Always look for what lies beneath. Antarctica has lots of hidden secrets

with Coral rocks , Niue Island, Sth Pacific

A great cloudy morning down the mountain in Roanoke, about 45 min drive downhill from me. A few floors up and its so much better. Subbed, "subframed" with a Nikon Nikkor-O 35 f2.

CSX M434 comes off the Iona Island causeway with CSX SD40-2 #8040 leading CN and CSX gevos. Contrary to normal circumstances, the River Sub has had a host of 40-2 leaders, mostly on the 433 and 434.

As I stand on the roof of my car in -8F with a -35F Windchill, UPRR YPR60B (YPR60B 23) has made it's way to Downtown Chicago and onto the lead to Bloomers & The Chicago Tribune on a absolutely freezing Friday morning.

(I miss Florida, sigh)

Its been some time. I'm certainly still a photographer though.

Suba a la barca, Señor,

que yo le daré un paseo

por estas aguas tan calmas

donde nunca se marea

y disfruta de la mar.

Suba, no quede atrás,

que cuando se lo cuenten

ya no volveré a salir,

que yo sin luz ya no salgo

porque me gusta que vean

lo bonito que es el mar.

Y sin luz no lo verá,

que está bajando el sol

y estos rayos lo embellecen,

creándose esos colores

que esta tierra agradece.

Vámonos, que ya en la barca

los sitios se han ocupado

y hay que ver cómo atardece.

These guys are SO fast - young Starling - in and out of the feeder.....

We are somewhere in the milepost 70-ish range on the south end of the Logan Sub. At one time it used to connect into the N&W down at Gilbert. It stops a bit shy of that extension, instead making a left turn and heads for Elk Creek. That’s the last pile of black diamonds down here at the end of the Logan Sub. A relatively clean 7400 hugs the road and embraces the shadows on an early Fall morning. R211 is your train symbol.

BNSF Manifest H-BARKCK rumbles by the former Santa Fe Depot located in Holbrook, Arizona on the BNSF Gallup Sub.

Happy Sliders Sunday!

Sub zero. Mam Tor. Derbyshire February 2017.

There's no doubt that a fully mature Gannet, with its stunning yellow head & white plumage, is a beautiful & elegant bird. During a recent visit to RSPB Bempton cliffs, I was also taken with how visually striking these black & white sub-adults are.

C640 rolls along Pratts Branch Creek on the former L&N Rockhouse Sub on its journey to Martin.

See the description of this type of pinery on my previous post

T800 rolls south through Granite as the clouds break apart for a bit of sun.

"The line_up is a paperwork series I developed in 2010 /11, the “liners” are made out of paper (Din A4) ,

oil paint and graphite, the theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers."

A long CN 322 is passing MP 3 of the Montreal sub; nearly at its destination of Southwark Yard. Up front is CN 3899 and mid-train is CN 2803.

On Sunday 11th December 2022, and with a temperature of minus 1C with the low winter sun making an attempt to break through the leaden sky, Direct Rail Services 37218 and 37419 power past Starbeck signalbox and on to Harrogate and Leeds working the 3S29 08:27 York Works-Hellifield-York Works railhead treatment train. In the area just behind the train was the junction to Wetherby and Leeds, and once stood Starbeck motive power depot, latterly coded 50D, which was closed in September 1959. The station dates from 1848 and originally served Harrogate. The North Eastern Railway signal box was originally known as Starbeck South and controls the level crossing on the busy A59 road between Knaresborough and Harrogate, today maintaining a mix of semaphore and colour light signals.

A KCS leader leads this train past the bracket signals with C&O era signal heads on the CSX Big Sandy Sub

Ordinarily, a text about a mid-day train with a sweet unit on the point would elicit the reply of "worrrrrrrk." However, the fresh coat of thick, wet snow you see on about everything here in Topeka is conveniently the reason that I had the day off today, allowing me to go after the Union Pacific 1943!

Here, it's leading the MASHN-08 beneath Kansas highway 4, the "Oakland Expressway." This is at MP 64.1 on the UP Kansas Sub, and in four miles, it'll hang a left onto the Topeka Sub at SJ Jct.

Baker Street tube station (as you can probably tell).
