Da www.famefestival.it/?page_id=4:
FAME festival è morto
Come siete eravamo. come siamo sarete, sempre peggio e tardi.
FAME festival is dead
How you are we were. how we are you will be. always too late though.
What you’ll read below is the old text:
FAME (eng) = the state or quality of being widely honored and acclaimed, favorable public reputation (ita = fama, successo).
FAME (ita) = bisogno molesto di mangiare, carestia, grande miseria, grande desiderio (eng = starvation, hunger).
Here’s the text, it’s the same from the first year, if you have it says it all and still, you stupid journalists cant write a decent article!
In order to avoid rhetorical somersaults of the case, Studiocromie is pleased to announce FAME festival for what it is: the meeting of a dozen international artists in a small italian centre, Grottaglie.
The city is famous for its ancient ceramics tradition and there’s a whole area exclusively dealing with ceramics production.
FAME wants to be a new point of view on the original structure of this quarter and the city. While politicians and institutions only care about their personal interests, we’d like to give back to the town and its original asset the light they deserves.
The name of the event, FAME, refers to the ironic difference of meaning of the word itself between Italian and English. If in Italian FAME means hunger, in English is FAME, understood as honour and success status, things that Italy can only have exactly a great hunger.
The idea is to host the artists for variable length of time (from 1 to 4 weeks) and to offer them the cooperation of the local artisans for the production of pottery works and limited edition prints.
Furthermore the artists will have at their disposal several walls to paint around the city, in order to upgrade a few areas which are aesthetically depressed.
At the end of their stay, everything created, including new original artworks, screenprints and ceramic pieces made with the collaboration of local artisians will be showcased in a final group show. It will take place in one of the most ancient ceramics workshop of the area.
More importantly, it has to be said, the festival is entirely financed and curated by Studiocromie, wich is a one-man (+ his parents) screenprinting studio, without any kind of sponsorship from external sources.

Da www.artribune.com/2014/05/chiudere-allapice-della-notorie...:
Chiudere all’apice della notorietà.
E allora meglio stare zitti.

Citadel
Domination of the Visconti and Carrara
On October 20, 1388 begins the domination of the Visconti. It will be severe and the Veronese try to oppose it without success, each of their revolt is crushed in blood.
Gian Galeazzo Visconti only concerned to strengthen the fortifications of the city to make room for the rising power of Venice. He erected the Castel San Pietro and Castel San Felice (it) and built a citadel inside the city (a square fortress protected by a deep moat and walls). It is against this building that breaks the attempted rebellion in June 1390, after soldiers of Visconti, taken by surprise, there are entrenched. The arrival of reinforcements will signal three days of looting (June 25-27). In 1393, Gian Galeazzo Visconti ordered a revision of the Constitution and the opportunity to remove the communal militia.
Viscontienne the Lordship of Verona ends with the death of Gian Galeazzo in 1402 Francesco da Carrara is then believe the citizens of the city he will put his head Guglielmo della Scala (it), the son of Cangrande II. The latter receives support and may enter the city, which he proclaimed Lord by popular acclamation. But hours later, he was poisoned by Francesco da Carrara73. Soon after the son of Guglielmo were proclaimed lords of the city, the Carrara arrested and seized power, he will keep only a short time. Venice Veronese advantage of discontent and disorder to introduce, with the help of some of the people, an army in ville74 and put to flight the representatives of the House of Carrara.
Piazza Bra in Verona, Italy, which is internationally famous for the large-scale opera performances given there. It is one of the best preserved ancient structures of its kind.
Amphitheatre
The building itself was built in AD 30 on a site which was then beyond the city walls. The ludi (shows and games) staged there were so famous that spectators came from many other places, often far away, to witness them. The amphitheatre could host more than 30,000 spectators in ancient times.
