Super Plus at Wainuiomata on a rather dull day - in terms of weather. The riding is anything but dull.
It's taken while but I've tracked down this location and there's still a BP station there today You can see another shot from much the same era in the comments below. Here's the Streetview www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3631837,-0.6922266,3a,37.5y,72....
A neat rural garage, south-east of York. Rossmoor Garage is still going today, but no petrol, of course goo.gl/maps/EVYcMv959EWctWx18 www.rossmoorgarage.co.uk/
This looks like an ex-Shell pole sign (with an obsolete/superfluous "Superplus Unleaded Litre" panel) from the late 80s/early 90s era, but I doubt somewhere so far off the beaten track would have been a Shell site at that point. So perhaps Club refurbished a second-hand sign; it would make sense given the aim to provide a low-cost but professional-looking brand for independent dealers.
I noted on the back of the photo that there was a Rix paraffin sign out of shot, so it might well have been Rix before Club.
As we've discussed a bit in some other photos on here (e.g. www.flickr.com/photos/eybusman/49934986106/#comment721577... ), the story of Club Petroleum and its subsequent merger with / takeover by United is somewhat mysterious, but at this point (1999) I think it was still based in Harrogate.
Is the right-hand pump a Tokheim?
Voy a ver si me encuentro dentro de mi piel
y comprendo porqué nada puedo entender.
Me resulta tan raro todo lo normal,
me tropiezo, me caigo y vuelvo a tropezar.
no me va a convencer
yo conozco unos cuantos que son como usted
que me ofrecen veneno cuando tengo sed.
Creí que me había equivocado ...

Philippine Cockatoo
Cacatua haematuropygia
Philippine Cockatoos are only found in the forests and mangroves of the Philippine islands. Look carefully at the eyes of the cockatoos. A male has black-brown irises and a female has red-tinted irises.
Trapping for the pet trade is one of the reasons why the Philippine Cockatoo is a critically endangered species. Wild chicks are taken from nests to be sold at high prices. The cockatoo in this picture was confiscated by customs officers.
To combat this threat, Philippine Cockatoos at Bristol Zoo Gardens are part of a European Endangered Species Programme (EEP).
Philippine Cockatoos are also being protected in the wild through nest-watch schemes
Ever wonder what was formerly located at the corner of Sheffield & Fullerton? It was a grocery store known as the "Super Plus."
I have visited Paris, France, for about 7 or 8 times now, and this was my 4th year in a row on a schooltrip.
Still, this city keeps revealing new surprises every time. I love it!
And, in my humble opinion, get's the best out of me as a photographer.
I just love simple streetscenes like the above. Straight lines, simple shapes... very graphic.
Might print all of these scenes I photographed in various cities over the years and try and have an exhibition with them.
