A re-edit of a old crop sensor file from a few yonks ago. Just love the new up-dated software that really deals to the noise and enlarges the file for printing with out any loss of details...even enhances the image with the up-date this week. Why spend mega-bucks on lots of gear? But who can resist a new toy...

Looking from the summit of Mount Maunganui towards Major Island in the distance with a fisherman in his runabout heading for Tauranga Harbour. Makes the hooman seem really small in the vast open sea...

this was about a hour after the most beautiful sunset from last summer. The sky kept coloring long after the sun was gone. On the way back home i had to stop (again ;-)) for taking a few images, it was almost dark.

Thanks everyone for visiting my stream!

Cool wet clouds roll under the warm coastal air over Mt Somerville and Mt Tomewin in the foothills of the border ranges. The Gold Coast is in for another summer storm tonight.

Another shot from my walk along the beach last week, this time a longer exposure as a wave rushed back to the deep, the sky was ablaze with Crepuscular rays at this point but was changing all the time as the sun got lower in the cloud.

The wet Pacific Ocean sand gives a nice reflection of Huntington Beach Pier as the sun sets between the piers in Orange County California on November 23rd 2025.

A little bit of mud and a whole lot of sunset! This was a sunset that I will never forget. I posted other images from this sunset but just found this one in the archives.

As the day ends, the Philippine Sea puts on a breathtaking show with these dramatic cloud formations glowing in the light of the setting sun. The island silhouette in the distance adds a perfect touch to this peaceful and vibrant evening scene. Nature never ceases to amaze!

These love locks, once bright and full of promise, are now slowly rusting under the weight of time, sun, and sea air. ️ A reminder that love, like these locks, needs care and attention to withstand the elements.

The Mersey Gateway Bridge in my home town of Runcorn. I have enjoyed the peaceful splendour of this view quite a few times since the bridges completion a few years ago but this evening I also had some nice orange sky to go with it.

The sunset lights reflection on the street’s sidewalk. Israel’s regular summer day.

After posting a shot with Worthing pier in it yesterday I thought I would post another in totally different conditions.

A high tide sunset with waves coming in can be a tricky game sometimes along this beach as there are some steeply shelving banks of shingle to catch out the unknowing.

Here I was taking shots as I was heading towards the pier between the sets of Wooden groynes, the sun was now behind the bank of cloud but still giving me some lovely colour.

I did not want a long exposure to take away all the detail of the sea but just enough to capture the flow back from a receding wave, you have to be smart on the remote button at the right time.

Anther wet and windy day here , got a soaking on a walk first thing and looks like it will be wet around sunset time again not that a sunset looks likely again today.

Posting while I can today as my internet keeps dropping out today . I like to find different perspectives on familiar subjects and this was perfect. On a walk down beside the River Adur I spotted a flooded area and in that flood water was a small but nice reflection of the chapel at Lancing College and that reminds me I ought to go back and take some shots inside the chapel again, here is a shot I did sometime back

, As I remember there are only certain times you can go in there and not in term time.

With the 70-200 on I was able to get in a bit tighter rather than sink into mud at the waters edge.

I was lucky with the sky that day too it was a nice warm sky and beautifully reflected in the flooded area .

A re work of an older image when I wished I had a longer lens with me .Strolling in the sunset reflection in Cornwall.

Sun set over Florence, casting a warm golden glow on the historic Ponte Vecchio and the calm waters of the Arno River, mirroring the timeless charm of the city.

Captured in: Blydenburgh Park, Smithtown, NY.

Had a few more shots to share from my recent outing to Blydenburgh Park. I happened to love the reflections on the pond that evening, as the clouds / sunset put forth such a wide array of colors.

By this time, my son decided to camp out at the end of the dock. He was getting a little tired of waiting for me to finish taking my sunset shots. Unfortunately In doing so, he positioned himself perfectly to become the subject of several more shots -- effectively extending his stay at the lake. ;)

As I mentioned in earlier posts, this is a favorite location of mine when it comes to my photostream -- one that focuses on the docks along Old Stump Pond.

I hope to be able to have some nice spring pictures to post soon, as I'm quite ready to leave these rather frigid looking shots / temps behind.

HDR image constructed from 3 bracketed shots - 2 stop differential between each image.

Images processed w/ Photomatix, and finished in Photoshop -- including the use of Topaz lab plugins and filters.

She Lies is a floating sculpture located in the Oslo Fjord, directly in front of the Oslo Opera House. Created by Italian artist Monica Bonvicini, the work is a permanent installation that rotates with the wind and tide.

It represents a massive iceberg and symbolizes the constant change between nature and culture, as well as the impact of global warming.

Third image in my Ice and Snow series...

Awash in the lovely colors of the sunset, this ice fisherman kneels beside the hole in the ice and adjusts his set up. You can see the little flag that trips and springs up to alert the fisherman when a fish has pulled on the bait. That usually triggers a mad dash to grab the line and try to reel in the fish!

Notice the knobby soles on the fisherman's boots, to give better traction when walking on the slippery ice. It only takes a split second and a person can land with a thud on the ice and be in a world of hurt with a broken bone or injured muscle :(

It has been about 15 F. around here for about a week and our local harbor on the Sheboygan River has frozen over with ice. That makes the local ice fishermen very happy, and they were out in short order, drilling holes in the 5-inch ice and hoping to catch the big ones!

Ice fishing is really for the die hards since it's very cold with the strong winds and biting temperatures.

But they dress accordingly with lots of layers, and are always happy being out on the ice and trying their luck.

The species they can catch there are Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Northern pike, and some Smallmouth bass.

A summer sunset at low tide, the little streams of water flowing around picking up the reflections from the late evening sky .

West Pond, Parsonsfield, Maine.

Sunset today on West Pond.

Waterhead is a small town in Cumbria. In Waterhead, there is Waterhead Pier and the Marine, providing a nice walk past Lake Windermere. To take this photo, I set up my tripod on a jetty before the time of the sunset to capture the changing colour of the sky more. This is the second photograph I have posted of the sunset, and I am really pleased with my photos.

The finale from my latest video - I hope you'll give it a watch - if you haven't already - youtu.be/DAeA29lM5oc

Laguna Rosa in Torrevieja, Spain. Sadly it was not displaying it's trademark pink colour when I went but the conditions were gorgeous. I captured the sun just as it was dropping below the distant hills and then another, slightly longer exposure a few minutes later to get the best of the colours in the sky and reflections in the water. All while be ferociously attacked by the local mosquitoes that came out as the sun went down. Lots of bites but worth it I think