The round façade of the building was originally composed of white and pink limestone from Valpolicella, but after a major earthquake in 1117, which almost completely destroyed the structure's outer ring, except for the so-called "ala", the stone was quarried for re-use in other buildings. Nevertheless it impressed medieval visitors to the city, one of whom considered it to have been a labyrinth, without ingress or egress. Ciriaco d'Ancona was filled with admiration for the way it had been built and Giovanni Antonio Panteo's civic panegyric De laudibus veronae, 1483, remarked that it struck the viewer as a construction that was more than human. Musical theatre
The first interventions to recover the arena's function as a theatre began during the Renaissance. Some operatic performances were later mounted in the building during the 1850s, owing to its outstanding acoustics.
And in 1913, operatic performances in the arena commenced in earnest due to the zeal and initiative of the Italian opera tenor Giovanni Zenatello and the impresario Ottone Rovato. The first 20th-century operatic production at the arena, a staging of Giuseppe Verdi's Aida, took place on 10 August of that year, to mark the birth of Verdi 100 years before in 1813. Musical luminaries such as Puccini and Mascagni were in attendance. Since then, summer seasons of opera have been mounted continually at the arena, except in 1915 Ã 18 and 1940 Ã 45, when Europe was convulsed in war.
Nowadays, at least four productions (sometimes up to six) are mounted each year between June and August. During the winter months, the local opera and ballet companies perform at the L'Accademia Filarmonica.
Modern-day travellers are advised that admission tickets to sit on the arena's stone steps are much cheaper to buy than tickets giving access to the padded chairs available on lower levels. Candles are distributed to the audience and lit after sunset around the arena.
Every year over 500,000 people see productions of the popular operas in this arena.Once capable of housing 20,000 patrons per performance (now limited to 15,000 because of safety reasons), the arena has featured many of world's most notable opera singers. In the post-World War II era, they have included Giuseppe Di Stefano, Maria Callas, Tito Gobbi and Renata Tebaldi among other names. A number of conductors have appeared there, too. The official arena shop has historical recordings made by some of them available for sale.
The opera productions in the Verona Arena had not used any microphones or loudspeakers until an electronic sound reinforcement system was installed in 2011.
In recent times, the arena has also hosted several concerts of international rock and pop bands, among which Laura Pausini, Pink Floyd, Alicia Keys, One Direction, Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Deep Purple, The Who, Dire Straits, Mike Oldfield, Rod Stewart, Sting, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Björk, Muse, Paul McCartney, Jamiroquai, and Whitney Houston.
In 1981, 1984 and 2010 it hosted the podium and presentation of the Giro d'Italia with thousands packing the arena to watch the prizes being handed out.

Piazza Bra , or simply the Bra (a name derived from a corruption of the term "Braida", which in turn derives from the Lombard breit , or "off"), is the largest square in Verona , located in its center historian .
The square of Piazza Bra began to turn into only the first half of the sixteenth century , when the architect Michele San Micheli concluded the palace of Honorij : this building was to delimit the western side of the square of the future, as well as to establish a correct outlook on the ' Arena . The first attempt to transform the clearing dirt road instead of walking, however, was the mayor Alvise Mocenigo, who wanted to create a meeting place for the rising bourgeoisie Verona: he was able to inaugurate the first part of the Liston , a paved sidewalk that lines connecting the Bra Corso Porta Nuova in Via Mazzini , in 1770. La Gran Guardia , begun by the Venetians in the seventeenth century and completed by the Austrians in the ' Nineteenth Century , went to delimit the southern side of the square, while in 1836 the architect Giuseppe Barbieri designed the eastern edge, where a hospital were demolished, some houses and a church, which was built in place of the Gran Guardia Nuova , better known as Palazzo Barbieri. This, initially used as a barracks by the Austrians, became, as a result of ' annexation of Veneto to the Kingdom of Italy , the seat of the municipality of the City of Verona.
History
Origins
In Roman times , the place where you would then open the Bra was outside the city and yet away from the main roads. It is only since the first century AD, when it was built the ' amphitheater in the Roman Empire, better known as the Arena of Verona , who came to define the northern edge of what centuries later would become one of the main squares of Verona. In 305 the Emperor Galerius , during a short stay in the city, he opened a door along the walls which was built in 265 by the Emperor Gallienus , which surrounded the Arena went thus creating a first connection between the city and the place where later would be born Bra.
