I think the lyrics of Imagine by John Lennon have been superimposed over more images than an other song, but they kind of felt right for the times.

Adding text over images (or video) is pretty much my day job, so I challenged myself to solely create this on my iPad rather than use my Mac with all its many tools!

HSoS!

(Zur Beruhigung: dies ist kein echter toter Vogel, sondern einer aus Pappe - mit Federn beklebt

;-).....)

Hurray! This photo made it to Explore's front page. It is not photoshopped or superimposed or anything. I used a little digital enhancement to bring out the detail in the clouds and color in the backgroud. The balloon was sharp and detailed in the untouched version. © all rights reserved

Today there were 3 balloons up. I had 10 passengers. It was a pefect flight and a perfect day. Just the right amount of clouds and wind and sun and hassle-free landing fields.

This photo shows the Remax Balloon flown by Bill Baker with Black Mountain (San Diego city park open space area) in the background, and way to the back left can be seen Mount Woodson, between Poway and Ramona, a popular rock climbing spot.

About making this image:

1 - I took the first shot with a 55 mm focal length to capture much of the desert landscapes with the camel included.

2 - With the Camera still on the tripod, and with the same exposure & color management setting I took a second shot (A telephoto 102 mm focal lens) capturing the Camel (Magnified filling most of the frame).

3 - I was lucky that the animal did not move.

4 - Post-processing action done by superimposing the magnified Camel (Photo 2) to match the size of the Camel (Photo 1).

5 - What you see on Flickr is the final image: a better-detailed image quality, and extra sharpness of the Camel.

In Messina, Sicily, there is a church tower with a mechanical carillon dating from 1933. The tower is almost 50 metres high and can be climbed. From the top you have an interesting view of the church square. I took three pictures of a man crossing the square and superimposed them.

"The Dream" consists of a basic image and a motif image that are superimposed.

Taken somewhere in dreamland.

The door of the apostles, named after the sculptures of the twelve apostles of Christ that appear on the cover. The facade highlighted on the wall that serves as a frame is formed by two superimposed bodies. At the bottom is the portal, which is resolved with pointed arches with a flared structure and three archivolts adorned with statuettes of angels, saints and prophets. The whole is protected by a Gothic pointed gable and a gallery of characters between blind pointed arches decorated with tracery.

If we superimpose a thin layer of water on top of a grid and subject it to the elements, the effects are truly evocative. Waves from the water surface are added to the reflection of rays from the grid. And then the miracle occurs. The images, all different, follow one another tirelessly. Just captivating.

One afternoon, walking through the Port of Huelva, Andalusia, I was able to take numerous shots at this spectacle of shapes. I hope you find it as enjoyable as it did me.

The tower house dating back to the X-XII century, a typical fortified house with 3 superimposed rooms with entrance located on the first floor, which was accessed by a retractable ladder, while through some trap doors you passed to other internal rooms where water and food reserves.

Ellipse or Temple of the Sun

Superimposed and attached to a ceremonial rock Cañari (pacarina), a structure of eliptical tower, unique in the Tahuantinsuyo (the name of the four regions of the Inca Empire). It constitutes the maximum expression of the Inca architecture in Ecuador, both for the perfect fit of its cushioned blocks, and for the trapezoidal ornaments known as niches.

It is 37.10 meters long and 12.35 meters wide, with a height that varies from 3.15 to 4.10 meters. Its major axis is oriented almost perfectly in an east - west direction.

Multiple functionalities, studies carried out determine that this space was recorded for stellar observations and determine the start and end dates of the agricultural year such as solstices and equinoxes.

The upper part of the Temple is accessed through a double-door main door, trapezoidal, starting from the resting place, two opposing stairs east and west, which lead to a construction called "Guard Corps".

It is possible that Ingapirca (“Inca wall” in Quechua) is larger than Machu Picchu, but as Ecuadorians do not have the money to finance the excavations, it is not possible to know for sure. Another difference from Machu Picchu is that the city of Ingapirca has been destroyed. It is not known whether by the Incas, for it not to fall into the hands of the Spaniards, or by the Spaniards themselves, who were looking for gold eventually hidden between the walls of the buildings. Therefore, Ingapirca seems to be much smaller than Machu Picchu, which may not be true.

The city is shaped like a serpent, one of the sacred animals for both cañaris and incas.

But, unlike the Incas, who adored the sun, the cañaris adored the moon and their society was matriarchal. So much so that, at the archaeological site, there is a collective Cañari tomb, in which remains of a woman were found, accompanied by dozens of male and female corpses and abundant offerings of ceramic, stone, copper and shell pieces. . All of this indicates the high social position that this woman had in society at the time.

On the site, there are still traces of several other buildings, such as collkas, circular structures where Andean cereals were stored, and pilaloma, an architectural space originally Cañari and occupied by the Incas, who built houses around a central square, an area possibly used for ceremonial purposes related to the moon. You can also see the bodegas, the ceremonial baths, the large field, the terraces and the rooms, where, for example, the virgins lived. But the most important structure of the complex is the Temple of the Sun.

The Temple of the Sun was built in the Inca fashion. Researchers found that the temple was positioned according to sunlight during the solstices. Its acoustics are also fantastic. It is possible to hear what a person whispers from the opposite side of the temple.

Another point of interest in the place is Cara del Inca. You walk along a path that runs parallel to the ancient Inca trail. Along this path, some stalls are strategically positioned to sell souvenirs to tourists. And then, turning to the right and going down a little bit, you can see a rock that really looks like the face of an Inca.
