The Summer Solstice is on 21st June in the Northern Hemisphere, and officially marks the beginning of the astronomical summer.
Have a great day everyone, its the longest day of the year here in the Northern Hemisphere. I have been enjoying the light evenings and so I have brought you an image of a Summery Solstice Fence just as the Sun begins to set. May you have a magical Summer Solstice Evening ~ KissThePixel2019

Shifting from the autumnal equinox in the previous post to the summer solstice here. Clouds light up beautifully at sunrise on the longest day of the year, looking at Galena Mountain above Turquoise Lake in the Sawatch Range of Colorado.
A view across the Arboretum Pond at the For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, near the summer solstice, 2022. The light here is best about 1-2 hours before actual sunset, while it is just above the trees.

Dusk, Folkestone, on the longest day. (That's a strange way to describe it, now that I think about it.)
Taken on the summer solstice in 2016. I was trying to capture a "laid back" mood with soft tones and a cool temperature.
As with anything I post here, feedback is always welcomed.

The most beautiful morning, this pano doesn't actually do it justice. I woke up at 4-30am and looked outside and thought the windows were all fogged up but it was a blanket of thick mist outside. I jumped out of bed, grabbed the phone and camera and hot footed it up the hill to take a few shots. This was a little later when a lot of it had burned off but there were pockets in the valley below. What a way to start the day :)
Wishing all you awesome people a truly blessed festive season. Let peace, prosperity and lovingkindness prevail on Mother Earth next year. Much love to you all xxx
On the Summer solstice the Sun is at the Zenith, at the highest point in the sky, along the Tropic of Cancer, at noon. Between the Arctic circle and the North Pole the Sun doesn't set and so here is a day of 24 hours of light. The Summer Solstice is connected to the theme of rebirth and a new beginning. Naturally June 21st corresponds to the Summer solstice only in the northern hemisphere, since in the southern hemisphere this date corresponds with the Winter solstice and therefore with the shortest day of the year.

On the night of summer solstice, a thunderstorm roared from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The monsoon brings rain and thunderstorms during the summer. Lightning strikes Los Angeles and the Angeles National Forest, along with strong wind gusts up reaching up to 110mph. The buildings in the foreground are Cal Poly Pomona. The historic landmark CLA Building, which usually dominates the skyline, is seen being demolished. Earlier at 9am that day in the San Gabriel Valley, a woman and her two dogs were struck by lightning in Pico Rivera. She was the first fatality by lightning strike in the nation in 2022.

The moon was clearly visible yesterday evening just before sunset. Not the best moon photo I know, but I liked how the bird popped into the frame. :-)
Phlox is one my favorite plants in the flower bedsthat surround our house in Kentucky tended by my wife. This photo took advantage of early morning light on the 2022 Summer Solstice.