The square, however, began to abbozzarsi only in the Middle Ages: the walls of the city was enlarged at that point between 1130 and 1153, going to close so that piece of land that later would become, coming to have the size of a square. Those areas between the walls and the Roman city walls were called braide, from the Lombard breit ; the braida that could match the current Bra in the twelfth century was far more extensive than at the edge of the square today.
A door that the Braida along the city walls is already mentioned in a document dated 1257, but later his place was taken by the gates of the Bra , probably due to the Visconti and to the Venetians : the first arch is dated to the late fourteenth century and the second to the second half of the fifteenth century. The clock that is located between the two arches of the gates of the Bra was a gift of Count Antonio Nogarola made ââin 1871: it was installed with the dials is visible from one side on the other walls. The clock was inaugurated on June 2, 1872 and refurbished in 1879 because of its vagueness.
Development
Piazza Bra after the arrangement of the central gardens
Piazza Bra in the mid-twentieth century.
The Bra began to be defined as a square only in the first decade of the seventeenth century, when they started on the south side of the factories Gran Guardia and the seat of the ' Accademia Filarmonica of Verona . In conjunction with the factory della Gran Guardia became the leveling the square as possible, and also create some gradients to regulate the flow of stormwater, operation up to that time never practiced because the space was used by stonemasons, that here, as well as work, abandoning the resulting material, and because the clearing was used for the discharge of material from construction in progress in the area.
For others, one hundred and fifty years the space was in clay, in fact, only in 1770 the foundations were laid of Liston will of the mayor Alvise Mocenigo. On March 13, 1782 Francis Menegatti presented a project to the final lastricamento of Liston that the City Council approved and, after this surgery, the bra became the favorite place for afternoon walks in place of Piazza dei Signori . Goethe , in his essay Journey to Italy , describes enjoyed the arrival carriage with ladies and gentlemen, and said that the sunset loitered along the rim of the amphitheater enjoying the most beautiful views of the city. I insole and down on the pavement off the Bra 'walked a multitude of people .
The square was smoothed more times: in 1808 he was entrusted with the task of remaking the Liston architect Luigi Trezza and in 1820 excavations were carried out along the Arena, in order to bring to light the basis of the same, as it was buried about two feet because of the sediments that were deposited after the numerous floods that had undergone the city. He also opted for a lowering of the average level of Bra about 70 centimeters along a line slightly inclined from the Gran Guardia At Arena, lowering the share of Liston.
Plan of Bra in a drawing by Giuseppe Barbieri
As for the lighting, until the eighteenth century the bra at night was totally immersed in the dark; only in the nineteenth century were installed lights in oil and gas lighting in 1845, so that the Liston also became a place for evening strolls. Then important for the conformation of the square today, is the accommodation in the central part of the garden Bra occurred in 1873: the central gardens were created with three circles forming a triangle with a central fountain.
Between 1884 and 1951 the square was affected by the rails of the tramway town .
