Taransay is a small island off the west coast of south Harris. It was one of several remote islands we recently visited on a 2wk sailing voyage round the Hebrides on my friend Eddie's yacht Boomerang. It came to prominence as the location for the BBC's 'Castaway 2000' series. It is a wonderful, peaceful spot with ruined sheilings, forgotten lazy-beds and wild deer. There was a large whale bone washed up on the beach when we were there and the only footprints in the sand were from an otter. However the midgies were terrible!

Last Tuesday evenings sunset turned into something quite special. I was on my way home from work and again struggled to find a location good enough to do the sky justice. These tracks in a field near Amble where the best I could manage.

This image is a combination of two exposures, one exposed for the foreground and one exposed for the sky. The two images where combined manually in Photoshop Elements 9 using layers and masks before boosting contrast slightly then resizing and a slight sharpening.

Was lucky enough to be let out of work early enough to race to Porthcawl to catch the amazing sunset. This was taken on the edge of a rather large rock pool.

Unfortunately messed up exposing for the shadows and not sure I can do any post processing to fix!

Just west of Dekalb on malta rd was this flooded field. So because of the flooded field I got this outstanding sunset photo. After the sunset I also got this still water barn shot...

Beautiful sunset tonight!

The light in the sky before the sun finally hit the horizon was wonderful, but pretty much disappeared as soon at it went down this evening, which was a bit disappointing. However, after driving like a mad thing and almost running to get here I had to shoot something!!
