The sun breaks through over the tidal marsh area around the Skaget Valley of the North Puget Sound. A muddy place to walk, but a rewarding place to experience nature.
A natural forest frame from the view overlooking Samish Bay and the San Juan Island cluster. A dark and brooding cloud front moves north to south with periodic rain squalls. The dynamic scene framed by the tree tops was worth standing for 30 minutes in the near freezing wind.
The clouds churn with a fiery mood on the horizon, but even they will soon go dark.
