As I soared above Surf City, NC, I captured a scene layered with beauty and drama. The first layer, the surf, lay restless and powerful, its waves crashing against the shore and reflecting the sky’s brilliance. Next, a row of black houses stood silhouetted against the horizon, their shapes stark and defined. Above them, the sun bathed the sky in warm hues, with thin clouds adding delicate texture. The final layer, a thick, heavy rain cloud, loomed over the city, its misty bottom fading from gold to black, creating a striking contrast.

The interplay of these layers created a visual symphony, each element contributing to the overall mood of tranquility and awe. The surf’s relentless motion, the houses’ dark outlines, the sun’s golden glow, and the rain cloud’s dramatic presence all combined to form a scene of serene magnificence.

Hovering above, I felt a sense of wonder as I captured this fleeting moment. The harmony of light and shadow, the powerful movement of the surf, and the stillness of the houses all spoke to the beauty of nature’s daily rhythms. It was a reminder of the simple yet profound moments that can be found in the world around us.

To view these skimmers was a huge gifted thrill; especially at sundown.

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in South Lancaster Ontario - known to us as Doris' church because of the lovely painting she did of it.

This picture was taken while out snow goose chasing and I caught it with the sun reflecting in the stained glass windows.
