünglich geplante Platzanlage Bürgerforum mit Cafés und Geschäften und zunächst die Verlängerung in Richtung Bahnhof Friedrichstraße. (...) Das Paul-Löbe-Haus ist benannt nach dem Reichstagspräsidenten und Alterspräsidenten des ersten Deutschen Bundestags. While barns used to dominate farm sites throughout the countryside, they had a whole supporting cast of other buildings. Sometimes they were small while other times there were quite large buildings that sheltered hogs, sheep or cattle. Hard to tell what this intriguing building was but I suspect at least at one time it held chickens. On our farm, you could put chickens almost anywhere and they would be happy.

A view of the Oscar actor Robert De Niro won in 1975 at the 47th Academy Awards for his portrayal of the young Vito Corleone in The Godfather, Part II. Director Francis Ford Coppola's crime epic received eleven nominations, winning six, including one for De Niro as Best Supporting Actor.
In 2006, Robert De Niro donated his archive of 150 items that document the actor's career from when he first started sending out his headshot and resume in 1965, up until he won an Oscar for best actor in 1981 for his role in “Raging Bull.” The Oscar's De Niro won for both films are on display.
