This lady here is a bit different from those we’ve featured in the past! She’s not a bruisin’ brawler or a wonk-eyed wench. No, this gal uses her supercomputer brain and nuclear-powered Thought Fish to rob banks and eat children. She usually works alone but has been known to serve in the employ of a duo of damaged deviants. The power contained in her brain bowl is enough to level 50 city blocks if it were harnessed by the right individual. Let’s pray that individual never steps forward.

The 2 large fans in the foreground pull air in from the bottom of the case and create a positive pressure balance in the case. The smaller fan at the top pulls the air out of the case but the layout of the internals helps promote a natural rise of air in the case even without the fans. With the layout as it is the CPU cooler fan helps pull air up through the case and the RAM cooler is mainly pulling the air from in between the RAM sticks.

A blade with a mezzanine board. After all those years at Intel, this sounds strangely familiar.

A famous 1976 supercomputer. It has the processing power of 1/1000th of a 2012 PC's CPU.

Louisiana over the past couple of years, has built a fiber optics network connecting supercomputers at Louisiana's six major research universities. In addition, each of the six major research universities are also having a 128-node dell cluster installed.

 

This is a picture of dell cluster being installed at UL Lafayette. With luck, the performance tests will be done shortly. The cluster should be able to achieve 4.77 TFlops peak performance.
