The Pet Expo this past weekend was a huge success, and a lot of fun. It was very tiring, though. I stood on my feet and 'talked dogs' non-stop for three days in a row. But we got a lot of nice leads for our classes so it was well worth it. We were next to the dock diving dogs so it got pretty noisy at times. They had every kind of doggy product, and doggie service, that you could think of represented there, including try-outs for David Letterman's Stupid Pet Tricks. Callie was a really big hit. She was the main attraction at our booth and she got petted almost non-stop by small kids, adults, and people in wheel chairs. She was the perfect 'demo dog' and I was very proud of her. And not just for her 'meet and greet' skills, but the way she walked confidently on the city streets (She's a country dog, you know.) and didn't spook on the parking garage elevator. She was a real trooper and, as I said... I was very proud of her! : )
Saturday morning as I was starting to get ready to leave for the Expo, I looked out the window and saw a deer in the neighbor's yard. I didn't have a lot of time, but you know I
just HAD to stop and get a pic or two. And the light was absolutely perfect that morning,
so while I was out there, I also took some shots of the blossoms that finally bloomed on some of our trees and I will post some of them this week.

Organised by my good friend Lee Hunter, this was Teesside's own premier costume, comics and sci fi event. What better way to spend a Saturday than making over 1000 people smile. Thanks to our star guest, the gorgeous Femi Taylor (Oola in Return of the Jedi), everyone who attended and who took part for helping to make the event such a great success - you were all TU4-some!
day 274 - My honey got his antelope this morning! He did great! We had a wonderful three days of hunting, an amazing adventure. I wouldn't trade a minute of it for the world.

This quiet scene belies the elation I felt at reaching the mesa. My happiness-induced shock made me forget to photograph myself here. However, in a rare moment of hysteria, I let out a loud "yee-HAH!" I also celebrated by removing the pack that had weighted me down for the previous 75 minutes.
The cairn proved that others had preceded me, which, given the simplicity of the ascent, was not surprising. The shape and pebbly surface of this high point of the mesa suggested to me that this terrain was an ancient gravel bar far removed from the flowing river. Nature blows my mind.
At the bottom of the canyon, the Colorado River flows from right to left.
