Let the light of late afternoon
shine through chinks in the barn, moving
up the bales as the sun moves down.
Let it come, as it will, and don’t
be afraid. God does not leave us
comfortless, so let evening come...

Steeped in history, the Tuileries Garden was originally commissioned by Queen Catherine de' Medici in the 16th century. Today, it retains its regal charm, featuring statues and sculptures by renowned artists, along with beautifully designed formal gardens.

Perched on a vast hilltop in Chittorgarh, the majestic Chittorgarh Fort stands as one of India’s most powerful symbols of valor and sacrifice. Spread across nearly 700 acres, it served as the historic capital of the Sisodia Rajputs of Mewar and has witnessed some of the fiercest battles in Indian history. Believed to have origins in the 7th century, the fort evolved over time into a formidable stronghold, protected by massive stone walls, seven grand gateways, and an intricate system of water reservoirs that sustained life during long sieges.
Inside the fort lies a rich tapestry of history, architecture, and legend. The towering Vijay Stambh rises as a tribute to victory and pride, while the elegant Padmini Palace echoes stories of honor and intrigue. The fort is also closely associated with Rani Padmini and the heroic tales of jauhar, as well as the spiritual legacy of Meera Bai. Walking through its expansive grounds, one feels a deep connection to its past, where every stone carries echoes of courage, devotion, and an unyielding spirit that continues to define its identity.

We experienced rain, storm, sunshine, and a great sunset in one day. Winds even gusted up to 90 km/h earlier today, and about 25,000 Metro Vancouver homes and businesses were without power due to the extreme windstorm. Hope everyone have a safe and sound long weekend!!
On a separate note, I could barely hold myself still due to the strong winds! Therefore, I had to shoot with higher ISO and wider aperture to shorten the exposure time... Still, I only got this one with acceptable clarity while all others turned blurs unfortunately!

Nestled between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde, the Tuileries Garden offers a serene escape from the bustling city. With its meticulously manicured lawns, vibrant flowerbeds, and tranquil fountains, it's the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful afternoon with a book.
........to a great weekend. We had sunshine and relatively warmer temps and even though Ive been battling a major head cold since Thursday, I got out and enjoyed that sunshine and captured some pretty decent shots. Amazing how this hobby takes your mind off things for a while.
I am pleased with the outcome of this one. With hopes of getting an acceptable night shot without a tripod and avoid camera shake as much as possible, I stood with a shoulder wide stance, elbows tight against my sides, took a breath, held it, hit the shutter button, and managed to capture a nicely colored sunset. As an added bonus, the lights from the lamp posts had just turned on, even though the 3rd and 4th lights are burned out. Someone in property management needs to be told about that....lol.
The smoke to left of the sun is a steel plant at Burns Harbor. In a previous job, I dealt with those plants all the time. Took a tour inside one and got to see the steel making process. Very interesting. Very hot! Now that I think about it, I wish I was into photography back then. Would have made for a great photo opp.
Anyway, after getting the shot, I turned around to keep walking and lost my footing in the snow. It was the wierdest stuff out there. Mixed with sand, what looked like solid "ground" was like quick sand. Knowing I was going down, I quickly tucked my camara close to my body like a football pass caught in the end zone for the winning score and BAM!!!!!!..........down I went, almost face first in the snow.....LOL. I was covered in the stuff on my entire right side and my right leg was buried up to the knee. But my camara stayed dry as a bone.
Have a wonderful week everyone. Hope your weekend was a good one, too :-)
On Explore, September 2 - Thank you!
Taken at the tail end of the 2008 winter season, I find myself actually looking forward to shooting more wintery scenes like this. Since we didnt have much in the way of a hot summer, the prospect of the upcoming colder winterlike weather doesnt phase me too much. Its always fun to "play" in the snow. What I particularly liked about this shot was the shades of color from the sunset illuminating in the water.
Quick! Someone slap me........................did I really just type all that? I'm looking forward to winter???
Well, ok, yeah, kinda sorta, I am :-)

As the Celebrity Constellation departed from the port of Key West, we had some spectacular sunset views from the ship's open upper upper decks as we sailed into the Gulf of Mexico. Here, you can see one of several schooners that offer sunset cruises from Key West. (Interested? Check out the Sebago Appledore V, the Spirit of Independence, or the Jolly Rover.)
