Macro of sunset ... this is combination of two images where I focused first on the reflection in the eye, and then took a second capture focusing on the eye details ... both at different focal planes. I then overlaid the eye focus over the first capture layering in the pupil and iris parts onto that image.

One of my favorite sunset visions is that rare moment when you get the 'spotlight' effect. Seems as if the sun is just shooting up one last glorious hurrah for the day!

A volte quello che sta sul cocuzzolo e sembra sorretto da tutto il mucchietto, è proprio lui che tiene insieme tutti gli altri, perché quel mucchietto non ubbidisce alle leggi della fisica, togli il granello che credevi non sorreggesse niente e crolla tutto, la sabbia scivola, si appiattisce e non ti resta altro che farci ghirigori col dito, degli andirivieni, sentieri che non portano da nessuna parte, e dai e dai, stai lì a tracciare andirivieni, ma dove sarà quel benedetto granello che teneva tutto insieme... e poi un giorno il dito si ferma da sé, non ce la fa più a fare ghirigori, sulla sabbia c'è un tracciato strano, un disegno senza logica e senza costrutto, e ti viene un sospetto, che il senso di tutta quella roba lì erano i ghirigori."

The plan was to shot sunset over Pen y Fan but the mountain was cover with clouds.
Next day on my back from the black mountain I arrived at the same location and shot the sunset over Pen y Fan and Corn Du but that will be in a different post.

Luckily, the he sun appeared between the clouds just above Fan Gyhirycg (top right).

Night Flight "French title: Vol de Nuit" is the second novel by French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry 1900-1944. It was first published in 1931 and became an international bestseller.
Plot :
Fabien is an airmail pilot of the Patagonia Mail. He has to deliver mail in Argentina during a thunderstorm. Even though the storm is dangerous, Rivière, Fabien's boss, tells him to fly that night, thereby endangering him. Rivière feels responsible for having sent Fabien on this risky flight, and keeps in radio contact with him. Fabien's wife is waiting, too. The situation becomes more and more dangerous, as Fabien is bound to die. Then the radio messages cease, and Rivière can't do anything but try to calculate when Fabien's aircraft will crash. This flight disconcerts Rivière—who, up to that point, had believed that no flights should be delayed, in order to make flying more profitable. The plot ends there, but it is almost certain that Fabien has died.

Plot :
Empire of the Sun is a 1987 American coming of age war film based on J. G. Ballard's semi-autobiographical novel of the same name. Steven Spielberg directed the film, which stars Christian Bale, John Malkovich, Miranda Richardson, and Nigel Havers. The film tells the story of Jamie "Jim" Graham, a young boy who goes from living in a wealthy British family in Shanghai, to becoming a prisoner of war in a Japanese internment camp, during World War II.
Harold Becker and David Lean were originally to direct before Spielberg came on board, initially as a producer for Lean. Spielberg was attracted to directing the film because of a personal connection to Lean's films and World War II topics. He considers it to be his most profound work on "the loss of innocence". The film received critical acclaim.
