Southwest of of Overton Nebraska...

This set of images is what I live for... Those epic moments when you finally hunted/found what your looking for. It does take a lot of patience to storm chase. The waiting, the planning, the doing. But the rewards at the end are priceless. My antlers on the wall.

Now for some storm chasers... the Holy Grail of Storm chasing is a Tornado. But not for me. It is events like this that give the full definition of Storm Chasing. It really what storm chasing Eye Candy is all about! It is the "Why" or the understanding of why I do this!

One the edge of this Nebraska Supercell I felt the AWE of Mother Nature!

Surreal!

Epic

Awesome!

Yesterday whilst out on a walk I managed to capture two supercells. The first one, above Doonzele, was too small and short-lived to really be very impressive. This one, above Zaffelare, however, quickly grew into a whirling monster that spawned a tornado about an hour after I took this picture.

I didn't get to see the tornado however because as stated above, I was just out on a walk... I did not expect to come across any supercells yesterday, let alone two of them!

Several times this storm attempted to produce via large bowl wall cloud features that had some decent rotation if you were in close to get a view, later this storm most likely produced a large tornado after dark in SD along with 6 inch diameter hail!

Interception of a rotating thunderstorm at the border of Serbia and Hungary.

We watched in awe this amazing storm structure....

Texas was well known for both of these this year, so catching them together only made sense. One of the more impressive storms of the 2015 Spring near Hico, Texas -- Wide angle lens and a full frame sensor were good to have.

This is pretty textbook-like look at a supercell thunderstorm wall cloud and tornado. This is near the town of Lockett, just south of Vernon, Texas. This storm produced several tornadoes during its evening move across the area.

Never thought I would witness a supercell in the Northwest of England, but here it is, my second shelf-cloud panoramic from this incredible storm on the 13th of September, taken near Monyash in Derbyshire.

Distant supercell over the northern part of The Netherlands is illuminated by lightning. Frequency of the lightning flashes was insane, with every second a discharge....

I couldn't chase this storm because it developed far north of my location and was moving away at high speed. The best you can do then, is just to watch and enjoy the show from a distance.....

Notice the nice double pileus cap on top of the storm cloud !

Storm season has arrived in Texas, and this large supercell is one of many that (again) has created a huge hail damage path across the Dallas-Fort Worth region. This is becoming almost an annual occurrence. But they are amazing storms to view when not under the hail core. Shot just after sunset looking NNW.

Heavy rain, wind, and hail over Springfield, IL,

My 1st day back in Cheyenne and I caught this monster just north of Fort Morgan and Sterling Colorado (75 miles to my southeast).

However, 90 minutes earlier a violent tornado traveled just south of Torrington Wyoming near the border with Nebraska. I captured this massive supercell from over 75 miles away (www.flickr.com/photos/cloud_spirit/52999213681) and documented with NWS radar showing an unbelievable hooked echo that lasted for over an hour.

June was a tough month... Not only did I have my transmission go out on the truck. Their would be NO storm chasing for about 3 weeks. Of course its June and we did have few good storms pass though and I was disappointed that we couldn't go get em all.

Back in the saddle for this last June storm. Nice for almost end of season development. Under the base this storm no tornado was going to form due to it being undercut. Nice rotation in this cell though, and it was what we came for.

Supercell thunderstorm near the old homestead in Last Chance, CO.

Trying to out run the supercell storm which blew through very fast. From still, to a few drops of rain, to full on down pour, soaking and flooding anything that was in its path. Saskatchewan, Canada

It has been a stormy spring in Texas. This is shot across Lake Gordon in Iowa Park. Nice structure and plenty of tornado sirens to listen to while this moved closer and closer.

This picture is part of a wider panorama taken of a supercell over Aduard, Groningen, on 5 June 2015. Unfortunately the quality isn't amazing, but I do believe it properly tells the story.

Visible in the centre is the mesocyclone, with a visible rotating wall cloud and funnel cloud that, as far as I know, most likely did reach the ground at some point. Also clearly visible is the rear flank downdraft or RFD to the right of this mesocyclone. Especially on the left side, the various layers of the clouds of this supercell are beautifully visible.

Pano of a supercell storm moving from left to right across North Texas. The spring season has arrived.

Some excellent structure on the high plains June, 10th in central MT. Can't express how much I love these days, will miss not living in Montana some day.

This cloud formed a supercell cloud which I posted yesterday and this is the rain which covered a wide swipe across the farm land, hail was golf ball size and jagged larger then the palm of your hand. This caused a lot of loss for the farmers. July 13th 2019 amazing storm Saskatchewan, Canada, across the prairies. Best viewed in full screen, Thank you for visiting.

Storms formed over the mountains just west of Denver, CO and drifted eastward to the high plains. They clearly showed signs of rotation, but were rather high based.

After seeing a landspout near Denver International Airport, we witnessed this beautiful slow rotating supercell further east of the city.