Events
It is interesting to read the description of Liston of an astonished reporter of the magazine Esperia in an article of 1837:
" ... the audience is walking the plank of 'Veronesi, extended space, which is located in a few cities: here business people are dining and comforting conversation, idleness is recreated, and the beautiful flock there to get tributes of glances and sighs of their worshipers ... and many cafes offer brilliant and sufficient acceptance to the numerous meetings that there agree. Street musicians and improvisers, unpleasant indeed, but the liveliness of the inhabitants always well received, breaking the monotony of chatter; and the music of the military garrison increase much fun. Very pleasing to the eye is in the summer thousands of people of both sexes, and before sitting under the porch; and a more active crowd by constantly prowling the paths formed by the rows of seats, and now dispense with a bow, and now dwell near some nice, vibrate envious compliments and words of hope and voting ... while the beautiful turn cautious gaze looking at the confused teeming with ill-concealed impatience, greeting or stop most expensive among the happy meeting ... "
In the past, however, the Bra was used for uses other than those described well by this reporter: in particular, after the twelfth century it was included in the city walls it was used for the wood, hay, straw and cattle, so that in ancient documents is called the Bra cattle market. More often is cited as the parade ground, as was the case here the review of the troops from the beginning of the Venetian rule, which is why this was one of the points of conflict between the French and Venetian soldiers during the Veronese Easters in 1797 . Starting from 1633, after the approval of the Venetian Senate for the creation of an exhibition of goods in the city, there were held two annual fairs fifteen days each, which continued to be held until one of them was destroyed by fire October 28, 1712, and then restored in another place, it was established only in 1822, a new exhibition, which would last in Piazza Bra for twenty years.
Fair in very old custom is instead to Saint Lucia : it takes place every year from 11 to 13 December, but do not know its origins. Legend has it that, probably in the communal, an epidemic broke out in the city that struck my eyes, it was so that the Veronese decided to make a pilgrimage to the church of Saint Lucia (no longer exists): the children, who did not want to participate , were persuaded to return with the promise that they would find the shoes filled with gifts. The miracle occurred, and since then the fair is held to coincide with the feast of Saint Lucia.
The comet of Verona during a night snowfall
During the Christmas season takes place within the Arena arches dell ' Arena, the International Festival of the Nativity , an event born in 1984 from the mind of Alfredo Troisi , along with the comet symbol of the event, from the reservoir from the Arena, go to dive in Bra. Over the years the star has taken on meanings and values ââare independent of the review of the nativity, as to be appreciated by itself. This architecture-sculpture was designed by architect and designer Rinaldo Olivieri : his intuition came to looking at a map of the city, characterized by two large voids, one of the auditorium and that of the square in front of the Arena. It was from this impression that he was born an ideal line, a huge arch that connects the Arena with the urban space, an arc of light and steel from the Temple of the music goes to fall and explode among citizens.
The birds were having a good morning--about 15 feet from the snowy egret this tri-colored heron was having similar success with the bait fish on Horsepen Bayou.

From MacLaren Automotive, England:
Bruce McLaren was passionate about both racing and road cars. Not only was Bruce a great driver, but also a highly skilled engineer and designer.
With great determination and ambition he founded his own race team, Bruce McLaren Motor Racing, in 1963. Following success on the race track in both Formula 1 and Can-Am Bruce turned his attention to building a road car.
Bruce wanted McLaren to enter Le Mans in the late 1960’s. The plan was to take an M6 Can-Am car and develop a coupe body that would be competitive in long distance racing. To meet regulations at the time a minimum of fifty cars had to be completed. However homologation problems lead to the project being scrapped.
Having always harboured an ambition to build his own road car Bruce wanted to turn the project into the ultimate road car. He wanted to build the fastest and quickest accelerating car in the world that translated their expertise on the race track, to create the definitive road going sports car.
So in early 1970 Bruce organised for a GT to be built so he could use it on the road in an effort to find out what problems would have to be overcome.
Together with chief designer Gordon Coppuck, Bruce planned to refine the prototype, eventually aiming to produce up to 250 cars per year.
In fact only two M6GTs were ever built, Bruce’s original prototype and a second built by Trojan. The original prototype, OBH 500H, became Bruce's personal transportation, and remained so until his untimely death at Goodwood on June 2, 1970 when the road car project died with him.
The M6GT stands as testament to his passion and vision to enter the world of super sports cars.

The history of this vision and the M6GT is told here by the people closest to the project at the time - Gordon Coppuck and Eoin Young.
GORDON COPPUCK
Gordon was Chief Designer in the late 1960’s
“Our original intention was to race the M6 GT at Le Mans, but when the idea fell on deaf ears because of homologation problems, we started to think about a road car.”
