Manufacturer: General Motors–Holden's Ltd , Port Melbourne, Victoria - Australia
Type: 28-215 Standard Sedan (FX)
Engine: 2171cc straight-6 Grey Motor Type (to its colour)
Power: 61 bhp / 3.800 rpm

- The 48-215 Standard Sedan was the first model from General Motors–Holden's to bear the Holden name (also the first car of Australian soil), commonly referred to as Holden FX (unofficial). Later models were called FC, FJ, FE etc. and the "X" stands for the unknown.
- The design was originally penned by Chevrolet (development began in 1944), but was not used because it was deemed too small for the U.S. market as it developed after the war.
- This first Holden was nevertheless a uniquely Australian car, however it was far from luxurious. There were no chrome mouldings, no heater, a single driver only sunvisor, the windows were of a "flipper" design, and to obtain ventilation you needed to use the adjustable air scoop that was situated between the bonnet and windscreen.
- Three prototypes were built by hand in 1946 at the General Motors workshop in Detroit. The only survivor of the prototypes, it is part of the National Museum of Australia collection.
- April 1948 production started at the Holden plant at Woodville, South Australia.
- Later these cars were also produced at plants in Pagewood, New South Wales, Fortitude Valley, Queensland, Birkenhead, South Australia, Mosman Park, Western Australia, and Fishermen's Bend, Victoria.
- This mid-size six-seater Saloon has a three-speed manual gearbox (partly synchronized), column shifter, a single-barrel, manual choke downdraft Stromberg carburettor, a 6-Volts electric system, single plate dry clutch, a 43 liter fuel tank and rear wheel drive.
- The chassis with a so called “dust proof body” has the front wheels individually suspended from unequal length wishbones with coil springs, semi-elliptic leaf spring and a leaf-sprung live axle at the rear, worm & roller steering, split two-piece windscreen, chrome grille with vertical slates, the word 'Holden' across the centre front of bonnet, the interior was trimmed in either leather or woolen body cloth, while a PVC material was introduced in mid 1951 and across boot and hydraulic drum brakes all around.
- An “Air Chief 5” radio, a rear venetian blind, lefthand side sun-visor, a locking petrol cap and a heavy duty oil bath air-cleaner were optional.
- In 1951 there was also a Ute version, the first Holden 50-2106 Coupe Utility, followed by the Holden 48-215 Business Sedan (taxi version) in 1953.

- Herbert Austin built his first car, a tiller-steered three wheeler car, in 1895 for Wolseley, Birmingham - UK.
- In 1905 he founded his own company, The Austin Motor Company Limited in Longbridge - UK.
- In 1952 it was merged with Morris Motors Limited in the new holding company British Motor Corporation (BMC) Limited, keeping its separate identity. The marque Austin was used until 1987.
- The “Flexitor” suspension system (produced by George Spencer, Moulton and Company) gave the Gipsy the ability to travel at high speeds over rough terrain.
- The Gipsy (or “Gippo” as it was nicknamed at the factory with typical Birmingham slang) was available as this SWB 90 model and as LWB 111 (G4M15) model.
- When BMC with Leyland merged to form British Leyland Motor Corporation, the Gipsy and the Land Rover were being produced by the same company and stopped the production of the Gipsy in 1968.
- They were assembled at the Longbridge (United Kingdom), New Zealand, Sydney (Australia) and in Bogota (Colombia).
I see Julian has borrowed Don's running shoes and sun visor and is determined to take up jogging. It's up to me to explain to him that it might not be the best choice of exercise for a 50 lb. rock. It's not easy finding the right sport, swimming is out and so are beach zoomies. My favorite, yoga, is a non-starter. Maybe crossword puzzles?
I think this is an old SAAB 93b.

