Detailed macro photograph of cutting a millimetre small mustard seed with a small sharp scalpel blade.
“cut the mustard” This expression meaning “to succeed; to come up to expectations; reach the required standard”
Trying new things with this photo and I think it succeeded with my expectations. Nothing is perfect since there is always room to improvise. No matter how long you've been doing something, you always learn something new ;)

Something was out of control.
Don't rejoice for future views, I intervened it.
One last/or latest post.
All the best.
Not many things can succeed in defying gravity for very long. For some of us who are bad at it. There is a place to go when physics wins.
The last one... but not the least.
Thanks to all of you for your support during this fun challenge.
It was sometimes difficult to have original ideas (thanks to my love...), but I succeeded, and I am happy for that.
See you later for other beautiful pictures and why not other challenges...
My 52 project - Week 52/52.
"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.
You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. -- I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. -- Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not."
- Written by John Adams in a letter to his wife Abigail on July 3rd, 1776, after the Continental Congress had voted on the 2nd of July to adopt the Declaration of Independence. Mr. Adams believed that future Americans would celebrate their independence in this way on the 2nd of July every year.
Early wishes for a happy Independence Day to all my American friends.

Jean Calas, a Protestant merchant from Toulouse, was condemned by the Toulouse parliament to the ordeal of the wheel and executed on 10 March 1762 on the accusation, without proof, of having murdered one of his sons, who had reputedly converted to Catholicism. Protestants intervened in vain to defend Calas, but Voltaire succeeded in having his sentence quashed and his memory rehabilitated.
This week the girls were put into a big room full of plastic, having to try sell the outfit and yet not get lost in the background.
Who succeeded? And who will be sent to recycling?
Leave a comment for each with a rate out of 1-10, 1 being terrible and 10, amazing!
Miah was surprised with a makeover as the judges were not happy with what she had, she received a long bob with a pink dip-dye.

The first instalment from my recent trip to Venice.
When I visited Venice last year before hosting a workshop with Rohan, the weather gods were not my friend. This has probably been mentioned on more than once in my previous posts (of probably all my images to be fair) so it gave me the opportunity to scout around looking for subjects to shoot and I found this spot on Giudecca.
When Rohan arrived, he seemed to bring the aforementioned weather gods with him for the duration of the workshop and then when I got the opportunity to shoot again for myself, they fled (I think the moral of the story is... go with Rohan ;-)
Suffice to say, I didn't come away with the shot I was looking for despite visiting this location probably 5 times alone last year and thankfully only once this year.
However, my plans for this year for Venice were different. The plan was to go back and shoot Venice itself rather than a continuation of my minimal work, but my intentions were short lived as the visibility was shocking, therefore, I re-visited some already covered ground to see if I could succeed where I'd failed before.
To turn a negative in to a positive, when I arrived here the conditions were exactly what I had been wanting from this location the year before. The tide was perfect, the light was good and there was just enough fog to provide good clarity, but mask the land in the distance.
Just to make sure I didn't walk away from this location for the 6th time empty handed, I shot this at: 24mm, 35mm, 45mm and 70mm... as I knew from my previous encounters it was a difficult one to compose because of some foreground that had no place in the image.
This image is the 35mm version, which is a 3 shot stitched image taken as portrait images on my 17-40mm. Normally I provide the EXIF data at the bottom of my posts, but although I know this was 77s with the LEE Big Stopper, that's about as far as it goes, I was working fast and was changing grads left, right and centre.
As for the title, these posts actually mark where the telephone lines go, but they remind me of, "matchstick men" and seeing as there is a, "little family" of them I thought, "Kin" was quite suitable.
A six frame composite of the Rijksmuseum library. I wish I had my 11-24mm lens which would surely have yielded an awesome shot, but hey, you get what you can get with what you got. I tried to position myself dead center in this space (and what an awesome space it is!) but did not quite succeed (those who care will surely confirm that I failed). Some pushing and pulling in PS to get things lined up make this a passable perspective shot, but as you can see I didn't quite succeed (the railing in the foreground was impossible to straighten no matter what I tried, including generative AI).