McLaren and Coppuck went to Detroit for a meeting with General Motors styling chief Bill Mitchell, who arranged for Bruce to drive all their exotic road cars on the GM test track.
“Bruce came away convinced that there was nothing special about any of them. He thought we could do better ourselves.
Back in Colnbrook we had a model of a GT body in the workshop and Bruce and I rubbed clay on it until we came up with a shape we were happy with. We put a ZF gearbox in it and completed the car that winter of 1969/70.
I borrowed the car one weekend and I took it for a Sunday morning drive to Bournemouth with my wife. It ran beautifully. It really was ridiculously fast for a road car at that time. It weighed the same as a Mini and had 10 times the power!
The acceleration was spectacular and the shape drew crowds everywhere. It wasn’t the easiest car to get in and out of and I remember it was the end of the miniskirt era and my wife was particularly shy of the onlookers around the car when we came out after lunch.”
EOIN YOUNG
Began working for Bruce McLaren in the early 1960’s and became one of the first directors of Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Limited when the company was formed in 1963.
This quote is from Young’s book “McLaren, The Man, the Cars & the Team” which was first published in 1971:
“Bruce’s favourite project was the road-going version of the M6 GT which failed to get homologated as a Group 5 GT car – of which 50 were required to be built – even though a batch of 50 neat-looking bodies had been made to fit the basic M6 monocoque Can-Am chassis.
Building his own road car was a project that had interested Bruce as an ambition to be achieved when the company was well under way with the racing program.
It was a five-year-old, off and on project, but early in 1970 he organized the building of one of the GTs for use on the road in an effort to find out what problems would have to be overcome in a proper mid-engined road car. The result was, literally, a semi-civilized Can-Am car that was anything but easy to climb into but was bliss to drive once you were installed.
Even with a standard five litre Chevrolet V8 in the back it would accelerate to 100mph in around eight seconds, and of course the handling was fantastic.
One problem was that the car was so low that other traffic often had difficulty in seeing it coming up behind. Bruce loved the GT, but he wasn’t blind to its shortcomings.
Gordon Coppuck and Bruce had long discussions about the GT and about the problems they had discovered running the car on the road.
The radiator outlet duct in the nose, for instance, while proving to be an ideal windshield defroster on cold mornings, generated a lot of noise and they had decided to delete the duct on the next version of the McLaren road car.
Entry and exit across the broad side tanks was another feature that was scheduled for a tidy-up.
Another problem was that it had odd sized wheels, with small ones in front and big ones at the back. It handled beautifully, but it meant that we would have to find out which were the best rim sizes so that we only needed to carry one spare wheel. At that time there wasn’t room for a spare anyway, and that was another problem.
I was really surprised with how comfortable the car was when I borrowed it for a weekend. Quite incredible when you considered that it was basically a racing car.”
It is commonly accepted that three period-built McLaren M6 GTs exist. The first original prototype built by McLaren and two further GTs built by the Trojan Group which had been franchised by McLaren to build all of the customer racing cars since the mid 1960's.
M6/GT-01
Bruce McLaren's own car built in the McLaren Motor Racing shops and UK road registered as OBH 500H. Following Bruce's death it was purchased by Phil Kerr and Denny Hulme and displayed at the Auckland Transport Museum. The car was sold to a collector in the USA and now resides in the Harry Matthews collection.
M6B/GT 50-17
Built by Trojan and sold to David Prophet who raced it twice in 1969 European races as a GT. The car was sold to a private collector in Canada in 1972 where it remained until it was auctioned by RM Auctions in January 2006.
M12 GT (chassis number unknown)
Built by Trojan and tested by Road & Track magazine as an "M6 GT" in 1974. The car was auctioned in 1972 at the Kirk White, Philadelphia auction but did not sell. The car was eventually sold to Ted Petersen in California who converted it to a road car. Its present whereabouts are not known.
Other replicas M6 GTs are in existence, many using original Can-Am mechanicals and wearing a Trojan body.