A colourful brochure showing the approved accessories available for the 1955 range of Vauxhall family saloons - the Wyvern, Velox and Cresta cars. The three models were largely based on the same body, in line with parent coampny GM's policy at the time, with the Wyvern as the 4-cylinder version, the Velox the 6-cylinder and the Cresta as the higher specification version of the Velox. This accessories booklet seems to cover the various 'facelift' versions that had been introduced up to and including the 1955 style changes to the Cresta.
One of the most interesting things to note is that amongst all the items that you could consider 'embellishments,' such as sunvisors or chromium plated exhaust deflectors, are the numerous things that were considered extras that would become standard equipment such as heaters or screencleaners.
This fine key illustration uses a colour coded system to denote which accessories were available for which model ranging from all three up to just the top of the range Cresta.
These cars were boarding the ferry for a trip to Great Cumbrae, where a classic car rally was taking place on the island. My first ever visit to Ayrshire was in a white Morris 1000 van from Barnsley to Ayr in 1961. 9931 WY. A road trip of some distinction. This van has had a few tweaks. I remember that our little van did not have a radio, let alone alloys and a sunvisor. This one looks ready for anything. My dad traded the Moggy Van eventually for an Austin Cambridge, one of which I saw later in the week in Greenock.

An Allegro oddity, an LHD car built in Belgium in 1976 and registered there for its first five years, then imported to the UK in 1981, converted to RHD and given an X-suffix. Legacies of its LHD origins remain: the wipers point the opposite way, the vanity mirror is in the driver's sunvisor and the passenger side floor mat has the heel pad for the driver.

A lot of troopers got killed in the battle on Geonosis. In my squad there were 4 troops left including me. It was CT-4543, CT-4653 and CT-4345 and of course me. CT-4345 didn't talk that much and I didn't even know if they have any nicknames. We all have had a special training now. I have had an Advanced Recon Commando training and the other troopers have had a specialist training aswell.

The door to door search that we are doing is without any success until now, but we keep looking. Sometimes we encounter a droid patrol or some Nationalist forces. 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sports Coupe - The 1957 is often described as America's favorite car and was popular on the roads, race tracks, and drag strips in the early days before becoming sought after items with restorers , hot rodders, collectors, modifiers and enthusiasts. A small number of these cars were assembled in Australia by General Motors (Holden) as standard 210 model 6 cylinder 4 door sedans, as was common for Chevrolet through the 50's and into the 60's. An even smaller number of equivalent cars in the 4 door hardtop design known as the Sports Sedan, were imported ready assembled as special orders.
This particular one was purchased by the current owner as a project car from California in 1986 and has been restored to original factory specifications, converted to an Australian right hand drive chassis with replacement firewall and dash. Options include the 'Power Pack' set up, which includes 283ci V8 220hp motor, 4 barrel carburettor and dual exhaust, external sunvisor, fender skirts, bumper overriders, heater and push button radio. It is the only known right hand drive 1957 Chevrolet with correct Powerglide transmission in Australia or elsewhere. The car was completed in October 2013.

'When we finally defeated the Esh-Kah warriors we got new orders to rescue some republic scientists that are trapped in an indoor habitat for juvenile Acklays. The Acklays are confirmed to be very dangerous. I hope the scientists are still alive when we get there. When we finally got there I only saw plants, no sign of the scientists or any Acklays. Then we saw a scientist running away from something. I saw an Acklay so we broke the glass and shot the Acklay in his head."

Also I liked the idea of the yellow figure like LegionDude did. :)
On summer Saturdays in the early 80's Farthing Corner services on the M2 would be sure to provide some interesting vehicles, many operators at that time stil operated express service to Kent Coastal resorts and in addition many private hire vehicles also stopped.
This tired looking Bedford VAS5 with Caetano bodywork and a Plaxton front panel was seen in July 1983.
The sunvisors would not have seemed out of place on a vehicle built behind the Iron Curtain, very utilitarian.

Enjoy!
Some collectors like the grand 'pouffy' ballgowns, but I love Barbie's sportswear from the early days, as it reminds me of the great mid-century American designers like Claire McCardell and later Bonnie Cashin:- extraordinary women who designed for the way most women really lived ... and for the changing times. Just got two of my all-time favourite sporty outfits, (and I'm sooo glad I actually held out for the vintage versions, because I wanted to see what the fabrics were really like back then!): - 'Winter Holiday' (1959-1963) and 'Resort Set' (1959-1962). LOVE the white sunvisor hat with the hole for her ponytail and the charm bracelet on 'Resort Set', and those perfectly fitting black leggings with the little zip up the back and that zippy plaid weekender bag from 'Winter Holiday' (and I substituted red booties for the white wedges, as they are nigh impossible to get over those thick leggings without breaking, plus I think they suit the outfit more!) They are worn by my brunette #5/6 and my blonde #5... and I had a little fun showing the different 'seasons' in the background.