I'd love to hear what you think.
Have you ever tried to take a photo of an individual piece of popping corn as it popped in the pan with hundreds of others at the same time? The only thing harder that I can think of is trying to take a photo of a Swallow while flipping through the air with hundreds of others, you don't have time to focus on any of them, unless you're a lot faster than this old soon to be 80 year old photographer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it's merely an observation. I love these little guy's, and I'm still practicing on getting a photo of Swallows in flight. If I find any and succeed in getting a worth wild photo I'll be posting it right here. :^D
----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

What's a bird without its nest? Or a fish with no river? I find my house to be of inspiration to me. It's definitely full of odds and ends that span a full century--of belongings from distant ancestors to what my parents have collected growing up, these little nests being one of the random things aha! I was talking to my mom earlier about our house. My house is over 100 years old. It’s grand, a little scary at night, but definitely exciting for a creative mind. My whole life I feel as though my mom was ridiculed for not having the house perfectly organized. You see, my mom collects antiques—yeah, I guess she’s a hoarder. She is in no way the kind you see on TV (that’s just crazy) but I’ve seen her get so much shit for what she buys and how it’s not being used for anything. She’s got very eclectic taste, but I’m sad to say that sometimes I’m the only one who sees that in her. Everyone else just feels that she’s all over the place with ideas and projects that she never completes, but really, everyone in my family is artistic in their own way. I probably recognize this in her because I’m exactly the same. There’s a ton of thoughts and projects that go through my head everyday! ...but then I just find myself not actually pursuing them sometimes...
My point being--it's a funny thing what everyones "nest" means to them. For my mom, she spent her whole life stepping aside to help others and has never once allowed herself to live her own life to do what she wanted—to show her artistic ability. When she would, there was always that one negative voice that would stop her. She recalled a voice that was said in her head over a year ago saying, “when are you going to start living your life?” I believe that’s God, you can believe otherwise. To hear that was so very important in my eyes...I just wish my mom would get her mind out of the past and start doing what she loves.
So imagine: You live your whole life dedicating everything to your husband and family, but never stop to say “hey, what about what I want to do?” It’s in no way an issue for you, but then you find yourself middle aged, looking back and thinking…when am I ever going to just stop and take action for the things that I believe in, for myself, not for others. Perhaps stop thinking about how your life didn't turn out and how you can change it around and enjoy yourself, stress free for a change, knowing that every little thing that hasn't exactly gone right for you isn't suppose to stop you from succeeding. At least I can say that I've really learned a lot from where I've grown up.

