Built in the 14th century, likely by Genoese merchants, the fortress was constructed to oversee the trading routes by sea and land in the region. In the 15th century, it was integrated into the Wallachian fortification system by King Mircea the Elder. However, in 1420, the fortress fell under Ottoman control and remained so for over 450 years, until the War of Independence in 1877.

Fished under another bridge this evening to experiment and caught some little ones, but we were there for the sunset. I naturally my wife's camera on belt and snapped some pictures when the sun started down.
Tried to catch the gulls in the sunset and finally got a couple as you can see.
The setting sun is casting a warm golden glow as a westbound Norfolk Southern container train passes through Berea, Ohio.
Eng.: Here's another picture of Crater Lake from my trip to the USA in summer 2023. It shows the beautiful Crater Lake in Oregon during a magnificent and colorful Sunset. The sun is surrounded by stunning aperture stars and a wide path of the golden sunset reflection on the deep and still water leads right to the view point I took the picture from.

Stena Ro Ro's "Stena Carrier " berthed in Dun Laoghaire while the crew are on shore leave, in between charter duties before heading off on long term charter to P & O on their Teesport/ Rotterdam service ( previously operated by WILHELMINE ).
In 2018, the Stena Carrier was sold to Baja Ferries and renamed M / F Mexico Star.
Its sister ship, the Stena Foreteller is about to take up a short term charter for Irish Ferries while their own fleet is on overhaul, Foreteller expected to operate the mainly freight Dublin-Cherbourg route in January 2020.
For today's shot, I went out to shoot sunset at George Washington Bridge. This bridge connects New Jersey to New York City. It receives an estimated 102 million vehicles per year making it the busiest bridge in the world.
I was dissapointed when I first got to the bridge. I immediately saw that the sunset I had hoped for was clearly not going to happen. There were clouds, but a bit too many of them. The sun was nowhere to be found.
There were several photographers with their cameras and tripods alongside me who all decided to pack up and leave a few minutes before sunset because they were dissapointed just like I was. I was the only person left. I decided to stay, hoping that something would change.
Well, the sunset never came but as soon as the blue hour skies rolled in, so did golden clouds. Not sure where they came from but the wind was blowing pretty strong. All the other photographers packed up and went home because plan A was a failure. I resorted to plan B and decided to photograph into the night which brought me this lovely sky with golden clouds I am not sure I have ever seen at night in New York before. Always remember that when your plan goes south, don't give up. Re-think, re-tool, and re-do. It may pay dividends.