The Labor Day Festival was a huge success on Saturday as thousands of people from Warrior Country enjoyed an American-style festival with a touch of Korean heritage on the main streets of Camp Casey.
Labor Day, a national holiday set for the first Monday in September recognizes the hard work and achievements of American workers and for their contributions to the economic growth and prosperity of our nation and to formally celebrate the end-of-summer.
The Area I festivities kicked off as 86 participants competed in a 5 kilometer race at 8 a.m. at Camp Red Cloud. Medals were awarded to the top two finishers in each of the four categories… overall men's and women's event and categories for overall senior men's and women's.
The Casey streets filled with people of all ages were eager to get the festivities started at 3 p.m.
Carnival rides like the merry-go-round, donkey rides, paddle boats, "Viking" rides and the bungee-cord trampoline brought loud shrieks of delight from the younger children who were brave enough to ride them.
The streets were lined with vendors selling carnival style foods like funnel cakes, cotton candy, barbecue, hamburgers, hotdogs and ice-cream. There were plenty of water, sodas, and ice-cold lemonade that could be purchased to quench one's thirst throughout the day.
Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers made their presence felt by challenging contestants to participate in either a fear factor style eating contest or the traditional pie-eating contest.
The fear factor competition had 20 participants with stomachs made of steel as they slimed their way separating the gummy worms out of a pie-pan filled with a concoction of ingredients that would make any normal person's stomach churn.
"The tastes in the first two-rounds weren't too bad," said Cpl. Vincent Stringer, Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment. "But the last round, what we ate was terrible and too chunky; sometimes I had to just swallow it without chewing."
Col. John M. Scott, U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I commander, awarded Stringer with an I-Pad mini for his valiant effort. Second and third place finishers received a goody bag filled with a BOSS polo shirt, t-shirt and other memorabilia.
The pie-eating contestants raced to see who could eat the chocolate and whip-cream pie the fastest as bystanders cheered them on. The first place, second place and third place winners received $150, $100 and $50 Army and Air Force Exchange Service gift cards respectively.
2nd Infantry Division's rock band took to the main stage and provided up-beat songs that had the audiences dancing in their seats.
There were plenty performances scheduled throughout the day for people to observe. The Korean-style drummers and a balancing act on a tight-rope attracted 100s of people around the softball field as they played and displayed their talents.
The Military Police showed off their police dog's obedience and agility by showcasing the different types of attacks used by the MPs.
As the sun went down, folks gathered around the main stage to watch, listen and dance to the live entertainment that included fusion band, mariachi, and a female rock-band, Mad Fret.
According to Scott, the Labor Day Festival is Area I's biggest annual recreational event and this year's event is comparable to county fairs held in big cities.
"Everyone who helped put this [festival] together did a wonderful job," congratulated Scott. "No matter how old you are three or 30 or even older, I think everyone had fun."

This is a photograph from the first running of the Trim AC Bewley's 10 Mile Road Race which was held on Sunday 1st February 2015 at 12:00 in Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland. This race also incorporated the 2015 Meath 10 Mile Road Championships. For the first staging of this event this was an incredible success with almost 800 runners, joggers and walkers talking to the start line. The weather was perfect for running despite the bitter cold temperatures with air temperature of 4C recorded at the start. Some beautiful Spring sunshine helped brighten the day and the roads were clear and dry for racing.
Want to use this photograph or share it? Please read/scroll down a little further to find out how - it's very easy!
The race started on the Trim Athboy Road (the R154) and headed towards the town before making a left turn onto the Trim Dunderry road. The one mile mark comes just after a Y-junction which the race joins back to before the final 600 meters to the finish. Heading north to Dunderry the route takes a left in the middle of the village and heads west for 2 miles on the Dunderry Athboy road. At the next major junction the race takes another left turning south towards Trim town again. One of the only significant hills/drags of the course happens at around the 6.5 mile marker. Miles 7 - 9 are ran on winding roads with nice hedgerows and shelter from any breeze. During these miles you will begin to see the spire of Trim church in the distance. At the Y-Junction from mile one you have 600 meters to go with a final right turn into the industrial estate and the finish line.