The hilltop on Bear Paw Battlefield in northern Montana where Chief Looking Glass was killed at the conclusion of the Nez Perce War of 1877.
The tribe's grueling 1,200-mile running fight through Idaho, Wyoming and Montana ended on these hills, only 40 miles from their goal: political sanctuary across the Canadian border and safety from the U.S. Armies that had been battling them for four months.
The tribe was led by a shifting coalition of five chiefs. Chief Joseph is the best-known leader, but he was largely a politician, while Looking Glass was the senior warrior chief.
Looking Glass had done everything he could to avoid becoming embroiled in the war. “I fight when I cannot avoid it, but not otherwise”. At the war’s start, Looking Glass had been appalled by the massacre of about 20 settlers by a handful of young warriors, who were outraged by the broken treaties and the unpunished murder of their father by a settler.
But General O.O. Howard, influenced by false rumors that Looking Glass was about to join the conflict, ordered the chief and his band arrested. An undisciplined volunteer civilian fired a shot, and the soldiers attacked and destroyed Looking Glass' village, which had been flying a white flag. The chief felt he had no choice but to join the fighting bands.
Looking Glass convinced the other bands to flee from Idaho to join his friends the Crows in Montana, believing that the Nez Perce would be leaving their troubles behind them in Idaho.
Travelling through western Montana, Looking Glass ordered warriors to not harm or steal from Whites. When a few rogue warriors ransacked a ranch, an enraged Looking Glass forced the warriors to give their horses to the rancher as compensation.
Looking Glass temporarily lost his influence after the bands were surprised and attacked at the Big Hole Battle in western Montana by a second U.S. army that had been, unknown to the Nez Perce, pursuing the caravan. During the battle, Looking Glass yelled at the young warriors who had massacred settlers at the beginning of the war, “This is battle! These men are not asleep as were those you murdered in Idaho! Now is the time to show your courage and fight!”
At Big Hole, many of the best Nez Perce warriors were killed and many women, children and elders were slaughtered by soldiers. Almost every Nez Perce family lost a relative in the battle and the caravan’s escape route was lined with graves.
At the Battle of Canyon Creek in central Montana, the Nez Perce defeated yet another pursuing army, but the Nez Perce were shocked to see Crow warriors fighting alongside the U.S. soldiers, so the caravan trudged north to seek sanctuary in Canada with Sitting Bull and The Sioux.
As the Nez Perce made haste through northern Montana and neared Canada, so close finally to freedom, Looking Glass balked at the grueling routine of the marches endured by the remaining women, children and elders. He took back command and set a more leisurely pace, unaware that yet another army, this one under the talented and ambitious Colonel Nelson Miles, was force marching 300 miles to intercept them.
Miles surprised the Nez Perce in these hills with a fierce cavalry charge, which the tribes repulsed. The 520 Soldiers succeeded in surrounding the 200 warriors who fought from rifle pits on these hilltops while 500 women, children and elders suffered in the wintery October weather in a ravine about 100 yards to the right of this photo, where they also endured artillery shelling.
At the beginning of the following five day siege, Looking Glass had sent a messenger through the siege lines to Sitting Bull across the Canadian border asking him for help breaking the siege and to lead the Nez Perce to Sitting Bull's camp in Canada. While Looking Glass fought prone in a rifle pit on this hill, a warrior shouted that a rider approached from the North. Looking Glass, thinking the rider was a messenger from Sitting Bull, stood up to look and was instantly killed by a sniper bullet to the head.
No help arrived and after five days the Nez Perce surrendered to Miles.
This composite is made with the only known photo of Chief Looking Glass.

Another from the first of two fabulous days of chasing trains along this beautiful railroad.
Instead of running all the way to Fabyans as in prior fall seasons, this year the Conway Scenic is running two daily round trips between North Conway and Crawfords with the addition of a third 'bus train' for passengers arriving by motor coach from Portland off a cruise ship as a day shore excursion. That means there are now six trains running through the Notch every day with a scheduled meet at Bartlett and Sawyers River. It is truly an astonishing and joyful site to witness on this hallowed line once given up for dead.
The 1:30 PM Mountainaineer is headed west at MP 72.9 on the former Mountain Sub. They are paralleling the Saco River between the 2nd and 3rd Iron bridges past a location known as Sawyer’s Rock. Ahead at Sawyers River siding they will meet the eastbound 1130 AM 'bus train' headed by GP35 216 and then dig into the 2.2% climb to the 1900 ft crest of the line at Crawford Depot at MP 85.
A New Hampshire state historical marker along US 302 denotes this spot and reads:
In 1771, Timothy Lash of Lancaster and Benjamin Sawyer of Conway made a bargain with Governor John Wentworth to bring a horse through Crawford Notch in order to prove the route’s commercial value. The pair succeeded by dragging and lowering the animal down rock faces. Sawyer’s Rock is said to be the last obstacle they encountered before reaching the Bartlett intervales. Nash and Sawyer were rewarded with a 2,184 acre parcel at the northern end of the Notch. Sawyer’s Rock symbolizes the determination and foresight that helped open and develop trade and travel into the White Mountains region.
Leading the train are GP38s 252 and 255 which are right at home on these rails having been built in November 1966 for the Maine Central Railroad as part of an order of 13 of the model which were the first batch of second generation diesel locomotives purchased by the road. They both regularly operated here for the first 17 years of their lives until the last thru freight ran in 1983 after Guilford purchased the MEC and shuttered the Mountain Sub. In fact 252 had the ignominious duty of leading the final YR-1 from Saint Johnsbury on September 2, 1983.
255 came to Conway Scenic in 2022 and wore her Vermont Rail System red paint until just this past June when she received this new 'old' dress. The VTR red was from her nearly two decade second career as Clarendon & Pittsford 203 after having being sold by MEC successor Guilford Transportation in the early 1990s. 252 meanwhile was the last of her class in service on Guilford, lasting more than three decades, and having seen her other dozen siblings retired and scrapped or sold. She came to Conway Scenic in March 2010 along with GP35 216 in a trade with Pan Am Railways for FP9s 6505 and 6516 that would become Pan Am's OCS power.

The first phase of the ambush had succeeded - Albornian forces were forced to retreat from the swamps down the forest path and attempted to find a way around the muddy obstacle. Their attempt, however, was futile. No sooner had they emerged from the swamp then they were met by another force of our soldiers, pushing them back to the border.
The element of surprise and our knowledge of the terrain really made a large difference - if not for those two factors, I'm sure our casualties would have been much larger.
I was stationed with the other archers, who were to stand at a distance from the thick of the battle and pick off Albornian soldiers. I would have much rather been stationed as a Caeliadon rider, but I suppose with little to none experience on riding the winged animals was, I was not the best candidate for that position. Dalayor was to be paired with a rather hostile elf under the name of Kiirion Fensys - I couldn't help but think that he would have been safer in the hands of someone who didn't scare young cadets for fun.
Once the battle had begun, I became aware of just how important archers could be in a battle. Whenever I spotted someone in immediate danger I would single out his attacker and do my best to help him out.
After about 15 minutes of the battle I heard someone call;
"Cowards!"
I turned to see an Albornian soldier who had snuck behind our lines. I raised my bow to shoot him, but as I did he whipped out his sword and challenged me to a duel.
I accepted and brandished my dirk. The soldier was not very skilled and I soon dispatched of him. Once I had finished dueling him I noticed my garrison had moved on. With any luck, we'll have pushed Alborne back to the border by now.

As well he should: in a few short weeks, he nearly succeeded in bringing the Empire back from the depths Commodus had plunged it.
He was unlucky though, and maybe a little too intransigent when negotiating with some of his Pretorian guards. Upon hearing they would have to wait a bit for their promised and traditional donative, they unceremoniously stabbed him to death and put the Purple for auction.

Fort Myers or Ft. Myers, is the county seat and commercial center of Lee County, Florida, United States. It has grown rapidly in recent years. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 62,298 and in 2017 was estimated at 79,943.
Fort Myers is a gateway to the Southwest Florida region and a major tourist destination within Florida. The winter estates of Thomas Edison ("Seminole Lodge") and Henry Ford ("The Mangoes") are major attractions. The city is named after Colonel Abraham Myers.
Spain originally had colonial influence in Florida, succeeded by Great Britain and, lastly, the United States. During the American Indian Wars of the 1830s, the United States built Fort Myers as one of the first forts along the Caloosahatchee River; it was used as a base of operations against the Seminole. During the Seminole Wars and Indian Removal period, Fort Myers was a strategic location, with access to Atlantic waterways. While many Seminole were forced to remove to Indian Territory west of the Mississippi River, others used their knowledge of the Everglades and Florida wilderness to resist the Americans. They were never defeated and two federally recognized Seminole tribes still control some of their historic territory.
During the American Civil War, Confederate blockade runners and cattle ranchers were based in Fort Myers. These settlers prospered through trading with the Seminole and Union soldiers.
The Fort Myers community was founded after the American Civil War by Captain Manuel A. Gonzalez on February 21, 1866. Captain Gonzalez was familiar with the area as a result of his years of service delivering mail and supplies to the Union Army at the Fort during the Seminole Indian Wars and Civil War.[ When the U.S. Government abandoned the fort following the Civil War, Gonzalez sailed from Key West, Florida to found the community. Three weeks later, Joseph Vivas and his wife, Christianna Stirrup Vivas, arrived with Gonzalez's wife, Evalina, and daughter Mary.
Gonzalez settled his family near the abandoned Fort Myers, where he began the area's first trading post. Gonzalez traded tobacco, beads, and gunpowder, and sold otter, bobcat, and gator hide, to the neighboring Seminole. A small community began to form around the trading post.
In the late 19th century, northerners began to travel to Florida in the winter. Some saw development opportunities. In 1881, the wealthy industrialist Hamilton Disston of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania came to the Caloosahatchee Valley. He planned to dredge and drain the Everglades for development. Diston connected Lake Okeechobee with the Caloosahatchee River; this allowed steamboats to run from the Gulf of Mexico to Lake Okeechobee and up the Kissimmee River.
On August 12, 1885, the small town of Fort Myers—all 349 residents—was incorporated. By that time, it was the second-largest town on Florida's Gulf Coast south of Cedar Key.
In 1885, inventor Thomas Alva Edison was cruising Florida's west coast and stopped to visit Fort Myers. He soon bought 13 acres along the Caloosahatchee River in town. There he built his home "Seminole Lodge", as a winter retreat. It included a laboratory for his continuing work. After the Lodge was completed in 1886, Edison and his wife, Mina, spent many winters in Fort Myers. Edison also enjoyed local recreational fishing, for which Fort Myers had gained a national reputation.
In 1898, the Royal Palm Hotel was constructed. This luxury hotel attracted many tourists and established Fort Myers nationally as a winter resort destination.