The success of today's race is not an accident. Trim AC, and their army of volunteers and help from other Meath athletic clubs, put in huge work to make this race a success.
Today's race adds significantly to Trim AC's reputation for top quality organisation of race events. The 10 mile road race today follows on from the Braveheart 5KM Trail Race which is held annually in June around the beautiful and historical fields of Porchfields and Trim Castle. Today's race could be the begining of one of the region's largest and most popular 10 mile road races.

USING OUR PHOTOGRAPHS - A QUICK GUIDE
Can I use these photographs directly from Flickr on my social media account(s)?
Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. You can share to: email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us.
This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download the photographic image here direct to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. However - look for a symbol with three dots 'ooo' or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.
Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.
In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. You will find the link above clearly outlined in the description text which accompanies this photograph. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting does take a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.
I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?
Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

This is a photograph from the Longwood GAA 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs 2014 which were held in Longwood Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 19th October 2014 at 11:00. This is the fifth year which Longwood GAA have hosted race events. This year's event was an outstanding success with the number of participants doubling over last year's final numbers. There were almost 400 participants in both events with 224 in the 10KM and 166 in the 5KM. In the first three previous years the club had organised a 5KM road race. The events were organised as fundraisers for both the adult and juvenille teams at Longwood GAA club. The event also provided a fundraising opportunity for the local St. Vincent de Paul charity. Overall the whole day was a great success with the hard work put in by the organising committee ensuring that participants enjoyed their race experience. Both routes were accurately measured, kilometer points clearly marked, junctions well stewarded, and electronic timing provided. The event provided many local runners, joggers, fun runners and walkers with a local event to support whilst at the same time providing runners preparing for events such as the Dublin marathon with an opportunity to race a short, fast, distance in the lead up to marathon day. The GAA club provided excellent stewarding and traffic management all around the course. The race had a professional feel to it and it is sure to grow next year given the very positive feedback from many of the participants today.
This is a photograph which is part of a larger set of photographs taken at the event. There were photographs taken at the start of the races and the finishes of both races in Longwood GAA. The full set is available at this link www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157648845224981/
Longwood is a small village in South East Co. Meath and is close to the town of Enfield with access to the M4 Motorway.
Timing and event management was provided by Precision Timing. Overall Race Summary
Participants: There were about 400 participants over the two events.
Weather: The weather was very breezy but dry. The temperatures around 10C.
5KM Course: The 5KM started in Longwood village. Runners then took a left turn in the Village down St. Oliver's Road. This straight section of road brings runners to a left turn onto a very well maintained boreen road for less than one kilometer. The race then emerges and joins with the 10KM at Stoneyford where the runners take a left and then another left before arriving back at the finish line in Longwood GAA club. Overall this is a very fast and flat 5KM with no hills to speak of.
10KM Course: The 10KM event begins in Longwood Village outside Stoney's Pub (goo.gl/maps/Of4fW) and proceeds westward out of the village. There are some interesting points along this part of the course. At the 2KM point the runners will run under the double bridges - an aquaduct for the Royal Canal and a bridge carrying the Dublin Sligo Railway line. The race then enters county Kildare just before the 3km and after taking a right turn at the four-cross roads known locally as Lally's Cross it returns to County Meath on top of the River Boyne Bridge (Ashfield Bridge) which forms the county boundary. The race follows a straight road for the next 2KM until runners encounter Blackshade bridge which is the toughest climb on the route. As a point of interest Blackshade bridge brings runners back over the Royal Canal and the Railway line. The race then crosses the River Boyne again at Stoneyford before taking a right which will bring runners on a testing two kilometer stretch with some short hills. The 10KM course then joins with the 5Km course for the final 1.5KM back to Longwood GAA club for the finish.

This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

I started this process at about 10:30 AM, it was now about 5:30.
Time to roll this unit back into the server room and hook it up, so the backups can run tonight.