There are a lot of grim cults in this world. People from old families for whom it is not enough to have wealth and power among ordinary people. They wants something bigger. Something more special.
They study forbidden knowledge from ancient books and perform godless rituals in their demonic chapels.

The Palazzo Venezia or Palazzo Barbo, formerly Palace of St. Mark, is a palazzo (palace) in central Rome, Italy, just north of the Capitoline Hill. The original structure of this great architectural complex consisted of a modest medieval house intended as the residence of the cardinals appointed to the church of San Marco. In 1469 it became a residential papal palace, having undergone a massive extension, and in 1564, Pope Pius IV, to win the sympathies of the Republic of Venice, gave the mansion to the Venetian embassy to Rome on the terms that part of the building would be kept as a residence for the cardinals, the Apartment Cibo, and that the republic would provide for the building's maintenance and future restoration. The palace faces Piazza Venezia and Via del Plebiscito. It currently houses the National Museum of the Palazzo Venezia.
It took on a new layout in 1451, when owned by Cardinal Pietro Barbo, nephew of Pope Eugenius IV and the future Pope Paul II. It was a fortified building, composed of a half-basement and a mezzanine that functioned as a piano nobile, extending over a small area between the basilica and the gate of the present palazzo overlooking the piazza, with a small external tower. It was a building of no exceptional size but was sufficiently dignified as a cardinal's residence so that, even in 1455, Pietro Barbo could proudly boast of it, having a commemorative medal struck in its honor. In 1455, the building manifested some of the first Renaissance architectural features in Rome; although the overall aspect is of a massive, defensible medieval structure with battlemented crown.
It was built around the medieval tower at the right of its facade and incorporated within its mass the ancient basilica church of San Marco founded by Pope Marcus in 336 and dedicated to the Evangelist who would become protector of Venice, completely rebuilt in 833, and which underwent frequent reconstructions since then.
Much of the stone to build the palazzo was quarried from the nearby Colosseum, a common practice in Rome until the 18th century. The design is traditionally attributed to Leone Battista Alberti;[1] the Venetian cardinal, Pietro Barbo, who later became Pope Paul II, was the patron: he continued to inhabit it even as pope.
The project was continued after his death by his nephew Marco Barbo, patriarch of Aquileia. The green courtyard had only been enclosed by a colonnade surmounted by a loggia for less than a quarter of its full ranges before work was interrupted; the fully Renaissance design was by Giuliano da Maiano.
The building became a papal residence, and in 1564 Pope Pius IV gave use of much of the building to the Republic of Venice for its embassy and for the titular cardinal of S. Marco, by tradition always a Venetian.
From the Treaty of Campoformio (1797) throughout the nineteenth century, as Austria succeeded the defunct Republic, the building was the seat for the Austrian ambassador to the Vatican. In 1916, Italy, at war with Austria-Hungary, seized the building. It was subsequently restored.
During the fascist period, Mussolini used the palace as his seat of government and private residence. From the balcony of the palace he addressed the crowd on many occasions, for example after the Ethiopian conquest or on Italy's entry into the Second World War. He undertook large-scale works to renovate the top floor into private apartments, setting up housekeeping for his wife Rachele Mussolini, his children and his mistress Clara Petacci.
On the advice of Achille Starace, Mussolini as a rule left the lights on in his office over night in order to cultivate an image of a workaholic totally dedicated to official business—"a man who never sleeps" as repeated by the propaganda.
It was at the Palazzo Venezia, in the Stanza del Pappagallo (Hall of the Parrot) where the fascist regime came to an end: a palace coup setting forth Count Grandi's Order of the Day demanding Mussolini's powers be taken away by the king. The vote by the Grand Council of Fascism left Mussolini in the minority, which enabled the king to dismiss and arrest him.
The Museo nazionale del Palazzo di Venezia, housed in the building, contains galleries of art, predominantly pottery, tapestry, statuary from the early Christian era up to early Renaissance.
In 1910, due to the erection of the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, the Italian Government enlarged the Piazza Venezia and built a replica of the Palazzo Venezia in yellow brick on the opposite side of the square. This building hosts now the offices of the Assiscurazioni Generali di Venezia. Also because of that the Palazzetto di Venezia, which closed the south side of the Piazza, was dismantled and rebuilt southwest of the Palazzo.
In late 2010 Mussolini's unfinished "most secret" bunker was discovered beneath the building.
I tried to avoid the inevitable head on photo that just about everybody makes. I kind of succeeded, because I did not shoot this photo from the road, but from a tree trunk besides the road. It resulted in quite a discussion with my wife though, since it was on a pretty steep slope. I think it was worth it :-)

Third attempt out of 10 ICM photos taken during the Solstice day on June 21 2022, well succeeded.
Here the grass and my movements obtained an extra sort of fluffy or soft furry effect.
The colour is exact as photographed on the countryside, in the middle of a wild grass field by the twilight.

"In a photograph, if I am able to evoke not alone a feeling of the reality of the surface physical world but also a feeling of the reality of existence that lies mysteriously and invisibly beneath its surface, I feel I have succeeded. At their best, photographs as symbols not only serve to help illuminate some of the darkness of the unknown, they also serve to lessen the fears that too often accompany the journeys from the known to the unknown."

28 January 2021: All key indicators continue to rise. In the week to 24 January on average 2,168 people tested positive each day. The figure is up 9% on the week. In the same period hospitalizations are up with 18% and number of fatalities with 7%. Meanwhile, as vaccine production falls behind schedule, and most European countries are lagging in inoculating people, the EU and AstraZeneca are on a collision course. The EU has been hoping that the arrival of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine would hasten the pace of vaccinations, but AstraZeneca told the European Union at a teleconference last week that it was going to slash its scheduled deliveries to 31 million doses by the end of March, less than half of the 80 million doses than what the company initially promised. European officials have implied that AstraZeneca, headquartered in Britain, sent vaccines to Britain that were meant for the continent instead. Relations between Britain and the EU were already testy after more than four years of wrangling over Brexit and this for sure doesn’t help to build a workable relationship in the future. It’s sad to see that where science is succeeding common sense, diplomacy and solidarity is failing. The good news is that after a limited delay in the production of vaccines, the Pfizer plant in Belgium has returned to its normal production schedule. Today’s picture is another vignette from life in Ghent during this unprecedented crisis – Ghent, Belgium.
From the interior, given a tour, and permission to photograph as much as we desired. The person who gave us the tour is trying to help restore it. I really hope they succeed. It is just wonderful to see, and has so much history.
In close communion with the real nature, we learn that the most important thing is to be alive… to love… not to succeed ... photography is definitively a philosophical art for me…!!! Ü

The LPM-66 succeeds where others have failed when it comes to packing big features into a small package.
A PDW to the core, the LPM-66 is the perfect weapon for your private security detail, or vehicle crew. Production models lack a stock, however the recoil is negligible. This is in part due to the unique caseless 5.7x28mm cartridge.
The cartridge isn't the only unique aspect of the LPM-66. Rather than a traditional layout, the LPM-66 feeds from a side-loaded 20-round detachable magazine. This greatly reduces the overall profile of the weapon. Depressing the lever on the trigger guard causes the magazine to pivot away from the receiver, allowing it to be quickly replaced.
Integral foregrip and quad-rail models available.
